I have SO felt the idea of needing to rest on the words of the prophets lately. I think we've all felt like our days are easier than those of the pioneers, of the people in the Old Testament, but this year, I've really started to understand how this part of the world's history has truly significant challenges. IT IS HARD to raise teenagers in 2022. It's just hard. Yes, many of us have technology and access to clean water and food and clothing, but watching school shootings happen over and over again, seeing people struggle with gender confusion, hearing everyone in the whole world voicing their opinions about every little thing is very, very difficult to live with. Lately, I've leaned on the Lord's counsel to "be not afraid, only believe" and to "be of good cheer, for (He has) overcome the world." I have a President Nelson quote on our fridge that talks about looking forward to the future with optimism because so much of the time, I feel very little optimism about how the world is going. The scriptures and the words of the modern prophets have become a literal lifeline to me, and I think I'm starting to understand how their value is dearer than rubies or gold. Who needs those things. We need the word of God, who is always good, who never changes and who loves us in spite of our many, many faults. Thank the Lord for His gospel.
When my 5 kids were still home our Saturday nights were busy, the teens would be out late, church clothes wouldn’t be ready and our Sunday mornings could be difficult. I had read a quote by a prophet (can’t remember who now) and he said something like the success of Sunday morning begins Saturday night. I also have loved the Jewish tradition of the Sabbath Eve, so with my husband we created Saturday home-made-pizza-and-a-movie-night. We’d go to the video store (!) and choose our movie. The kids had to make sure their church clothes were ready. I started making puzzle dough in the afternoon, and we were all home together for pizza and a movie. The thing that made my teens willing to stay home is the home made pizza! (I got pretty good at making pizza dough!) The kids also helped put the pizzas together. They could invite a friend over, but we took turns with that. That became our “Sabbath Eve” tradition and made Sunday mornings easier.
Thank you very much. I loved what you have explained about Jeosaphat befriending the wrong person, how he had being deceived. It is important to know that we live in a time when there are lots of people who look like sheep but are raving wolves.
Thank you both for all that you do. You both are examples of being instrumental ts in the hands of the Lord. I have always struggled reading the scriptures. Y’all bring them to life for me and help me to have a desire to not just read, but study. I also feel more confident to share with others especially friends of other faiths. Thank you for sacrificing your time with this weekly “ritual” of scripture study that strengthens my relationship with God and Jesus. If I could pick to have dinner with anyone living, David Butler and Emily Belle Freeman would be at the top of my list.
You TWO are simply the BEST. You have generated so much interest in the really important things. Your personalities mess so much better than most. I don't think you will ever know just how much you have blessed so many. Love you both.
This lesson was so amazingly taught and opened up these scriptures to me as I prepared my lesson for the youth in my Ward. I was so struggling with this week's lesson but am now excited and preparing myself a big chart which we can progress through bringing out those things which are so very important to our precious youth. My prayer is the spirit will reach and teach those restless souls that need these amazing truths to protect them through these latter days. Thank you so much for helping me to first understand what I need to share with them. Love you guys so much ❤❤
Thank You Two!!! I've never been able to follow through the Old testament😳 I've pulled out more faith building information, listening to you two, that I need at this time in my life❣️
Thank you for the OT timeline - I'm finding it very helpful in understanding the OT. I'm especially glad to learn of the actual connection between the Bible and the Book of Mormon - it's put things into place for me regarding Laman and Lemuel's unhappiness.
Aloha David & Emily, I wanted to thank you both for the Dont Miss This resources that I can check easily on my app. I teach Valiant 9, 14 children. I printed out the timeline board and pictures and laminated them all and I love that I can keep referring back to your videos on my app so I too can go over it each month with my kiddos every Sunday. Its even motivated me to spend more time on studying the timeline and sharing it with my class. I love it, I have it next to my bed. It truly helps me to and my relationship with my Savior and Heavenly Father. I love everything that you share and especially your field trips to the actual places of Israel. You both are amazing, thank you strengthening my testimony and love for this amazing gospel. Lots of Aloha from Hawaii
I think our church members sometime have the same problem as Jehoshaphat when he goes to help the other king - in that we think we are showing love to someone by supporting their sins. You can love the person without supporting sin. We can be friendly without participating in things that go against God.
