In this episode of The Ranveer Show, we welcome Michael Vaughan. He is an English cricket commentator and former cricketer who captained the England cricket team from 2003 to 2008. He is considered one of England's most successful cricket captains, leading the team to their famous Ashes victory in 2005.
In today’s episode, we talked about the 2024 IPL and his opinions on Indian cricket players. No comparison, but Wasim, Waqar and McGrath or any other great bowler from their era were from the time when Cricket was dominated by bowlers. Bumrah is bowler of modern era where cricket has evolved in favour of batsmen, be it technologically, rule wise, pitch wise, ground dimensions wise. Despite all these factors Bumrah is a toughest challenge for batsmen. If he isn't greater than Wasim, Waqar, McGrath, he isn't any less than them either.
Bumrah is clearly the best in all formats.
bumrah test record is similar to test record of the greatest strike bowler in history known as malcolm marshall. he is considered the greatest bowler in history due to his 20.97 strike average in tests with 202 wickets. Bumrah meanwhile has 20.69 strike average in test cricket, which is even better, and he too has 159 test wickets. haters may cry but that wont change the fact that bumrah is one of the only 6 exclusive greatest strike bowlers in history. Andy Roberts sir himself said so and he was mentor and bowling partner of malcolm Marshall in the invincible windies as part of the most feared pace quartet in history, and he says he saw only bumrah as worthy of joining their pace quartet as a partner to bowl opening spells. no othet bowler in the history he ever considered Worthy of this honour apart from Bumrah, that's enough

I think Bumrah will be a GOAT like them by the end of his career. But still, he is something else! This era is absolutely hell for the bowlers. He is giving this kinda performances on flat pitches and 65-70m boundaries. There were so many legendary bowlers in the previous generations but in the modern era there is only one standout all format bowler, and he is Jaspreet Bumrah. They might be bigger names with greater stats and bigger reputations but what Bumrah has achieved within such short period is simply remarkable!

I would say Jassi is the Glenn McGrath of the modern era ....There are many wicket takers in 1990 & 2000 decades but none were like McGrath who took wickets as well as a very economical bowler ....And this is the toughest time as a bowler with batting friendly pitches & rules favouring the batsmen ....Even Ambrose & McGrath would have gone for boundaries in today's T20'S ....Akram & Waqar would have gone for plenty of runs

No Brian Lara because he was not good at ODI as he was in Tests , still with him even in tests he has not won much matches for his team . Most of it were either loss or draw.
Vivian Richard’s didn’t face likes of Courtney Walsh , Curtly ambrose and the prime of Wasim Akram , he only faced when he was newbie and didn’t had those lethal out swingers and reverse swing then .
Still you can say Vivian as best batman in his era 70’s - 80’s also he had the luxury of best team with all time greats. Sachin played more than 2 decades in bowlers era with most of his career had team dependency on him

yes i agree that according to stats bumrah is not one of the greatest bowler but today if you see fielding placement rule, new ball in innings change rule,flat pitches all of these support batsman completely that was not the case in 90's because there was always contest between bat and ball where 250 was great score but 350 can be easily chased today looking at conditions today bumrah is a goat

First of all Dennis lillee was first fast bowler that had all skills as a bowler after him malcolm Marshall and others got influence due to him

Cummins plays most of his cricket in bowler friendly pitches which favour the pace bowler, whereas Bumrah doesn't have that luxury. Bumrah has better numbers than some of the best bowlers played the game. He is playing a lot more cricket than those bowlers. He is at the top of his game across formats. If we say sachin way ahead of virat because he played the tougher bowlers and tough batting pitches. Bumrah is ahead of any bowler because he is doing it in an era where being a bowler is a biggest nightmare a cricketer could have.
That makes him definitely one of the best but not the, first of no he doesn't have the best stats out there don't just lie blatantly, except the last point you mentioned everything else is a lie.

