Love the collection. Before my dad passed away he moved to Arkansas from florida in the 70s, and took his 1970 Chevy T-top Corvette up with him. He parked it in the garage here and its been sitting for 40 years but its in almost running condition. I can't wait to get it running soon, and fix whats gotta be fixed on it. Its almost perfect

Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, alright. We got 411 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 375 horsepower. We're talkin' some f***in' muscle.
That is one tough chevelle back in the day. I definitely appreciate it as is. I was born just before it was parked and I never had the opportunity as a youngster to live the muscle car era. But i have heard the stories from my dad who did live it.. i wish i could have lived it with you folks...

I feel like I have been to GM muscle car school after watching this video, very informative. My dad had a 1969 SS 396 Chevelle when I was a kid. I would give anything to have it back, the memories.
The build sheet in my 70ss was in the driver side door, it was built in the Lakewood plant in Atlanta Georgia.. and it was in excellent condition, it immediately got sealed in plastic to preserve it.
I bought a 1970 chevelle in 1985 for 250$ not running. Got it running sold it for 500$. Already had 1969 and 1970 dodge dart GT's so to many. They were so cheap to buy those back then.
I’m extremely salty that inflation & popularity boosted the price of these great vehicles. Half of the people who can afford them don’t even drive them how they should be.
I loved those good old days!!! Weed rack up somebody's car from our gang on a drunk&high Friday night, then grab the news paper on Saturday and pick up another muscle beast for Sat night cruising for a few hundred bucks. Man those were the days my friends we thought they'd never end! As the old song goes. I paid $50 for a 70 Dart GT,same for a 72 Barracuda,$250 for a 73 Montego GT with a 351 Cleveland, and the list goes on. My buddy scored a 67 Hemi Charger for $1200 in 85 missing the Hemi but hey, they're replaceable. Ahh,has anybody seen where I left my time machine laying around??? Lol!!! Boy I sorely miss those days!!!!
I bought A 68 Chevelle in 1992 and had it painted the same year. in 93 I put A 454 and A 12 bolt posi and redid the interior. I was 22years old at the time. I still have the car and the paint look fantastic.
I bought a '72 Sheriff's cruiser (can't remember the body style). It had the 454 with chrome valve covers, and I plowed pavement with it for 6 months, traded it for a '72 "cuda 440 with no reverse. I forget what I traded that one for.
My uncle had a 70 chevelle ss I believe sold it for little or nothing I use to love riding to school in that car getting dropped off in a chevelle was pretty cool !!great childhood memories!
Wow how time has changed our perspective. I found a wrecked 70 LS6 in 1977. It had the engine, but the 4 spd and 12 bolt had been removed. I bought it, installed a 4.10 12 bolt, and a THM 400. Put a hotter cam, a Offy dual quad intake, 2 650 cfm AFBs and slicks. First time out it ran a 12.01, and I tuned it to 11.83. Now don't shoot me, after all it was 1979, after welding the cracked frame repeatedly, I parted it out and installed the running gear in a (don't shoot me again) 69 Z28 RS. That car ended up running 10.80s
@@timothym5678 exactly right! My dad made Kelly Tires back in the 1970's and he got a discount so he put them on The Judge on a set of Turbo Wheels! Talk about tough looking!
Thank you for giving us a history lesson, and no matter what a person says, Get one and restore it the way you want. Or be a bench ride/passenger ride and criticize. I have a 72 LQ4 T56 magnum, that's getting twin turbos and a ZL1/1LE the best of both old and new. Cheers !
Struck GOLD is an understatement, this car-"IF" the numbers are all there and correct as you are saying, will be worth a fortune. There are way too many clones out there and I happen to know about some of them and who has them.I will never reveal that information for my own reasons. The thing is: People will go to great lengths to make money. Great video, well done and best wishes with the build bro.
