Two takeaways: One, if you use snares, pull them up every two minutes. Two, don't use snares.
Completely agree. A casting net would have caught more of them. I'm in BC, and crab snares are illegal here - I wonder how often the crab just drops a leg to get away.

Very interesting to watch. The only thing I can recommend is when you are ready to bring it up, give a quick jerk to close the snares around the legs, so many fell off on the way up. Which brand of action camera do you use? Great video, thanks for sharing.

I prefer a Crab Hawk type device, but can see how mounting a GoPro is actually feasible on a snare trap. Good footage 👍

Very interesting video. Makes me think that slightly thinner snare lines might be beneficial. I can see that it's a compromise between something that will readily slide closed on a leg or claw but will still retain the loop shape and stand proud from the cage, whilst also being tough enough to stand up to repeated use and getting banged about on the seabed etc.
