If you're doing something like this; I STRONGLY recommend adding a taut wire from top left to bottom right, and another top right to bottom left, there is basically nothing stopping these things falling sideways, add triangles for engineering strength. Also, if you're not bolting the extensions to the original shelves like these guys did, you also need to complete the box and add a compressive member between the top corners and bottom corners.
Maybe mine is defective. I’ve been trying for 2 days just to connect one shelf with these baby screws included in the packaging. The screws just stop screwing before the reach the shelf. Goodwill will be getting this mess!!
1:13 to 1:16 made me incredibly anxious hence the thumbs down. I would suggest including an advisory note to not use the table saw in the manner that you did. Overall, I appreciate you showing the whole process!
Table saw should be elevated to a comfortable height that allows for easy moving around the saw including moving away if necessary. I don't know how kickback would be kneeling down, I have had the saw catch a piece of wood and send it through the drywall behind me. I also have cut my fingers twice. Still have my digits but a push stick the most valuable thing you will ever use in the shop.
@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog I meant to say, to you when you were doing it, I felt concern 😅. That is a pretty cool hack though! I wish I had the power tools to do it!
Holy Cr@p! I am so doing this! What a great project! Love it. That Cali though, lol! Adorable. So glad you tried the hand planer. What are your thoughts on it? 5:14
I built 2 of these myself and I am having the same proble. I put in some plastic shelf units in them and everytime I open the shed they fall over. I think I will do this. Thanks 1:17
I thought you couldn't paint galvanized metal without it quickly peeling away. Did that Rustoleum spray paint actually workout for you in the longterm?
I'm not sure, but I've used these shelves heavily over the last three years and they've held up awesome! I probably wouldn't load up every single shelf with books, but I do think for most things it's fine! 😊
The bottom three shelves are held in place by the notches I made in the wood. The top shelf I pre-drilled little holes through the metal and installed two little screws from the underside into the wood shelf.
Awesome idea! I’d buy a $30 respirator on amazon so you don’t inhale the paint fumes and can use it while sawing!
Absolutely genius!
That is top shelf work. And thats the best way to paint and great teamwork on the saw
love a man's approval 😑
Great Job!!! I love it. I'm going to try this myself
Thank you!
Please please please please please use a pushy stick thing when using a circular saw.
yeah.. also tie up your hair..
And respirator!!! Because of cancer ...
and tie that hair up better. and the bare feet in most videos OMG. Stepping on a nail would end that fast. Glad she has boots on in this one.
Great job. It is amazing you can get anything done with three kids. Great work, well done
yeah handling the table saw like a maniac.... cant even watch 1:32
Great job👍

Was concern when you cut the wood, inhaling the wood particles to your lungs?
If you were concerned about that you could just use a mask. 🙂

Thanks :) I don't know what a hand planer is?
Wow!
I built 2 of these myself and I am having the same proble. I put in some plastic shelf units in them and everytime I open the shed they fall over. I think I will do this. Thanks 1:17

Yep, it's only very slightly marred over the years and I haven't done touch up. 😊
DOPE AS F**K
Most people don’t own machines like these…how do I do this by myself in a tiny NYC apartment??
I wonder what is the weight one of the ikea shelf units is supposed to be able to bear?

What specific black spray paint did you use? I want to do this for my shelves (:
It's Rust-Oleum oil-rubbed bronze. It's a higher quality spray paint so it costs around $8. Let me see if I can find a link for ya..
Here's an affiliate link to what I used: amzn.to/2BcPeTF
How did you secure the top shelf? Are the rest of the shelves secured?
The bottom three shelves are held in place by the notches I made in the wood. The top shelf I pre-drilled little holes through the metal and installed two little screws from the underside into the wood shelf.
Waw😃👍
to fit the width of the long wooden piece inside the shelf, what width did you have it at?
what is the music
How old are you?
I'm 28. Why? Lol
I hate video's with no measurements..no commentary.. just annoying music
