Might I suggest making your own axe/hatchet blade guard/sheath? It's a pretty simple project no matter what route you choose. If you put grommets in the sled, you can make a sheath. You can buy a small sheet of kydex for cheap and form it with a heat gun or toaster over. You could also do PVC instead. Leather is easy enough as well. Plenty of options and a fun little project. Any of these will offer much better protection than cardboard and duct tape. That is stopping nothing if you fall on or drop that hatchet.

Love my Minipeak XL, BUT, take repair tape with you. On my last trip out the center pole broke through the pocket at the tent peak and brought the whole thing down. Thankfully I had not yet fired up the wood stove, so the collapse was no big deal.
