    Hello Al, I agree with you.
    Before the Maxon/Pixologic changes I felt in love with the software, and bought ZBCore, it was not an easy purchase due to dollar convertions etc... but I did it. Now I just feel betrayed, and I wont look at software the same way again, to me now, they are just tools now

      Yeah, that really sucks. Did you buy a perpetual license at the time?

    Wish that Blender would come out with bas relief like ZBrush. Or at least make it simple to do in Blender.

    Well to be fair I know a lot of people who upgraded to full zbrush within a year of learning zbrush core, so then core just sits unused wasted. for 10 a month you can get used to the limited interface and comfortable in the program before moving to a full version subscription. 150 would represent 15 months just for some direct comparison to the old price. Preventing some overwhelm and expensive frustration or even rage quitting that can come from jumping right into the deep end. Then when you're ready or financially able, you can either subscribe or buy the perpetual licence for zbrush. 🤷

      You aren’t wrong 👍I just refuse to subscribe to art software

      @@AlHowell I totally get that, I hate the subscription model too and will be using my perpetual licence version until some game changing update appears, then I will decide whether to buy a new perpetual or to subscribe.

    I bought a perpetual license for Core. Mainly use it for the ZRemesher nowadays. It's limited, but it's something.

    • @AlHowell
      @AlHowell  Рік тому +1

      Do you sculpt in a different software then take it to core to Zremesh?

    • @realtyrone
      @realtyrone Рік тому

      @@AlHowell Yap, I use Blender as it feels less limiting, then once I'm done, pop it into ZBrushCore, use ZRemesher, pop it back into Blender and then I further adjust the model. Saves me time and gets me closer to decent topology. Especially clothes. I would simulate clothes in Blender and use the ZRemesher, and then add new stuff onto it before I fix the topology manually (sometimes it's not even needed) and then I UV unwrap it to texture it in Substance. Makes for a very quick workflow and beats paying for the Quad Remesher for Blender (the one made by the person that created the ZRemesher)

    I have core, it's covered in dust. Sadly no update which sucks... might guess is that'll just drop core and just keep the core mini.

    Yeah, but there is no "buying the full version of zbrush", there's no buying anymore period. I don't need continual updates on industry standard software, especially when there's free software that also continually updates. I want to buy one thing and use it for 15-20 years before upgrading. Like office2007, like photoshopCS5.. subscription models are the death of freedom

      @@AlHowell One thing I gotta say: I just started sculpting in blender and got into it really fast, because I was already used to navigating in blender. I've heard arguments that Zbrush will always be the better tool and easier to use because it's dedicated sculpting software. But I got ZbrushCoreMini to try out the entire environment with no strings attached and couldn't even make a simple head (something which I'm able to do in a couple hours in blender, after two days practice). The navigation in zbrush is way clunky compared to blender (even though it's probably the opposite when you go from zbrush to blender for the first time), but it felt ironically much less intuitive. Changing brush size by scrolling and having U+click+drag to be the "short"cut for what blender does with F and shift+F seems illogical. And yes, I didn't get the full brush-gallery experience, but I can get similar brushes for free in blender, and it already has the same kinds of brushes the free zbrush has. So why even consider switching?

    Bought full zbrush just before the program changed hands,
    Not worth it anymore

    • @AlHowell
      @AlHowell  Рік тому +1

      Although I do not like the change (no free upgrades, even though there hasn't really been an update in a year) Zbrush is still king. and therefore, IMO a perpetual license of Full Zbrush is worth it.

      I have a friend who bought a perpetual license of Zbrush core before the switch and he still has access to it. With full Zbrush there is an option for a one time purchase perpetual license

    What's worse is that there is no update in sight in years.
    I can't for the life of me handle the full ZBrush with its convoluted GUI and bloated trashy gimmicky features like Light stuff, Camera stuff, Material stuff, turntable, Nanomesh, Micromesh and all the plugins etc. which are totally useless for an indie game developer.
    Hope they make an update of ZBC with refreshed UX, VDM and other useful features and I don't care about the price.