I love my Summer of Heroes Banner! It's getting filled in, and my kids are bringing up the previous stories in random conversations throughout the week. Thank you for this visual tool to make scripture study extra special for the summer!
For the past two years there have been huge trials and experiences that have been going on in my life. In the past 6 months I have been removed from situations that were out of my control, people who had been working behind my back and I could not see it, though for a while I sensed it but could never escape it from my own efforts. When I was counseled to remove myself entirely back in December things began to unfold in my mind. I have struggled with feelings of sadness, anger, hatred. I was counseled that I was to remember the good in people and that I was to do nothing, to stand still. All this is counsel that came to my mind again and again, and most often while I was pondering my situation while inside the temple. And of course I have to repent of any wrong doing on my part and forgive the people that I wanted to be my friends more than anything. But knowing that I was to stand still, do nothing and let god take it from there, was peaceful but also heartbreaking. But hearing this I feel so thankful to a God who loves all people who will help anyone who is willing to repent, no matter what it is for even if its feelings of anger and hatred to learn how to cast that from your heart and mind over and over again, till that is just gone for good and replaced by light peace and hope.
I love seeing where the Bible and the Book of Mormon come together. Have you realized that Lehi and Sariah would have been there to hear Josiah read the book of the law?
This reminds me of Phil Wickham's song- "The Battle Belongs To You". It's so hard sometimes to stand still, but what a wonderful thing it is to know that this is the kind of God we worship!
Hi this is Clara Epperson 😍 pray for me and my Family 💕 Bless 🤗 me to listen to God and go to Church Sunday 🙏 morning and bless me to pray more. Bless Corey Miles to get his time in with I HSSServices . Amen
A Christian author has wrote the best historical fiction books on this time period. Lynn Austin. Chronicles of the kings - 5 books. Then for later in the Old Testament The restoration chronicles - 3 books . Just so good
David trying to quit laughing after learning the word derelict!:) Always enjoy your insightful lessons! Please keep sighting full references, I get lost sometimes.
I have read scriptures but have felt so discouraged that I can't understand what God wants me to understand, and can't feel the strength I needed because I don't understand all the names and places and other context of the old testament. Thank you for explaining it!
derelict adjective: in a very poor condition as a result of disuse and neglect. IE: "the cities were derelict and dying" Similar: dilapidated, ramshackle, run down, broken-down, worn out, tumbledown, in (a state of) disrepair, in ruins, ruined, falling to pieces, falling apart, rickety, creaky, creaking, decrepit, deteriorating, crumbling, deteriorated, neglected, untended, unmaintained, gone to rack, and ruin, gone to seed, on its last legs, the worse for wear, disused, abandoned, deserted, discarded, rejected, forsaken, cast off, relinquished, ownerless Opposite: in good repair, in use noun: a person without a home, job, or property. "derelicts who could fit all their possessions in a paper bag"
Jehoshaphat took away many false idols of his father's and they went teaching truth inall of Judah and the mighty men of valor also learned from Jehosaphat who always set himself to seek the lord
Someone at church on Sunday, suggested that the Israelites did not have the Spirit with them yet. They were dependent on the testimony of their parents and others. Im not sure how I feel about that (was used as sort of an excuse for why the Israelites kept leaving God). Thoughts?
Hi this is Corey Miles pray 🙏 for me too keep my Job and get my Bike fixed 😊. Bless 🥺 me to listen to God 🙏 and help my Family 💗. Bless me with some Food and some money 💰 and my ownBed,
Where do you get the small pictures that you use with the stickers in the journal. Will you continue to post theses sticker/ picture journal pages of all pages and past pages prior to judges.