@@DCsGladiator -This car is probably near the $100,000.00 range-if it isn't a cloned 71'. I have an ex-friend that cloned one and then lied to me afterwards-apparently he was trying to use my memory loss against me. He knows I have P.T.S.D. and T.B.I and I personally think it's cruel to treat a veteran this way. I found out he was laughing at me behind my back to my cousin-that I am close to. I do wish the owner of this car all the best and I hope he has a true numbers matching LS6.
Oh my goodness Sir. I have dreams of finding a "bubble butt" muscle car like this! When I was younger I owned a 72' Buick Skylark 2dr Coupe. Had to let it go because I became a single mom with two boy's. I'm 52 now and wish I could have it back every day!! Congrats to you. It's a keeper. 😍
Nice car, what a find...I had bought an LS-6 crate motor almost 30 years ago,and found the M-22 rock crusher trans at my friends junk yard, that I paid $100. for and the insides were excellent,I also pick up a 12 bolt and there are 2 different rears, one being made of nodular iron and the other cast.I plan on sticking them all into my '69 elcamino I've been making sweet. The only difference in your LS-6 and mine is the compression ratio, mine is 10.2:1 and I believe yours is 11.1. I bought this motor from Texas, for $2600. and have had offers of 10K.It's amazing what people will pay.Man I'd love to see your chevelle restored. It should be the cats meow...
Love the content of the channel...Your knowledge of the Muscle Car Era,no matter what make,or model,is PHENOMENAL!!!!! Your channel is so informative to those of us that grew up in the 60's,to mid 70's Muscle Car Era. I look forward to each and every "Barn Find" that you happen to come across. Keep up the great work,as you and your channel grow!!!! You both truly are a gift from the "Muscle Car Era"!!! Thank You again for your dedication to car enthusiasts everywhere!!!!
Kent Shifflet thanks a lot for following me sir. I didn’t grow up back then my parents did and their generation influenced me. I really appreciate your support and kind words.
Outstanding! Awesome content across every video of yours I've seen. Working on a 67 Chevelle SS396 barn find purchase myself...widowed, reluctant to sell owner.
I inherited a 69 Nova SS 396 that my Grandmother bought brand new for my dad when he was in HS, I wish it cranked like this lol. 2 years later I have it running now, still have to replace some floor boards, paint & new bumpers. I'll be out next year for sure.

This would be my dream car! My make a wish! I had a ‘71 back in ’83 that was pretty sweet. Engine had a larger Cam, 4 barrel & headers. She was fun! Now I’m suffering from cirrhosis and just remembering the good times!! What I’d give to have another one but with my limited income (disability) looks kinda slim! Watching this made my heart pump!! Thanks for showing! Please restore that beauty!!! But leave the vinyl roof and go hard top. Just my opinion... and keep that color & black stripes. It would even look better with the SS factory mags also painted the same color as the car! Sorry, I was dreaming again!! 🤣 Hope to see more on this car! 🚙💨 ✌️😎
I will never forget the first '70 Chevelle SS. I can't say for sure it was a 454 or not.(I was 8 years old) The owner was in the military and was moving to a new base. He was pulling a small y'all haul trailer and had Jack knifed it turning around on a side street. Unfortunately, he got it to lurch forward and right into the path of my Mother's 1963 Fairlane that was going probably 40ish. That was April of 1970. Mom's tank was fixed but the SS was totaled. I saw it in a local junkyard a few months later when Dad and I were getting a new rearview mirror for his '64 Falcon wagon.
Just add peanut butter because im all jelly over here.70' LS6 has always been my dream car and its awesome to hear it firing up after sleeping for so long.
A guy that lives around the corner from me has a 72 Chevelle with a 454, I used to work weekends with him but I never seen the car in person but I've seen pictures of it but I think he said its not a SS so the 454 wouldnt have come with the car and it needs body work but all Chevelles are still pretty cool.
