Andres Segovia Scales: E major and C# melodic minor, 3 octaves for classical guitar.
Welcome back to the studio! Its the new year and time to get to work! Since we are all still stuck inside for at least the first part of 2021, it is a perfect time to work on your guitar skills. This month challenge yourself to play both scales and exercises in your daily practice. Below are the time stamps for each scale in this video.
1.) E major 3 octave scale - 120bpm: 0:46
2.) C# melodic minor 3 octave scale - 60bpm: 1:13
3.) C# melodic minor 3 octave scale - 120bpm: 1:48
Practice Tips! In my studio I always encourage my students to 1.) Practice each day for a set amount of time, and 2.) play scales and exercises as part of their daily practice.
Here is the next pair of scales in Andres Segovia's wonderful arrangement of classical guitar scales, I decided not to have a live metronome click in this video, but there will be one in the scale video coming out next week. Let me know if you have a preference!
-All minor scales are the melodic minor. Scales in this series come in pairs as relative major/minor and follow the circle of 5ths. Ex: (C, Am) (G, Em) (D, Bm) (A, F# m), etc. In this video I played each scale at half speed (60 bpm), and then full speed (120bpm).
