It's a very under appreciated song but it holds dear to some. I don't relate to its message in any way but I find the layout of the song and the way he sings it to be intoxicating.
I come here since 2010. 10 years passed and so many things have changed, including many people finding this masterpiece for many different reasons. But I just have one thing to say to ya'all, explore more Timber Timbre songs, they are one the most underrated bands currently. Greetings from Brazil. Enjoy!
A young woman broke my heart, but introduced me to this amazing band a few years ago. Like the old songs the most, but I'm hooked for life. Greetings from Denmark straight back at you
For the past six years I've gotten into extended moods where I just roam my empty house singing this on repeat. Hits a certain brand of southern gothic fearful melancholy like nothing else.
Only way to get a song played at your own fune is to promote it to the ones who will eventually plan it, two-three days after you die. Why give a fuck anyways, you're dead.
@@basstrammel1322 best way is to make a list of songs and put it in your fireproof lock box with important docs. Social security card, bonds Etc. Stuff like that, that people will be looking for when your gone! My dad did this! And left us all little notes! Best unexpected present ever🤙🤙❤
This is my everyday song, I'm always singing a part of it no matter what moment I'm in, there's nothing that has brought me greater comfort in the last seven years. Thank you, Timber Timbre.
"You sent a music video some time ago. I just opened it. It was so original and well done. A man with a guitar in a barn. Such a tremendous impact for so little production costs." -what my daddy said about your video.
Very nice. Heard this and others by Timbre in the docu-film 'Stories We Tell'. I can't think of a better collection of songs for that wonderful film. Makes me wanna get back into song writing. Thanks.
i love this song and the comments... sometimes I feel too unique and idk its kind of refreshing to know that there are so many out there who love the vibe this song gives out. sooo chill, and btw.... I too have seen the demon host
Tremendous impact both visually and audibly, really simple chord progression but once you tie everything together it's astounding, haven't heard much like this. 1:45 totally reminded me of Bon Iver lol love
I first heard this about a month after nearly dying. It was played whilst the end credits of Adventures of Wolfboy played, I think! It had John Turturro dancing with circus folk and was about as surreal as you get. Love this song...
I'm just gonna chime in here and say, I too am an Atheist, but a good song is a good song.. in fact I love a lot of Sam Cooks Gospel stuff... anything that is sung with feeling is MOVING. You could be singing about leprechauns and dragons, and if you sing it with feeling and like you mean it.. I'm totally sold!! LOVE TIMBER TIMBRE!
As a deployed an lightly injured special ops sergeant.. I came to the realization I just want that flash of light that finally put me to rest with those I've lost
I sent up a prayer for you. You will find peace, and I pray you find it here on earth with us first. Never stop reaching for connection. Never stop searching for beauty. Youre never alone, even when the chemicals in your brain make it seem like it.
I listen to this on the regular, and listened to this and a handful of other of your great songs, Timber Timbre, driving from Louisiana to Texas. Perfect fit. Thank you.
"Here is a church...and all their little hearts at ease for another weeks disease" is some real shit just by the way. Every lyric is so impactful I wish people I exposed to his music actually appreciated it more often
Death she must have been your will A bone beneath the reaper's veil With your voice my belly sunk And I began to feel so drunk Candle candle on my clock Oh lord I must have heard you knock me out of bed As the flames licked my head and my lungs filled up black in their tiny little shack It was real and I repent All those messages you sent clear as day, but in the night Oh I couldn't get it right Here is a church and here is a steeple Open the doors there are the people And all their little hearts at ease For another week's disease And eagle eagle towel and scream I never once left in between I was on the fence and I never wanted your two cents Down my throat in the pit, with my head upon the spit Oh reverend please can I chew your ear? I have become what I most fear And I know there's no such thing as ghosts but I have seen the demon host…
Heard this song on the movie, The Gambler and it was perfect for the scene. Roxanne's comment below nails it perfectly as the scene was about a character who seems conflicted with his life's choices and is ready to walk the path of being "good" but perhaps he has done bad for far too long and for that reason will never be forgiven. So would it be for whats to be in the next life or what he knows now in the current?
yo había conocido a timbre timbre por like a mountain por un programa (como en el 2010 o 2013), no le había dado la oportunidad hasta hace muy poco y que increíbles canciones
I had strong feelings for my pastor non sexual in a church I went to for a short time, it wasn't anything sexual or romantic and It was overwhelming and as a Godly man he responded correctly but I never met a pastor like him, and it hurts to love. "Love one another as I have loved you" I loved him as a servant of God and I realized some things are better left unsaid.😢
justo cuando pierdo las esperanzas de todo la vida me salva con musica...no se como llegue aqui, pero gracias al universo he llegado y no me puedo sacar esta melodia de la cabeza, me sana y me hunde a la vez pero no quiero nada mas
Jesus got your back. Even if you haven't met him yet. This song and a few others of his brought me back to God, from the depths of some pretty serious ritual magic, during the afterglow of my last good trip. Nothing wrong with a trip, but once you get the message hang up the phone.
Breaking bad played magic arrow by this band. I thought it was a great song so I looked through some of timber timbre’s songs and found this one. This was an amazing find!!!
I love this it's an amazing song & despite being simple, has something very original about it, nice one Timbre Timbre & I think I may have no choice but to come to your gig in Brighton quite soon (lucky you eh !)
Timeless. I’ll probably still listen to this in 30 years. Not often but when that mood hits.
It's a very under appreciated song but it holds dear to some. I don't relate to its message in any way but I find the layout of the song and the way he sings it to be intoxicating.
fr it creeps up on u and u find urself craving this song suddenly
Fuck you! Once a month at least
Just spent 45 mins looking for this band because i used to listen to this on cbc3 😂
Jesus, this is just quality on every level. Guitar, check, Singing, check. Lyrics, check. Mix, check. Recording, check. Video, check.
10 years later, and this song still makes me cry.

