      Fact of the matter is cars ain't easy. I'm good with computers, not cars. I'm gonna personally make a mistake with my car eventually and well, that's just part of life. You shouldn't be ridiculed for not knowing some specialists knowledge

    • @kellynnd5361
      @kellynnd5361 Рік тому +9

      @@AstralPhnx no one expects people to have specialist knowledge, common sense is another matter though...
      i can't tell you how many people have either called ahead or showed up driving the vehicle with brake issues, mainly a busted line pumping out all their brake fluid or seized caliper making the tire lock up, or like now when it's hitting 40 c off and on with humidity and they can't drive for 5 mins without it overheating and coolant boiling out of it...after we told them "don't drive it, get it towed to us".
      then they get upset with us, because it costs them more for repairs, or even requires a new block, because they drove a vehicle that was clearly, even to a no where near car expert, has something major wrong with it making it unsafe to drive or possibly damage it more.
      several years ago, we had an elderly couple limp in off the hwy in a subaru, packed to the gills to go to their cottage a further hour and a half north. we were already 2 hours north of their hometown. it was a friday afternoon.
      their tranny light had come on about 30 mins south on the hwy and they decided to continue, they were going to try and make it to their cottage, but thankfully decided to stop at us... because we're the last repair shop for over an hour, which they didn't know. by the time they reached us, their entire back end was covered in tranny fluid and there was pretty much none left IN the tranny(it's been a while i think they blew a seal or something). they were literally ghosting the last couple of klms to reach us with almost no gears which are controlled by the tranny. they had cooked the tranny driving it without fluids.
      so, we basically had to tell them, to get it towed home and it was now undrivable. they asked why couldn't we fix it? we pointed out it was an older model(it was i think about 10 years old at the time), and it would require a new or used tranny in order to be functional again, and that it could take days for us to locate one for them. we're a little 2 bay local garage, we can order parts, but sometimes it can take a few days for delivery as we're rural.
      they learned a very, very expensive lesson about using common sense when you have car trouble. the tow truck driver tried to get them a discount, but couldn't and it was a $450 tow one way back... and then they still had to pay for a replacement tranny and labour etc.

    BTW, this goes both ways. I took my nearly new Z06 in to the dealer due to a “clunk” sound that had developed in the rear suspension. They could find no problem. Of course, the “clunk” was obvious as I left, so I took it back. No problem found. Third time I asked if I could see the underside for myself, and the “lead mechanic” at this dealer took me into the bay and I walked under the rear of the car and instantly noticed that one of the fasteners that held the large U-clamps that secured the anti-sway bar was missing and the U-clamp was just hanging. It took me two seconds to see it. I pointed it out and the “master mechanic” literally turned red.

      "master" mechanic lol. We had a guy that put too much pride into that title at one of my jobs and he was the laziest, fattest, good for nothing, dwindling ,swindling S.O.B.I have ever met. He thought just because he's had that position and title for over 15 years at that shop he automatically deserved the utmost respect and it was supposed to be a given that what ever he said was gold and no one else could contest him. He was so narcissistic because of this too, all the other guys would never talk back to him , challenge him on anything, etc.. but I did. I called his BS all the time so he tried to get my fired by telling our manager that I was stealing air fresheners 😂 The very first day I came to work there He didn't introduce himself or say anything other than" are you a betting Man?" And I told him it depends but basically the bet was if I could change a set of brakes faster than him I would win $100, so I put up my money and told him let's get to it, He tried to get one of the helpers to rack the car on the lift for him and I said no, that is part of the service, you have to rack and set the loft yourself. Since he was a disgusting fatbody , I wiped the floor with him . Easiest 100 I ever made

But because that part of the console circuit board was probably damaged (most likely corrosion or bad ground), it showed a static box. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole circuit board, because those circuit boards are a jigsaw puzzle.

    I fixed my exhaust pipe with a beer can, 2 hose clamps and some jb weld. The patch lasted 6 years. Still fine when I sold the truck. Only “ rigging” I ever did to a vehicle to date. Except the time I used a string on my wipers for two days when the motor went.

    The blown muffler is very common on old carburetored point ignition vehicles. The ignition momentarily turns off due to a loose wire etc. The carburetor keeps putting gas into the engine. Gas hits hot muffler. Boom!

    Bro I feel for the person with the mattress. I ran over a semi tire about. 3 weeks ago. Cracked my bumper, tore it my fender liner, pushed the fender up and one of the fasteners is sitting on top of the door so I can't open it, can't open the hood, and it just absolutely demolished my rocker panel. It tore the bumper off the car behind me too.
