I have the BOG DeathGrip Infinite Carbon Fiber Tripod and it has different dimensions. I had to cut the stem off of the ball to remove it. I next placed the Barker conversion adapter through the empty tripod base (no pvc/tape needed) and put some blue loctite, and tightened the base just a little more than hand tight. I placed my WEYLLAN CH55 Heavy Duty 360 Panoramic Tripod Head to it. I then removed the BOG Deathgrip ARCA adapter and attached the Little Crow DGA/ARCA Adapter to the bottom of the BOG DEATHGRIP. Just as good as a RRS Tripod! It holds my SAKO 300 WM and AR10 w/o a problem.
another easy ish way to get a swiss plate rifle that you wouldn't usually have one is to buy a swiss plate that attaches to a picatinny rail. and then buy a small pic rail designed to attach to a sling stud. it'll put the point where your rifle attaches to the tripod farther forward but there's always the option of adding another sling stud farther back which is pretty easy. just food for thought. great video man. likin the intro for sure.
I would have wrapped the legs with road bicycle bar tape. You can get it in about whatever configuration you want from foam, cork, gel, leather, ventilated, fuzzy, glow-in-the-dark, thick, thin.. whatever. It’s literally made to absorb shock from aluminum.. and looks cool. Get it in 2 zillion colors a well.
They sell polyurethane stand offs that you could drill out and place in the center of that hole/gap to get a more stable head mount so you dont have to fumble with that screw and washers so much. They are like 2 bucks at home depot.
I like it! My new Sub. i just came back from a praire dog hunt and was looking for a cheaper+better table shooting system to replace my death-grip. not a fan of the death grip (barely grip).
Follow up question. Do you have any bench mounts you would use the ball-head adapter on? I need something stable for 500+ yd prairie dog shots and hate those shooting ranges rests that don't pan. The ball-head will help move and lock onto dogs across the prairie.
I make my own adapter with my 3d printer and it also acted as a riser plate because I’m tall and the bog just was not tall enough. Added about 5” to mine made it so much better.
Good info! Just what I was looking for. Love my BOG but not a fan of the clamp. Question? Why multiple washers? Wouldn’t one work? Also would you recommend blue loctight on the screw? Thanks
I’m glad you found this video helpful! Multiple washers because a 2 1/2 inch bolt will be too long by itself. So you need those extra washers to act as spacers to pull the threads down. A 2 1/4 inch bolt would work better without the need for extra washers, but I can’t seem to find one that size anywhere. Loctite would probably be a great idea! I can’t think of any downsides that it would have.
if you have any buddies with a 3d printer, you could have them print you a spacer to go into that large opening. might make it easier to install and more solid once installed