Yes you can. 1969 GTO Ram Air IV. Before the 454 LS6's time and still faster. So is the 65 Cobra 427. Those 427s get up to 485 horsepower and is much lighter of a car.
Having grown up with these cases in the 70's and early 80's make me sad and happy. Someone found it and it will be once again have a second life, but I'm to the part of my life where I'll never be able to afford something like this again, well done guys
Larry rumfelt. I dibn't find one that rare but i did buy 2 real SS 67 chevelles about 18 yrs. Ago.. Not restored yet but i hope to get to work on them soon. VERY SOLID cars one is a 4 speed an a auto pb/ps/ air/. BOTH 138 CARS
First time watcher , and I def thought this was Mathew mc” .... mater fact I still think this was Mathew narrating this video , if not you could do a voice over for him no doubt and probably make good money doing it , Any how that’s a beautiful peace of American history !!! What a find ... I grew up south jersey peach and apple orchard. And my grand parents had an old hours farm . My mother and uncle turned it into a hot rod shop and I’ve seen one of these ripped apart and completely/ not top dollar but bran new 454 JEGS built 4 speed manual 4.10 rear 750 holly double pump carb , chrome creg/ race wheels midnight black and silver timings she was the first muscle car I ever fell in love with . I was 13 when it all came together and pulled out of that shop it had bin in for 3- 1/2 years being reconstructed. There’s nothing like the pictures on your wall and the single pain glass of an old farm house just shaken apart cracking that carb and blowing carb/mo, out of 2-3/4 quarter flow master . But for me as of right now I’ve bin fortunate to come by something only maybe Germans would drool over , “ I AM OF THE GERMAN AMERICAN “ I have a 2001 s500 -20 years old but 20,254 miles and a spare motor , it is V8 /16 plug , 24 valve 5.0 liter and am going outside the box and want to pull the litter and drive train and want to power house a 60’s /70’s American muscle car , motor is aluminum block /aluminum heads / magnesium intake it makes 306 stock hp, 339 ft pounds of torch . I kno s class mercedes , but is in the muscle car category, any how I’m blabbing on cool channel thanks for the content , it took me back to the day I fell in love with cars and hope you find more and save them . God bless I’ll be looking for your finds thanks
This car is a fine example of American craftsmanship, whether you're old school or new gearhead. You guys crack me up, arguing about small points of personal interest when we all know you're ALL right. Big picture here is more than 3 generations of full blood gearhead having a discussion about a beautiful old car! I like them all... My first car was a 66 Chevelle SS 396. Does anyone know if they built a 66 with the HO 396/M22/410 or 411 combo? That's what mine had and sat on 15" Craigars. It was, hands down, the best car I've ever had and also the biggest pain in the ass lol I miss it terribly...
Man you really know your stuff i hope too become as knowledgeable about my choice of car as you are, i know a lot about the engines and different years just you really show what else i need to know and its crazy looking at all these old engines and how they work its dope cause for example the fuel lines on a 1.6l miata 89-93(with HLAs) have a both a return and sender fuel line and upwards passes the 1.8l miatas 94-97 but when the NB platform was released it was only given one fuel line and has solid lifters, its just so interesting learning about different cars and how similar they all are but arent ;) again thank you!