Three of eight southern kings was. 1) Jehoshaphat and Ahab who for his wife jezebel would kill. Jehoshaphat ! A very good lovable jingling Jehoshaphat as you learn. He's a very good atryteller
You guys are great. I love how you break down the Scriptures and make them applicable to our day. There’s only one thing that throws me off… Many times you’re videos end so abruptly it catches me off guard. There’s no “cool down” at the end and sometimes the video ends right when I’m really getting into it. Just one persons observation
They not only came against their God of Israel. But against those who cares for and delivered others from among their religion s breaking and against God's people and they the north did the rebellions like the world around them in the northern land did
Emily sorry pls don’t think this is the only thing I got out of this, I’m just curious after the conversation you guys were having - is there a list somewhere of proper romance novels you’d recommend? Hard to find clean ones lately
Sarah M. Eden has good, clean romances. Melanie Dikerson has fairytale retellings without the use of magic and a little romance. "The Golden Braid' is a repunzel retelling and is one of my favorites. Just in case Emily doesn't answer soon. :)
A thing we learn with jehoshat though you have makes freind they may not be a real genuine friend to know! Everybody by end of jegisphat here comes together in new temple court together! Tho persecutedor war ordained come into this temple of the Lord Who will help us for if we cry in the land or in this ple come : the Lord God says I will : hear as nd help .
Hi! I’m new to this channel. Can someone direct me to where I find the OT timeline that’s referred to? I’d love a copy for me and my teenaged Sunday school class.

Hi this is Felicia Miles pray 🙏 for me and my Family 🙂 and my mom and blessme to take care of my Family 💕. I need money 💸 and some Food in my Apartment 😀.
Is anyone else’s Josiah paper on the Summer of Heroes blank in the circle? Mine doesn’t have the scriptures in it, like it seems David’s and Emily’s does.
North and lions went . Destruction king of Assyria north In Samaria becuz didn't know ...the manner in which the Lord. Required :their-worship,with...Him demanded by Lord of the land , so he sent thelions among them from the south
Great to learn from both of you, brother and sister. I am enjoying learning and watching you'll whilst you teach, using the wonderful aids that you are both using, they make a clearer picture in my mind and thoughts whilst you'ii refer to them. Please could you advise me, from the above video. the Journal you use, ( book ), and the good kings / bad kings, page/tip in?, ( insert ), can both these be obtained from you. I am using the come follow me book for our studies accordingly, but feel your aids will enhance and help to clarify my understanding as to what I need to know as I progress, Sincerely, your brother Stanley.,
@@laceysmart1743, I am a brother in one of the congregations. We call each other brothers and sisters once we are baptised,. We are one big family. Hope you are well Miss/, Ms/Mrs, Lacey, regards, Stanley..
You can order the book hard copy or download to print it out and bind it yourself at Deseret Book website. The tip ins should be on their website, and there should also be links to them in their weekly emails if you subscribe [might pay to go back to the beginning of the year].
At the end you talk about a scripture in 2 Kings 19, I think, that is something about the Spirit is close enough to whisper. Could you please give the exact reference. I can’t find it.
So northern king of Assyria goes in battle against king Jehoshaphat who did say then the love Rd will protect me. And as battle went thru that was where king of Assyria was defeated ! Should we hate enemy and love the lord ask the north king's n people. So miacaiah says you seek God abd to know and serve God.
This old lady is having a hard time getting the items on the time line before you put it away when there is more than one. The one on face book is too small for me to read. Do LOVE watching you each week. Thanks for all the time you spend to help us.
At the end you quoted from 2 Kings 19, I think, about the spirit being close enough to whisper. Could you give the exact reference please. I can’t find it.
I think you may be thinking of the lesson from June 27-July 3 with 1 Kings 19:12 right after the Lord spoke to Elijah in a still small voice. In that lesson Emily made a comment about Elijah feeling alone…that The Lord is so close he doesn’t have to shout. He can whisper…and that we are never alone. Sorry if this is not what you are thinking of…I just remember that because it touched me so much when they were teaching this chapter.
