My only experience with Southwest was 10 years ago. It was fine. Took me safely to Vegas and had no issues. In your case, I understand another reason why you would take Southwest. The other major airlines based in Dallas is American and I always hear bad things about them.
I have flown them all, and while there are worse airlines, american is up there. Which sucks cause there are so many great AA staff, but the ones who hate being there are the ones that give it a bad name. But southwest is low cost, great staff , just been having some issues that come from growth. Thanks for watching mike!
As a guy who worked for sw briefly the company is good. My mainstay was Delta since I was with them for 4 years. Depends on what you like.
The company seems good , management and staff seem good, but there are for sure some growing pains to update systems and stay on top.

I recorded back in January but have been delaying posting, i saw the network issues today and thought it was time.
So once I'm A-List, I can book a flight from say, Buffalo to NYC, and then change at the last minute for a flight to Vegas for $0? (I'm a longtime Southwest fan anyway, but this seems..hackable.)
Unfortunately no, only for same destination on same day. But there is a hack there for this, if you find a flight that has a stop in vegas, you could skip lag it, but this does have risks as they can hold you in violation of the ticket purchase agreement.
