@madog1, I have to believe that these kinds of things are done by those same individuals we've seen videos of called "People of Walmart."🤣🤪😵I can't believe that some people actually do things like this... You want to believe "Nohhhhh.... They did this just to make us laugh and cringe, they didn't really empty a can of grease, smearing it on their vehicle's suspension to 'make squeaks go away'...." or "drive a new car 90,000 miles without ever changing the oil...." x_x Reminds me of Paris Hilton who was being followed by the paparazzi and suddenly she stops on the side of the road. They approach to ask if she's ok and apparently she's telling a friend on the phone that her Bentley Coupe has just "died" and the paparazzi has a look and says "Your vehicle ran out of gas...." to which she replied "How is that, it had gas in it before?!?!" He explained "You have to put more in it as you drive..." So he went to the store and bought a gas can and got some fuel for her.... It seems as if she didn't realize "stopping at a station to refuel a vehicle" is a general requirement of driving a combustion engine vehicle.

Back when cars had points, their inherent need for regular attention caused the rest of the car to be looked at on a regular basis. Cars were needy compared to today so, there was the side benefit of learning about how cars worked.
I remember, as a kid, my Dad taking the car to the gas station to get the valves done. This was back when gas stations often had garages. I still remember riding my bike by the gas station later, going up, and seeing Curtis (station owner) doing the valve job on the flathead inline six (I knew that much). So THAT'S what valves are! Fascinating to me as a kid. I was so impressed. Yes, the car ran so smooth after Dad picked it up. The good ol' days.
Today, cars have computers and long life components so, the vast majority of people just drive until the computer can't fake it any longer. Everything suddenly fails and the owner has no clue why.

The engines were probably on backorder if it was a 2013-2018 (roughly) Kia. There was an issue in the engine manufacturing of that time so thousands upon thousands of Kias just had their engines fail. I think it was due to a faulty crankshaft. We have had the engine of a relative's 2017 Kia replaced twice for this very reason. Why people buy these cars is beyond me. Of course the lady not having the oil changed regularly definitely did not help. @@malachieclipse9507

    Confession time.
I worked on the oil rigs and pretty much all the diesels are equipped with an emergency intake shut off valve. the reason for this is there can be gasses in the air and they can cause your engine to start over revving and won't shut off. SO you hit the switch and a spring loaded valve shuts off the air intake.
Three of us couldn't get a truck to start. screwed around for hours checked the switch it was in the run position. Finally had a mechanic come out. He opened the hood reached over and reset the valve. they have to be manually reset we all knew that. 20 years ago so now I can tell the story and laugh.

apprentice heavy equipment tech here. Thought I broke a machine one time doing a simple check-over on it because when I tested the PASO, I couldn't get it to start even after flipping the switch back. Then learned that they do indeed need to be manually opened again, but that some newer models have a solenoid in them that you can't open until you take the PASO apart.

Don't feel too bad. Had a customer tow a vacuum truck to our shop for the same reason. It wouldn't start when the morning crew came on at the plant. I got in, heard the telltale "no compression" spinning engine, and knew right away what it was. Pretty hefty tow bill just to reset the valve.

It reminds me of another video where a pickup owner declined to have the u joints on his 4x4 pickup replaced which resulted in the u joints ruining both the transfer case and transmission. What is it that some car owners ignore things that are easily fixed and don't cost that much which would result in more damage and a far bigger repair bill?

i think its because people think they get scammed with too high costs on car repairs. the markup they make on parts is insane when the parts are already overpriced before markup and we all know what cheap shit the sell. so we decline repairs we think are not necessary right now because why should i change a leaking air conditioner condenser in the middle of the winter? and why should i pay 400€ (cant remember the real price) for a aluminium block that is very cheap to produce and is produced in huge quantities. Maybe they should have told me that running a air conditioner dry is bad thing and that it runs in the winter to dehumidify the front window when you press the button. ;)

I successfully swapped the engine in my ranger, currently working on swapping the transmission in the truck I bought for my first vehicle that I rebuilt after a wreck. And it’s been about 5 or 6 months since I did the engine swap on the ranger and it’s still very good, had to daily drive it while my f150 was down since the transmission messed up, wouldn’t shift out of first.

The customer not having the kick to open tailgate feature I understand in some scenarios. In 2020 you could order a BMW X3 with a kick-to-open handsfree tailgate as part of a convenience package. If you opted for a tow hitch, the sensors for the tailgate "kick" feature were removed. The car still came with the convenience package (which includes the hands free tailgate), and even a nice note that shows you how your new BMW hands-free tailgate operates with a photo of someone opening their tailgate with a foot kick and a smile lol.
