Waqar, Wasim, Donald, Walsh, Lillee are were great bowlers of their time. The era they belong to was dominated by bowlers. Cricket has evolved with time in favour of Batsman. Like Technology wise, Rule wise, Ground Dimensions wise aand despite all these things any batsman from today's era doesn't feel comfortable facing Bumrah. So yes, Bumrah isn't any less than those legendary bowlers.
Edit: Moreover if anyone has any doubt about Bumrah being the best in current era, his ODIs economy (4.60) and T20 economy (6.20) says it all. No other PACER (making debut with or after Bumrah did ie 2016) is close to him.

Waqar before injury (1992) was lethal. Probably the best bowler in the history of cricket. His stats before 92 are unbelievable. Almost Every ball was above 150 plus with late banana swing. Even after his injury he recorded 153 against South Africa. Imagine how quick he was before injury. He was unplayable even on dead pitches as he never relied on pitches to take wickets. Alec Stewart who played almost against avery bowler in that era he said that waqar was quickest. At that time there were no machines to record speed. He was a treat to watch

There are 2 white balls today in 50 over cricket vs only 1 back then. I saw no reverse swing from Waqar when the bowl was only 20 overs old or lesser. His reverse swing used to start around over 35. His economy rate in 50 over cricket is still worse than Bumrah's in an era where bats used to be thinner. There is no comparison. Waqar and Wasim struggled to defend even 350+ in 4th innings in Brisbane against Australia in 1999. I saw how Australians were scoring at 4+ in a test match against their bowling.
The only 90's era bowler that you can really compare Bumrah against is Ambrose. Only Ambrose had the level of control that Bumrah had. Ambrose used to demolish the same Australian batting of Waugh brothers and co that used to thrash these Pakistanis.
That was bowlers era less technology and lots of malpractices were common like ball tampering etc but nowadays these things don’t happen and batters dominate completely but bumrah alone is dominating in this era which explains his excellence

The Ws were known to take the pitch out of equation. Batters would be sailing till they returned fir a spell. 161/2 to 200 all out. 200/1 to 250 all out. Defended 140 or even under 120. Bumrah is fantastic but Ws were amazing.

Comparing Bumrah with Waqar Younis is fool's dream. Wasim & Waqar (2 W's), that pair was lethal in their era of 80s & 90s. This pair was considered to be the best. A nightmare for the batsmen, destroying batting lineup of the opponent was their ultimate goal.
As one may recall, the black storm (West Indies bowling attack) of 70s & 80s, same was with this pair. Their era is called as Golden & Prime era for 🇵🇰 Cricket.

Different Era Different Bowlers.... Bumrah is a Modern Day living legend with so much in favour of batsmen he castles big team with sheer ease. Bumrah is in his own league, totally incomparable irrespective of the era.
Glenn McGrath has better stats than Wasim Akram in the main ODI World Cups it doesn't matter what you do in Pakistan or India tour it all matters what you do in the main ODI World Cup and how you help team to win now one can argue that McGrath played in perhaps the greatest cricketing team of this century at least if not the best ever and that's true, however McGrath was the most wicket takers and the Player of the series in 2007 World Cup after he lost his beloved wife and was shattered, something which Wasim,Waqar or Bumrah could never ever be even if given an opportunity on the top of that McGrath also has better bowling records against Sachin, Lara, Dravid and others Sachin Tendulkar when he was at his best he smashed Pakistan and others except when he faced that unplayable Australian side he never scored a game a 40 against them and McGrath always got him...

I may not agree with Wasim Sir, because if you compare the eras in which Bumrah played and Waqar played, there is a lot of difference because in modern day cricket there are so many restrictions for a bowler and modern day batters with so many innovative shots who can even smash your good deliveries. So to perform in this era with some exceptional bowling figures is very rare. So for me Bumrah is any day better than anybody in all three formats.
Quality of batsmanship has reduced big time. Waqar bowled to waughs, lara, ponting, kallis, sachin, dravid, Hayden, gilly, and so many more. Today's gen has not seen same class at all. That said bumrah is good, but not close to waqar

Those time pitches were bowling friendly, Where no DRS, reverse swing, old ball and many other things were available to help a bowler. But Bumrah is dominating in todays batting dominated era. This shows his class and excellence. Bumrah is best.

Sorry Mr.Wasim Akram, I am your huge fan and I think you have been the greatest Bowler world has seen , but as far Waqar is considered I cannot use the same statement for him since I have seen him on many occasions that he was responsible for his team defeat becoz he never used his brain unlike Bumrah, so please don't compare him with Bumrah although he was also a brilliant bowler but lagging in intelligence unlike you.

You can not compare bumrah and waqar. The latter has longer career and took more wickets. If bumrah sustain this form for another 5-6 years he will be legends no doubt on that. But there are lots of legend fast bowler earlier. Like waqar, wasim Makram, McGrath, Allan Donald, Ambrose, Dale Steyn etc

Waqar and Waseem bowled in tandem such long spells together that todays bowlers simply cannot bowl, same was true for Ambrose and Walsh. Cricket was different then, no T20s and franchise, first class and ODIs were the norm.

This is bad. Wasim and Waqar in their primes were something else. Waqar in his prime was perhaps ahead of Wasim as well. The Pakistan bowling lineup up back then has to be the 2nd greatest pace attack of all time. The greatest being the lethal 4 of West Indies (Hitman(alternatively Smiling Assasin), The Whispering Death, The Big Bird, and The Greatest Bowler of All Time.
I have watched Was and Waq throughout their career. Certainly they were sight to behold. Don't compare them with Bumrah. Let Bumrah play for 4 more years and let's see what he does. As of now Was is no. 1, Waq is no. 2 and Bumrah 3 between them. But Bumrah potentially can cross both of them in next 4 years if he can play without mishaps.