I've owned several Chevelles over the years. My first was a 66 SS 396, 2nd was a 72 Malibu and last was a 70 Malibu. The 66 was a true SS that I totaled, at age 17, over a girl. I was lucky to survive the crash and meet my (now) wife of 30 years a year later. The others were plain Jane cars that I built into small block powered street racers. I knew that wifey didn't like me street racing but she knows that those cars, along with my factory job, paid our rent and helped put her through nursing school so, she kinda looked the other way. She's also a car lover. The 70 Chevelle has always been my favorite though and this is what I liked about the video- years ago (1989) when I bought the 70 Malibu, just for poop n laughter, I researched the cowl tag with the little information that was available back then. Don't ask me how I remember this but my 70, Tuxedo Black, Saddle bench seat Malibu was also a December, Atlanta built car. I couldn't help picturing the LS 6 in the video and mine nose to tail on the assembly line, mine jealous because it was only getting a 307. After I bought it, I gave it a full house 408 small block as a street racer, so, the jealousy was fixed. I left the 307 emlems on the fenders though. My fun toy now is an original 74 Z-28 that I bought as a roller. It now has a 427 small block, Richmond 4+1, and all the other goodies that allow it to carry me to low 9s on the strip. There's no nitrous and "stock type" suspension and it's still truly street legal. Yes, I have learned my lesson about street racing but the wife and I still take it out and raise a little hell on Sunday afternoon ice cream runs now and then lol! Also, the 70 Malibu that I used to own still survives and it's back in my shop now. Wifey found and bought it as a 30th anniversary present for me...gotta love her. It needs lots of work and the 408 is long gone. We'll get it back on the road better than ever within the next few years but it won't be a racer again...unless some punk in a fart can exhausted Honda wants a taste of Chevy orange between traffic lights and those 307 emblems will be there again!
Hey Patrick, don't know why fresh tail pipes but start-up was sweet!!, being an X- 70 Buick GS Stage 1 owner from the '70's (Chevy Guy) who would not a love that sound! We both know they don't build'm like that anymore! Thanks!
The owner must of been the gentleman sitting on the trailer I hope he was not taken advantage of and got what the car is worth in that condition looked like a nice man.
I had a 1972 SS Chevy El Camino that I purchased from a friend back in the 80’s that he had pulled the factory 454 from and put an LS6 454 in its place. It was one bad ride and when I street raced it I put several full sand bags in the rear just inside the tailgate. I sold it to a fellow who said he would be putting the LS6 in a 1968 Chevy Camaro SS that the original engine had been blown up. I never saw the Camaro or the El Camino again that I was aware of but it was a change I would never had made.He called me a liar about the engine being a real LS6 until I read the numbers off of it to him while he looked at the book that proved it. It was a far more powerful engine than the original engine that was put in the vehicle from the factory in 1972 by GM. I wish I had kept that ride but it is water under the bridge that is never coming back this way.
There were a lot of hot cars when I was in high school. Small block first gen camaros , Mopars, Mustangs, you name it. The baddest car was a red and black LS6 Chevelle. Thanks for bringing back the memory...
Straight out of the 80's when high school kids we were driving all these old Muscle cars and were picking them up for cheap....now most of us look back and kick ourselves for not keeping them , but what a time it was .
The American muscle I had was - 71 Chevelle 2dr ($500), 66 Chevelle ragtop 4spd ($1000), 67 Firebird 400 ($50), 67 Impala fastback (free).. WTH was a I thinking getting rid of any of these.. 😥🥵
In 1983 I found a 70 SS 396 in a barn of one of my friends. His dad was renting the space out to someone else so I got his phone number and made him an offer of $2500. Bought it the next week. The 402 had a bent #8 rod which was typical. So a friend and me rebuilt it and it ran good for about 2 years. Bent another rod and had a lifter break in half and got sucked up in the oil pump. So got tired of that block and all the trouble with it. So my buddy found a Stingray 427 435 HP block in a junkyard for $400. My friend and I did this one right. Took it down to the race shop and had it bored and balanced. Then spent 4 months rebuilding it. It would pull the front wheels off the ground with 4:56 gears. Kept it another 4 years and sold it for $8K after spending about $10K on it. But it was the meanest fastest car in town. Fathom Blue with pearl white stripes. What I would do now to find it but it probably got wrapped around a tree or blown up...lol