@@mrbme you children really don’t know the skill levels of the legendary bowlers of the 80’s-early 2000’s… we’ll wait till bumrah reaches even 250 test and odi wickets, and manages to keep ip his pace. In fact he’s already a good 5-7k slower than atleast wasim and waqar younis. He may be comparable to them if he keeps up his form but i highly doubt it’ll continue till end of this decade

Bumrah is an amazing rare generational talent.
To become a legend Bumrah needs to perform in a WTC final or WC final and win the game for India. Only then he can compare with the Legends. Had he won the 2023 WC final with a 5 wicket haul of his own, he would have become a legend. But he will remain a Great.

He was second in the list of most wickets taker with the best economy. No bolwers can match him. And note= our batsman failed in the finals , that's why we lost world cup. Our bolwers gave there best

Waseem is a differnt league and had one of the best control over the bowl and can bowl any delivery at will and best swing bowlerbever. Bumrah has good control and very intelligent very difficult to pick due to his action..
Bumrah would have been goat for me if he would have taken wicket of travis head on that final day . He is yet to perform on bigger stages & get us a trophy.

Na I think Bumrah beats them all. Those bowlers bowled in bowler friendly conditions. IN a T20 match I dont they could be as effect as Bumrah. Mcgrath was literally on bench when he was in IPL(He was probably past his prime during that time but he cant beat Bumrah especially in death)

@@loveutube04 well let’s not talk about IPL coz i don’t think it’s cricket. The same dale Steyn was a nightmare for Indian and other batsmen in test cricket. The same guys who excel in IPL struggle playing the same format in international competitions. 20-30 years back all these batsmen used to study bowlers on their own without technology so this argument doesn’t hold true. Am not sure how much of a cricket connoisseur you are but your argument based on IPL as a benchmark puts a lot of doubt in my mind about your cricketing knowledge.

Bumrah is simply the best bowler India has ever produced. Never seen a bowler who gives so less freebie to batters. I can safely say Bumrah would have troubled greats like Sachin and Lara more than Wasim or Mcgrath ever done .

Forget any Indian cricketer, no other sportsmen of India can match the magic of akram…bumrah got lucky in test coz of some of the most horrendous defensive technique of all time….most of the test batting greats of todays era would have struggled to make into eleven of first class teams of that era…any one can be better and would always seem better than mcgrath,he was really an overrated bowler,he really took advantage of bouncy Aussie wickets and used to bowl with big scores behind his back while every other great bowler of that era was good in one format,not in both of them….so comparing bumrah or mcgrath with akram is only happened just on the basis of stats while in real time and real world the answer to the question would even be subjective….it will be completely objective…..if cricket would have been a global sport,akram would be equivalent to zidane

Bumrah is only comparable to Wasim Akram. Waqar has an average of 46 in Australia along with 76 in India. So can't put him in Burmah's league to be honest. No disrespect to anyone just spitted the fact no hate.
Unfortunately, his peak had not stayed for long due to injuries but he did not tour India during his peak. And only one tour to Australia during the period. We can't really compare Bumrah since he is bowling in an era of total dominance by batters. That goes in his favor. But I could just wish we had more videos of Waqar prime years. It was absolute art mixed with pace.
During his peak days Waqar once took 34 wickets in 7 games. 2nd Best strike (42 balls) in test cricket, let Bumrah finish and then compare

Bowlers have only to bowl a few overs now a days and they have so many trainers around them while in the past it was not the case. Fast bowlers had to bowl longer spells and had only to play the longer versions of the game. Its not fair to compare them to the comtemporary lot. And dont forget, bowlers like Akram have added variations to the art of fast bowling. Can we say this for the likes of Bumrah?
The problem with you guys is that the minute someone good comes along you start comparing him with the best of the best, someone bowls one delivery at 150 suddenly Shoaib and Brett Lee are in danger. Bhumra is a great fast bowler and has a long carrier ahead of him let him hang his shoes then we'll see ,till then watch and learn.
