I run a set of PVS-23's (SOCOM issue 5050yg's). Adams industries AI/SAM Ground mounts & Rugged Battery packs on both my buckets & Love them but this is the next step up for me. Cant wait to find a decent priced used set of 31's in the future. Great vid sir, Thanks!!
Just ordered a pair of DTNVS goggles with aviation grade L3 white phos tubes, 2700+ fom for a little over 11k. With a battery pack, sacrificial lenses, case, and IPD stops, it’ll still be less than $13k. But having never looked through either those or the 31s, I’ll wonder if I should have gone with the 31s…
I went with 1531’s mainly because of the manual gain and they are $4k cheaper than the 31a. Got 2800 FOM and these things are amazing. They could have kept the little on board IR light though.
The UANVB Katanas are a recent housing that are slightly lighter than these. They take PVS-14 tubes and lenses so they have diopter adjustments. They're cheaper than the PVS-31s too.
Honestly the 31A are sweet and all but the lack of features for the price kinda is disappointing. 31D's offer all the features plus more ie individual pod shut off when articulated to the side, external battery pack plug in at the top so you can articulate to the side completely, adjustable diopters, etc. I personally went with DTNVS with L3 unfilmed WP. Better support for the end user, more accessory options (PVS-14 style accessories), twist style on / off versus push button on / off. Only downside is not having manual gain. But if anything breaks my warranty is good for 10 years and can be fixed in a short amount of time verse waiting for L3 which could be months without nods.
Individual pod shutoff is a fairly useless feature imo. The twist on as opposed to push button has a weakness too in that the “pull out, twist” switches can and do bend and break. Give and take to everything. Yes but unfortunately the warranty only covers manufacturer defects so in the event that they break from use…out of pocket.
Two things i dont like about the 31A. The terrible battery port location and the pods not turning off when rotated up as you end up blasting light onto your helmet if you do.
@@totenfurwotan4478 turn them off lol I have no issue using them in the military and to now with my personals. My friends had 31D and a friend that has DTNVSs. They both love my 31A bc of the clear glass and FOM
I just got my 31A’s back in May and love them. The weight is great and I love manual gain and the glass clarity
Hard to beat them for sure!

Love the 23’s and the ball detent mounts are king (imo). Enjoy man, 31’s are slowly but surely going down in price as well. Thanks for sharing!
If your MIL or LEO, you can get them from TNVC for 13 flat
I like these, pvs31D’s, NVD bnvd ul, and the Dtnvs.
All viable options for sure. Don’t think you could go wrong with any.
Love the “suasponte” hat!!
Totally agree with on board illuminators being absolutely useless. Same with gain adjustment being a great feature.

If there is a difference it’ll likely be negligible. Sounds like you got a solid setup for a good price. Enjoy owning the night!
TNVC is totally worth it. The 31a is best in class.

1531’s are a solid option as well. Anything L3 pushes out I’m usually a fan of.
Love my 31as. Have these and a set of 1431 mk2
Awesome vid.
Where did u get your split rings from?

Came with these

I was commenting more towards housings that have been tested and used by MIL/LE agencies

How did you get the tiny key rings them? Thank you nice video.
They come with the Ops Core ACH bungees
I see what you did there with the commercial night vision industry being shady lol
Always lurking for your hard earned cash
Another thing people don’t realize price wise. Buy a DTNVS with 24 UA tubes, RPO glass, IPD stops and a battery pack and see what it cost
Are you saying maxed out DTNVS is more expensive?
@@darkh0st you buy a DTNVS with every one of the features I listed it will be at least the same price (13.7k) if not a tad more
@@lukeflaugher5334 I figured as much. Is the upgraded DTNVS going to be better?
@@darkh0st not really because the 31s have better glass
