Happiness is not found in your fruits but in your roots...LOVE this! We so often look for our fruit to judge ourselves. If we focus on our roots, the fruit will come in its own time.
Emily, thank you for sharing the story about your daughter. I’m 47 and thought I was done with figuring out who my friends are, but here I am again, struggling like I’m in high school. David, thank you for stating that light draweth in light and that she would find those people. Both of you stated what I needed to hear. Finding people that are full of light and that are deep rooted. If I AM that, then I will find it. If I’m not, then I need to work to BE that. ❤️❤️❤️
I joined the church 11 years ago and this is my first time reading the Old Testament. Your videos have helped me tremendously to understand it. Thank you so much!❤
Psalms 30:5 JOY struck a deep cord, "Joy cometh in the morning", answered my pondering of how to experience JOY in my wayward young adult children. Thank you for choosing that Psalm to share!!!
I have watched your podcast for many months and I am in awe with your abilities to pull out so many wonderful thoughts from the scriptures that I could not see. Your experiences lift my heart and soul. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you so much for your presentation. It makes my day listening to them. According to Old Testament Scholars, shepherds in the Middle East were considered one of the humblest professions, of the lowest stations in Hebrew culture, and were usually women. David, the youngest of his brothers, was consigned to be the shepherd of his families flock when his brothers went to battle. The "green pastures" in the holy land we not that green at all, but were actually little blotches of vegetation the shepherd, who knew the land well, lead the sheep to. The "still waters" were actually stone mangers where water was placed for the sheep to drink and it was the shepherd who filled theses mangers each day. The 23rd psalm is not about being lead to a land of plenty, but in being lead through land that is scare relying solely on a shepherd who knows where the vegetation is and provides us water daily when we thirst. The "paths of righteousness" (not to take away from the symbolism) were called such because they were well worn and free from the piles of rocks that would cause sheep to trip over and lose their footing and suffer injury. Once the sheep were on the path, they would look down towards the path to lead them while relying on the shepherd's voice. However, in moments when they were off the path, it would be then when they would look to the shepherd. The "rod and staff" as used by the shepherd to defend, guide, and protect the sheep is to be contrasted to the rod and staff once used by Pharaoh to punish them when were enslaved in Egypt generations ago. The story of the Exodus was the story the Hebrews reread and rehearsed every Passover.
Bible scholar, Tim Keller, said: The Psalms are a mini-Bible. They cover all the topics. They are meant to be prayed, sung, felt, and done. The Psalms lead us to commit ourselves to God through pledges & promises, to depend on God through petition and expressions of acceptance, to seek comfort in God through lament and complaint, to find mercy from God through confession and repentance, to gain new wisdom and perspective from God through meditation, remembrance, and reflection. (as read by David).
My sister introduced me to your Channel three weeks ago! Where have I been that I didn’t know anything about Don’t Miss This? I am learning so much. Love your banter between each other.
I love your idea of taking individual lines from the Psalms and constructing a new poem. The phrase, “waiting on the Lord” was what stuck out for me and how often David leaned on the Lord in his role as king.
I was not looking forward getting into Psalms but the way you have outlined the way to study I can’t with to delve in with both feet and experience the joy!!! God bless you both.
Emily, I liked your Psalm of Trust. It was interesting that it was about joy, and light, and singing, and dance and joyful activity, and then ended with "be still..." Which is another type of joyful activity, just different. I think there is a healthy tension, or balance, in the Psalms that we can learn from and apply in our lives.
I took your suggestion re: writing my own Psalm. After underlining all the passages that I liked, I then compiled, and edited them into my own psalm. Thank you for this wonderful suggestion!
Homework--I assigned homework to my fourth grade students every night except the before the weekend (Friday) or a holiday or vacation break. Those days were for families and I didn't want to interrupt that time. Reason why? Students learned responsibility, it communicated to parents what we were working on in the classroom, and gave a chance for students to do something independently with the teacher hovering over them. I never gave more than 30 minutes a night and told parents if it took longer, they needed to let me know--something was amiss. So homework helped me often identify the students needs. In a time when teachers have to devote so much time to so many things (school pictures, community sports leagues, gun safety, drug prevention, first aid, monitoring individual health issues, collect money from fundraising events, character education, basic nutrition, water conservation education, cultural tolerance, bus safety, vaccinations, fluoride treatments, preparing office and library displays, and being our own janitors) teachers can help students complete the prescribed curriculum. My students were the only students in the district who completed every math concept during the year. And their test scores showed it. Just think: 30 more math lessons, 30 more writing experiences, 30 more reading lessons than the kid down the block. Over an education it does make a difference. The problem really is homework that is not understood by parents, or too much. But it really can be a great thing.
Matthew 27:46 and Psalm 22:1 I always thought Jesus was lamenting, but he was just quoting and testifying one last time that he was the Christ. I love it.
Ive followed Emily on inklings for years and DMT for a year now. I just found out Bro Butler taught my children in seminar at PHS.! Such a small world!! They loved him as a teacher .🙂
If we ever have to go through another shutdown, we’ll know better to turn to the Psalms, or whenever circumstances prevent us from going to church or to the temple
Much to our surprise, we have been able to divide the reading for each week into seven pieces and read all the psalms. This week we’re reading 1-49. It has been totally doable. I have found at least a tidbit in every one that I didn’t want to miss.
I’m a mom that DOES NOT like to send my kids to school…I LOVE having them home all day every day!! It makes me so sad that parents want to send their kids away…especially when they say it out loud in front of them. 😢
Thank you so much for all the lessons, I'm hooked!! I anxiously wait for every Monday to listen the new class. I love it!! Please tell me where I can buy the tip ins I have tried to find them with so success. They said that are not available any more? I would love to get them. Thank you for sharing your amazing videos.
I wish Emily or someone would tell me where they get the stickers they are using in the journal pages with people on them. It is a completely different set of stickers then they have. I use the ones David and Emily have but I want those stickers. I just love these lessons and the stickers help. If I could get the name or where they get them that would be awesome. Does anyone know Emily will you tell us. Thanks. I hope you keep going with dont miss this for the new testament as well. and the Book of Mormon. You really do open my eyes to see things I have never seen. I just love it. I wish I knew about you for Doctrine and Covenants.
I love the scripture that is on the grey cloth hanging on the chalkboard. But I can' t find it . Exodus 14:17 seems to be a different scripture. Am I reading it wrong?

