You can also use the Envelope follower set to produce a random LFO and assign it to the sample slice. This then randomly chooses which sample to play and a simple one pad pattern can evolve endlessly since every time it triggers a different slice (section) of the sample will play.
Great video. I used to do this exact thing in ableton with my APC 40, which has a crossfader. Drumfills for days. My Akai Force is arriving tomorrow - yay!
hey man just saw your stuff looking for a way to mute notes instead of audio on sample/synth tracks. nice to see someone other than Joe Filbrun I can send to my Force bros to watch. thank you!
thank *YOU* this is awesome. there's also a way to lay down steps randomly in the step sequencer, but i haven't figured it out how to do it to all slices so i applied it per slice.
I love this! I actually traded my OT for an Akai Force. No regrets, but I did miss the randomness that can be created with the crossfader. Now, I realize that I can do practically the same stuff on this machine.
Excellent, I’m glad you liked it! This is just a quick demo, if you chop the sample up into smaller slices and spread it across more steps, you can bring much more randomness into the pattern, it can get very Octatrack-y! I really hope Akai introduce conditional trigs at some point, that’s the only thing missing really…
@@ildarkinildarkin It’s similar, but the Elektron boxes have more logic options - you can set trigs to play if the one before does / doesn’t, etc. So there are ‘conditional’ states, not just probability.
@@MaxipokMusic Oh, ok, that's right. BTW TE OP-Z has really nice sequencer with such sorts of things too. Heard somewhere that Elektron worked with TE when creating their sequencer.
Yes absolutely. There’s also a ‘cycle’ mode that’s great for melodic parts when finger drumming, you can chop up a melodic progression and put it on the layers then play through it just by hitting that one pad.
I was just about to join your patreon … even go for the £4 option.. then I saw your charging people VAT? Adding it onto the price WTF! Anyway what ever just letting you know l really appreciate your content but that’s why I didn’t. Just left me with a sour taste. Like most people I can’t claim back and I’m taxed enough.
I’m sorry you feel that way. It’s not me charging VAT, it’s the UK government, I don’t have the ability to remove it. I actually priced that tier at £4 so that with VAT it still came out under £5. I don’t get any of that VAT amount, it all goes to the government, I will also have to pay income tax on the £4, so I agree with you about being taxed enough. Edit: also, Patreon take a cut, as do the payment transfer people, so of that £4 I would get about £2 in the end. Just putting it in context…
@@MaxipokMusic I really very much appreciate your reply… often people don’t give feedback or just ignore you - I wanted you to see user input for real - not meant to sound hostile- I probably could have put it much better. I really believe in what your doing and had no idea how it works and so I’m really impressed you took the time. Thank you so much I hope I haven’t put you off. It was a genuine reaction and you’ve been just as genuine

Excellent, have fun exploring the Force!
Great tip! Rolling back through old content to inspire. Hope you’re well mate 👍🏼
I’m good thanks Matt, hope you are enjoying the start of silly season! 🙂
Your videos are so good! Just the right level of detail and very clear.
Thanks Christopher! I aim for ‘useful’ and ‘not annoying’, hopefully I hit those targets sometimes 😀
This is really nice, thank you! btw.....your Force tutorials are awesome.
Thank you! I’m really glad you are finding them useful. I have a few more on the way, so watch this space 🙂
@@MaxipokMusic you're a totally underrated teacher :)
@@Rxke That’s very kind, thank you! It’s nice to know people are enjoying the videos 🙂🎧

Hey! Welcome to the channel, I’m glad you found me 🙂 Joe’s deep dive videos are great, I always learn stuff from him 👍
@@MaxipokMusic if you want to see how I use the Force, check my channel. Last video is an ambient dub concert. I love this thing!
Really cool. Also didn't know about holding tempo to quickly change tempo, that's going to get lot of use too!
Excellent, glad you found it useful! 😀

This is solid information. Thank you!

The mighty crossfader!

Great vid, thank you!
No problem, glad it was useful! 🙂
thank you max!
awesome! cant wait to try this out!
Awesome! Thanks for watching and I hope you have fun trying it out 🙂
Nice. Thanks!
Magnifique merci beaucoup. Maravilhoso muito obrigado..
Great vid thanks for sharing

Nice One! Thanks! 👏
Thanks for watching! 🙂
Nice!
Great idea thanks

anyone knows: if one had to decide when use the "Octatrack" OR in which cases use the "Akai Force" instead, then which one?
Nice trick. Could also be useful for randomized melodic phrases.
