I was about to ask what happens if you reverse pickpocket the diary onto Amusei, but then I remembered you can't remove quest items unless you're giving it to the right person. It would be really funny though if you could.
Meanwhile, Brynjolf lets you join the Thieves Guild in Skyrim no matter how hard you fail his quest
I love doing the "worst thief possible" run
You even get picked from street, as if Brynjolf can see who is prospective thief
To be fair, the Thieves Guild in Skyrim is dying and desperate for new recruits so it makes sense. But yeah, I agree it's stupid that he just lets you in no matter what
There's not much thieving in the skyrim thieves guild, so he can afford to be more lenient.
@@hermit3043 the Skyrim guilds were all lackluster. I've been told the morrowind mage guild quests where you spend half of the quest line fetching papers and materials for your more senior colleagues is probably the best depiction of working in academia in any game.
Never knew about the quest to steal the sword. Crazy this game can still surprise after 17 years
When I first played through this, I did it legit. The second time though, I decided not to deal with it for a few days. As I went to do other things. If I remember right, I got the dialogues about losing, not realizing I could lose. So then I ended up doing the sword. I remember that dog gave me a lot of problems. So much so that I got 100 Sneak and a perfect invisibility spell before getting the sword. I was young and thought nothing of spells like calm. xD
I've always loved how most of the game's challenges can be gotten over by senselessly swinging your sword, but then when you get to the thieves guild you're restricted from doing that, and you have to actually sneak around. The dark brotherhood too, you have to actually be a good assassin, get in and get out without no one seeing you. Make it look like an accident, or frame someone else. Or even fake someone's death. There's even the Whodunit quest which can play out various ways depending on who you talk to, and how you did it. It was so creative.
Dark lore dash actually did a dark brotherhood series previously. It's a good watch.
The DB party quest was so fantastic. Still one of my favorites in any game ever.
With both guilds it's better to do it in a way fitting the guild, but it's still possible to sword yourself through. For the DB that usually means forfeiting the bonus and for the thieves it usually means paying for each head taken.
At least your character has toes, so there’s that.

I always forget about the beast command spells. I’m glad you can still get the sword without hurting the dog :)
i can't take serious the punching a sleeping npc and they just fly off the bed like they have a bad backache "OOogh!"
Yo dash please no matter what don’t stop with the the tes content, génuinely you’re one of the best pages in the community I’ve seen in a long time - especially as the game gets older and we can compare it with new entires it’s great to see how much was put into this game despite the technical limitations
I failed the first quest once, and then had to steal the sword. I really enjoyed this little caper, but what cracked me up was that Amusei always ends up joining the guild eventually anyway, and about how easy it would be for Hieronymous Lex to bust the guild if he just had someone go undercover.
lol I remember failing the first time I played and being so upset I couldn't join I just gave up
He does have somebody go under cover though.
considering that you get quests and deliver loot to the exact same spot, Amusei can just wait couple days and try again while yo're on your first quest.

and if im correct she is the only or one of few npcs to wear a different out while she sleeps.
A little tip too, the beggars have a persuasion check when it comes to thieves guild information.
I found this out with my Cheshire kahjiit. If you have a high enough spell for charm or rally (or both) they'll tell you anything you wanna know at no cost.
I was able to gather all my information for free, because my custom spell of "cheshires diplomacy" (heightened charm, rally, and calm) helped me pass those checks at ease.
Huh, I didn't know Rally had that effect in addition to Charm.

Little Shop Of Horrors was originally a 1960 film by Roger Corman. *However* the diary also mentions a “Bucket Of Blood, which was another Corman film.
I've played Oblivion for the first time around a month ago and I fell in love with it. Your videos are fun to watch to remember how much fun I had when I played these quests for the first time, or to learn new things. Keep up the good work!

Got to say anything from the first "half" of Dark Brotherhood series of quests. If I were to pick a single one I'd say Whodunit. Aside from that - definitely Vaermina's Daedric Quest, Mazoga The Orc, or Caught in the Hunt @@DarkLOREDash

I always felt bad beating Methredel and Amusei at the first trial, but I was super ecstatic when I saw them again along the quests! It's like getting excited for a friend because they got the job they wanted
My first time I thought Methredel was already an experienced thief and the test was to see if I was smart enough to steal the journal from her instead of beating her. I didn't realize you could beat her to the journal until years later.

The first version of "The Little Shop of Horrors" is from 1960.
One time while doing this quest, when I asked Puny where Amantius's house is, I also asked him about the Gray Fox... and he gave the standard "Don't pay attention to those rumors. There's no such thing as the Thieves Guild". Yeah, I got the "Thieves Guild doesn't exist" line from a beggar while completing May the Best Thief Win.
Happened to me too. Also Heironymous will say he's a myth in one breath, then demonise the guild in the next. Not so congruent 🤣

@@DarkLOREDash I am really looking forward to the completion of the Thieves Guild (I’ve watched the DB series like 10 times by now) and hopefully one day you can get to the Daedric shrines since some of them are definitely of the darker nature, Mephala comes to mind 😏🧟♀️. But I will watch any oblivion content you do, in fact one of my favourite ones is the detective style where you followed the Skooma Trade and the Sleeper Cell Mythics!
Fun fact, if Methredhel is about to give it to Armand and is gloating about being able to join, you can pickpocket it out of her inventory and when she goes to give it to him she’s confused about where it went.

@@DarkLOREDash I just tried it to see if it was still the way I remembered but it’s not and I’m confused BUT pickpocketing is a way to go about it and she does comment on it but the game recognizes her as the winner even if you have it in your possession.

I had a weird thing happen once, I didn't get to the book first, lost track of whatshername then waited by armon, I stole the book off her and thought it was fine, wanted to see her reaction so let her go to Armon. It went like she still had the book on her despite it being in my inventory lol. My theft was so good even the game didn't realize I'd taken it.
