  • I played with my first ever DSLR to see if I could produce something decent looking... then I talk about it. You can get decent looking imagery on cheap, old gear.

    Great video. I'm a very amateur videographer buying my first DSLR. I'm going with the T2i. I will learn on this camera and if/when I improve and figure out what I'm doing I'll invest in something better. Thanks this is what I needed to hear.

      The Rebel line is a great camera to learn all the fundamentals of shooting on - even if you could get your hand on a T3i or T4i - or any lower-price DSLR.

    Just paid the equivalent to 86 US dollars (450 Brazilian Reais) in a fully working Canon T2i w/out charger and lens cap (bought them separately for about 26 USD) Loving the camera! I also have a newer semi-professional Nikon P600, but the T2i beats it by far!

    Got a t2i with the kit lens for $200 in the mail today. I'm a total noob but the footage I've seen that it's capable of is plenty good for my intentions. Stoked to practice with it. Just gotta wait for the battery charger to arrive, lol. (should be here tomorrow)

    • @MicrobinFilms
      @MicrobinFilms  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure I can help with that at this point - I haven't dug this camera out in a long time. The best thing to do is just experiment - run camera tests with different lighting setups and then take a look at the footage afterwards - find what works and what doesn't. It's gonna come down to the specific lighting you set up.

I was also looking into the new Hero 7 GoPro. I have NO IDEA which would be better lol im extremely new to cameras/videos outside of my iPhone. I was wondering if you could help me out? Thank a million and I’ll make sure to subscribe to keep learning more

    • @MicrobinFilms
      @MicrobinFilms  5 років тому +1

      So those are two pretty different cameras that usually have really different purposes. So it all depends on how you want to use the camera.
      The GoPro is an action cam - it's usually wide angle and used to squeeze into tiny places. I primarily use GoPros for action / perspective shots or when I need to fit a wide angle into a tight place (ex. I mounted it to the window of a racecar the other day to get a shot of the driver). The T2i is a DSLR with interchangeable lenses - which will award you more flexibility if you know more about the camera. However I've also set up GoPros to pick up wide shots of events and such because I can mount it on a ceiling for example.
      The GoPro would allow you a little more get-up-and-go to it - less of a learning curve, but a DSLR like the T2i can be a great camera if used properly and if you educate yourself on how it's used. Would definitely offer you a little more versatility.
      Hope that helps!

    • @tylerclayville9237
      @tylerclayville9237 5 років тому

      So realistically the t2i might be my best bet? I plan on just setting either one up on a tripod and recording my workouts for Instagram footage and as well UA-cam. Sorry for being a pain I just really lack the knowledge and I really like how you break the information down.

    • @MicrobinFilms
      @MicrobinFilms  5 років тому

      @@tylerclayville9237 No worries - you learn by asking.
      It really depends on your budget and what you're comfortable with. You'll be able to get shallow depth of field, different focal lengths if you have a couple different lenses, and overall a wider variety of footage with a T2i or comparable DSLR - but then you'll have to double check things like focus (the T2i doesn't have continuous video autofocus) and exposure - where GoPros can kinda be automated.
      Basically how cinematic are you hoping for this stuff to look? Either way you might wanna spend a couple days with the camera - regardless of which one you get - learning the ins and outs.
      Also stay tuned and subscribe if you're into creative media, we're launching something pretty hefty content pretty soon we've been working on all summer :)

    Is it good for vlogging?

    • @MicrobinFilms
      @MicrobinFilms  4 роки тому +1

      Admittedly probably not. It's older so it doesn't have Dual Pixel Autofocus or even continuous autofocus in video mode like new Canon cameras have. And no flip out screen so you can't see the frame.

    • @regend762
      @regend762 4 роки тому

      Yes and No. If you have someone behind the camera helping you Yes because they can focus follow for you. Otherwise you need an external monitor to see yourself but even then focus in video mode is an issue. I just use my laptop to see myself because there is no selfie screen. t3i has a flip out screen however. But if you are just starting out, have no camera, you may as well get something newer in your budget because new cameras have vlogging friendly features. There are plenty of good point and shoots that are priced in the used t2i range for vlogging or you can opt for a Canon M50 in the mirrorless scene.

    Not hating, but your Sony A7 footage looks way worse than cheap Canon😢 and the whole video has microstuttering😮 ( maybe it's 24fps and my tv is 60 fps, but I don't see that kind of stuff frequently on UA-cam)