Homework is all we home schoolers do! We get our kids all year long. I feel sad for those that look forward to sending their kids off. Not sure how Christ like that is? We will end up spending eternity with them, if we live correctly. Just remember that our society is the way it is because of leaving the youth’s education to someone else. Remember we have a Christ centered home now with a church that supports that education. I think your personal education was also meant in that prophecy!
What is wrong with students benefiting from some additional study outside the classroom? Parents and students need to take ownership and the responsibility of and for the education of those students.
I certainly don’t want to start anything on David and Emily’s special page but I agree with them. The kids are in school for 6-7 hours already. When they come home they need family time, service time, extracurricular time and the older kids have jobs as well. To me it’s balance. 💙

I really like to read Psalms, it make me calm, relax, happy I know God is great. Thank you so much 😍👏
Planted in living water...makes me think of being planted in the Savior. If we are one with Him, what more can we need?
I love your idea of taking individual lines from the Psalms and constructing a new poem. The phrase, “waiting on the Lord” was what stuck out for me and how often David leaned on the Lord in his role as king.
Reminded me of this song cochren & co. "Thank God for Sunday Morning."
Also, I stopped giving homework when I taught 4th grade-best decision ever!
David and Emile Thanks for your preparation We all need the Lord We need his care in this last Day . good job

I love trees and I love hiking. Can you remember what the trail name is that Emily went on with her family? I need to go on this hike.
Same question. What's the hike? It sounds similar to one I've been on.
I would guess she is referring to the Red Cliffs Recreation Area.
Red Reef Trail, starts at Red Reef campground
Well Fall is my favorite time of year. I'm ready for cooler weather. I'm too hot.
People in Arizona are happy for summer to end, especially with 110+ heat 😄

You’re Awesome David, for telling Emily about her Lipstick on her teeth, most people will just let you be there without saying anything 👏👏👏👏👏
Kanarraville! Such a fun hike! 😊
Kanarraville hike is fantastic, but she might be referring to the Red Rock Reserve hike. So beautiful! But I haven't gone since the fire... 🔥
@@amandalundquist3336 You are probably right! I thought it looked a lot like Kanarraville and have never been to the other one!😊