Salve mano, concordo com vc!
estamos em todos os lugares! timber timbre de fato continua sendo absurdamente subestimado
For the past six years I've gotten into extended moods where I just roam my empty house singing this on repeat. Hits a certain brand of southern gothic fearful melancholy like nothing else.
This song is incredible .. it’s been years and still brings me to tears.

Good taste in music.

Thank you Mark Wahlberg and the movie The Gambler for bringing me here
Brilliant song from a criminally underrated Canadian artist. Makes me proud to be Canadian!
The way this song just is, the way he sings it, has felt so close to my heart since I first heard it. It only grows stronger.
Dylann Marie same
hey beautiful, I see you
Soul touching! I cant stop listening!
for me a person long gone lives inside this song - it's no good to me anymore, keeps bringing the dead back to life
This is a gem. Amazing songwriting and haunting lyrics.
It may sound morbid but I want this played at my funeral. What an amazing song.
Only way to get a song played at your own fune is to promote it to the ones who will eventually plan it, two-three days after you die. Why give a fuck anyways, you're dead.
That's actually very cool, I get it. So bittersweet, so perfect.

agreed
The Stand brought me here. I love finding new music like this!
May God be with you. We all have demons to overcome
Not easy.
I came here after a couple of lines of this song in The Gambler. Revisit every couple of months - beautiful song, dark subject matter.
This is my everyday song, I'm always singing a part of it no matter what moment I'm in, there's nothing that has brought me greater comfort in the last seven years.

Almost 3 years later, and this song still brings me pure nirvana

his voice is something else. its hauntingly beautiful.
2025 roll on !!! Will still be listening to this gem 💎
How does this make me feel more everytime i hear it
probably the best song I've heard in the past 10 years. thank you
this is the song i have always tried to make.
HONESTLY! THIS IS GOLD!
Looks like somebody beat you to it
The documentary, The Stories We Tell, brought me to this song. Beautiful film. This song is very powerful.
The Gambler got me here and I lovenit!
I watched The Gambler for the first time today and I had to find this song, makes me want to own a winery if you catch my drift
indeed, a wonderful song
The last scene: And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. Cash quoted this too....
I saw this video shortly after it was released. Blown away that it's been 10 years...
Right?! I discovered TT in 2012 and i still remember exactly what i was doing when i first heard this song/album
the Gambler...GREATNESS...that's what it's about.
2.30 is an incredible shot. Perfect for the menacing demeanor of the song. Beaut.
I came here from a beautiful person that you never heard of. But she is amazing and made an upbeat piece of this. And I miss her
Been a fan for a couple years just wanted to flash that
The pale horse reference at the end of the video is just incredible. Good and meaningful music we have here.

My father died a month ago. It was cancer that got him. This song never meant more to me.

It’s hit me so hard!
This song is featured in, ' Infinity Pool,' so happy to hear it! :D
I remember that tour they played at a church and my brother took me to see them perform

JT was great in that flick! I thought he looked great with the long, grey ponytail! It's crazy how versatile he can be!

This freaking band rocks, I'm digging this garden of good tunes.
It's one guy.
the shadow self of Patrick Watson embodied.
Death she must have been your will
A bone beneath the reaper's veil
With your voice my belly sunk
And I began to feel so drunk
Candle candle on my clock
Oh lord I must have heard you knock me out of bed
As the flames licked my head and my lungs filled up black in their tiny little shack
It was real and I repent
All those messages you sent clear as day, but in the night
Oh I couldn't get it right
Here is a church and here is a steeple
Open the doors there are the people
And all their little hearts at ease
For another week's disease
And eagle eagle towel and scream
I never once left in between
I was on the fence and I never wanted your two cents
Down my throat in the pit, with my head upon the spit
Oh reverend please can I chew your ear? I have become what I most fear
And I know there's no such thing as ghosts but I have seen the demon host…
Tabi Bear I think its eagle, eagle talon scream!!

Tabi Bear I believe the line "Oh reverend please can I chew your ear?" Is "Oh reverend please catch you your ear."

this song is so lovely, very well constructed.

Yes! It makes me sad that no one stays to listen, because it's so good. My favorite theater to clean at the moment.
love that tape delay on the vocal
I am always listening to the song when I am writing a deep story. It´s such a perfect way to become a melancholy wrack.
I love this song. The video is so amazing... My favorite part? Is the last note as it resolves, into dischord.
Seeing him tonight in calgary ! Woo