Hey, look Jezebel is a *_bot..._* I have been naughty by staying up all night catchin' up on *Come Follow Me, or as I like to call it **_Follow The Sapper_*
Where can I find the printout of the list of kings over the North and South that Emily showed in her scriptures in this video? I've searched and am not having any luck.

Grateful for this. I enjoy David’s fun comments, and Emily’s observations. The combination keeps me coming back for more.
For the past two years there have been huge trials and experiences that have been going on in my life. In the past 6 months I have been removed from situations that were out of my control, people who had been working behind my back and I could not see it, though for a while I sensed it but could never escape it from my own efforts. I have read scriptures but have felt so discouraged that I can't understand what God wants me to understand, and can't feel the strength I needed because I don't understand all the names and places and other context of the old testament. Thank you for explaining it!
There is a freedom that comes when you trust God to take over and you sit by and wait.
Thanks so much💕💕💕💕
I love your lessons, I am a very visual learning person so o love the stickers and pictures with the journal
So uplifting….thanks to you both..
love you two darlings!
The primary song “Saturday” encourages us to spend Saturday to prepare for Sunday, just as the Jews prepare for their Sabbath
I can't help but add one thing. Derelict means already wrecked and sunk. It means a shell of a ship or a car, not just that it doesn't work. 😊
Wow so much to learn, awesome. Thank you very much 😍👏
Excellent! I learned so much. Thank you.
Thank you for your wonderful lessons
Thank you! 💕
Derelict actually means abandoned. Love the story.
Thank you both for a great summer ❤️❤️❤️
Used some if your material in primary today. Thank you.

Three of eight southern kings was. 1) Jehoshaphat and Ahab who for his wife jezebel would kill. Jehoshaphat ! A very good lovable jingling Jehoshaphat as you learn. He's a very good atryteller
Can anyone suggest more resources to learn about the power of rituals and rhythms?
I love the insight you share. Emily, on a side note, I love your wardrobe! Where do you buy your clothes?
@Lacey, I came on here specifically to ask about her adorable top 🤩😍
She does have an adorable wardrobe! 😍
I would love it if you suggested a marker colour to use for the scriptures you mention ( I use the line upon line ones )
The last st ten drives will return again !
Ahab- asks. Jehosaphat. Though Jehoshaphat didn't know Ahab or his character. Ahab asks Jehoshaphat -shoul I and the people go up ?

Hi! I’m new to this channel. Can someone direct me to where I find the OT timeline that’s referred to? I’d love a copy for me and my teenaged Sunday school class.
If you get their newsletter there is information there to download the file to get the timeline printed.
Thanks, Korine!

I am using the come follow me book for our studies accordingly, but feel your aids will enhance and help to clarify my understanding as to what I need to know as I progress, Sincerely, your brother Stanley.,
Wait. Are they blood brother and sister?
I am missing the tip in of the good kings and bad kings from last week-how can i get that one tip in?
Ahab says should I trust you and I his people?
Does the "BABYLON" time piece go on #29 at the bottom right corner of the poster?
Is there a place to look that lists all 44 heros in one place?
They list it in weekly email and download is there too.
The ship “Mary Celeste” was found derelict. The Titanic was not.
The girl needs to stop interrupting him every time he has something to share. Otherwise very well done.
Israel was carried outoftheir own Assyrian land into the southern kingdom a few of them were carried to and others destroyed
Some : kings in southern kingdom were good. But after the 200 years. He say and southern king. Would become then destroyed
All Israel walked in sins committed by. Jeroboam and kept passing these bad laws. For 200 years.
What happened to the ARK and Covenant? Was it destroyed or did the lord take it up?
Hey, I didn't see the link to the Elder Bednar "get the people back to the Temple comment." Great lesson BTW. Thanks. ❤

How do I get the journal you are using.
I know that Deseret Book sells them in store and online.
