It hurts to see Carlin go through an act without allowing himself/being allowed to use even a little bit of profanity, especially when he's talking about euphemisms. I still enjoyed it.

This is a great bit. I don't think the profanity would add much, to be honest. Maybe more anger would help…if a few nasty words popped out, it would be ok…..The worst, for me, is when comedians think that they HAVE to be vulgar constantly. It's just disgusting, especially when they have really awful material and bad deliveries. If you are not funny, ok, no hard feelings, but if you're not funny AND you're disgusting, who needs it? IT's not the vulgarity that make Bill Burr or Richard Prior funny, it's their ideas, and their skill at mimicry. The vulgarity sounds like normal street talk from them, it doesn't sound forced. But most of the great comics aren't profane all the time….Woody Allen, Mort Sahl, Joan Rivers, Rita Rudner, Rodney, Seinfeld, Cosby, Allen King, Robert Klein, etc etc

The love of my life was paralyzed from the neck down with chronic-progressive MS. I once mentioned to someone that she was disabled, and they tried to correct me to "differently abled." I told that person the only "difference" in her physical abilities was a lot of them were missing. When I got home and related the encounter, she replied, "If I could fly then I'd be differently abled. The way I am now I'm just crippled."
Carlin is absolutely right -- these euphemisms about people and their conditions are for the comfort of the speaker, not for the person who is suffering with the condition. They are acutely aware of what is wrong with them. Except for a corpse. Who is "metabolically challenged."

When I was young if a woman was heroic she would be referred to as a heroine and if she was acting she would be an actress. Now they just refer to them as heroes and actors, basically using the same exact terms for their male counterparts. I can understand on some level wanting to take gender out of the thought process, but is it really wrong to have a different term to reflect the fact that the hero or actor is a lady? Most languages have gender divided wording even for inanimate objects.

MUCH better than those idiots that ask, "Who's watching in 2019!!!" and then get 5000 upvotes from other idiots.
You can reduce the stress associated with these dumb posts by using them to reinforce a complimentary mindset about you personally. Just be thankful that there are lots of folks like the "Who's watching in 2019?" crowd that make you remember the progress you've made in your own life. I think to myself that I'm glad that it's been many years since I would have posted anything so stupid and shallow and I'm instantly encouraged. That way I can have compassion on the idiot posters by just recognizing that they are younger in their maturation process and will hopefully improve over time. I think taking such an approach will work for your too!! Good Luck.

Euphemisms reflect fear and conceal reality. I don't like them either. The one I dislike most is the use of "pass away" to mean death. My husband Bobby, who was a WWII combat veteran, and is dead, would think it disrespectful to say of his death, that he had merely "passed away". "No," he'd say, "I died. Give me credit!"
    Great routine!

It is so nice (that’s a nice word...George Carlin said so) to have a comedians go through a whole routine without a swear word...no profanity whatsoever. Kudos George, I had one of his tapes I wore out... I loved his ‘A place for my stuff’, the refrigerator ...don’t stand looking with the door open...take a photograph, and what is in there??? So many greats. I miss you George Carlin. You don’t need profanity to be funny. He proves it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