Unbelievable find, love the day 2 stuff, all gonna go in the garbage obviously, but back then, everyone did that, tires and wheels first thing, lucky it doesn't have flared quarters, but the Hurst shifter also a big thing, AM radio shocking, by mid 70s audiovox made the in dash adjustable shaft AM/FM 8 track, throw a set of Jensen 6X9s in the rear deck, and you were rolling
I wouldn't be putting those Cragars, shifter or those tires in the garbage man.. I think there are a lot of collectors that want to preserve the day 2 look now
im 21, i really wish i grew up in the times when these were new, times obviously were alot simpler back then, i at least in my lifetime pray i get to own a 60s or 70s muscle car
@@sarah_____conor back in '70 my dad picked me up from school in a 69 big block camaro that he was test driving. Back in those days, you could take the car home overnight. Yea it was 1970 and my dad was looking at the picked over 69 stuff from the back lot. He was always a bargain hunter. I was really disappointed when he decided on a green 69 camaro rs that was cat shit green 350 automatic. It was still cooler than my mothers 64 rambler american
You like your Mopars? you have good taste in car's I do too I've owned my Dodge Charger for 22 year's now and I live in New Zealand where these car's are not common however, American Car's are popular here I do hope you get your Mopar don't give up on your dream and it will happen all the best Mike New Zealand. PS, try and get a Big Block Mopar if you can (440) mines a 440 runs pretty good :-)
It's like I'm the only person in my family who drives a GM car which has the original powertrain in it,my 2002 model Holden VY SS Commodore (Australian built) still runs the original 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine in it & T56 Tremec 6 speed manual transmission,it has done 343,993 kilometres but I did replace the hydraulic lifters & timing chain in the engine as well as all of the gaskets & seals, the piston rings & engine bearings are all original, the T56 Tremec transmission has never been overhauled. My dad however, has a 2000 model Holden VX Commodore Acclaim which he replaced the engine in because he ran it on LPG,he bought a 3.8 litre Buick L36 V6 engine which was out of a 2002-2004 model Holden VY Commodore, the original engine just needed either reconditioned exchanged heads or the exhaust valve seats replaced in the cylinder heads,it would've cost the same amount of money to do it that way because he also fitted the 4L60E automatic transmission which was also fitted into a VY Commodore, there was nothing wrong with the original transmission but he was worried it would fail. While it has done 400,000 kilometres, the powertrain isn't original,it's almost like I don't get my own family hey !!!!
I remember reading of the LS6 Chevelles and El Caminos in Hot Rod back in the later 80s. If I recall, the article mentioned that one could order a fairly stripped down version of the car meaning you could have had a column gear selector, and non-limited slip 'granny' LS6 equipped Chevelle. Kind of like how Buick offered their Grand National engine in the rare non-GN guise Regals around the same time I read the Chevelle article. For comparison, I am pretty sure one could not order a 'stripped' down Hemi 'Cuda (other than one meant for drag racing vs. grandma special).

This car is gold and rare to find i would never ever sell it to no one if i owned it very valuable to a collector. All original 100 % is priceless.
Needs a ton of TLC but sure can be gorgeous when properly restored and tuned. Your shop is also super clean and nice looking. Thanks for the upload!
Alright Beetlejuice
I bought A 68 Chevelle in 1992 and had it painted the same year. in 93 I put A 454 and A 12 bolt posi and redid the interior. I was 22years old at the time. I still have the car and the paint look fantastic.
I bought a '72 Sheriff's cruiser (can't remember the body style). It had the 454 with chrome valve covers, and I plowed pavement with it for 6 months, traded it for a '72 "cuda 440 with no reverse. I forget what I traded that one for.
I really like when you say what the car ran at the track! A very important to me part of the history of the car.
That is sick!! Pat you're
Lucky man getting to help us look over these jems you find fricken awesome !!!
Awesome car it looks to be in the proper hands to take good care of it. Thank you Patrick for another great video.
I would really love to see a build video of this car! One of my favorite muscle cars....
I could listen to this guy all day.
Alright alright alright
Those are Kelly Super Charger tires on the back! My dad's 70 GTO JUDGE had a set of those and it looked so tough! Beautiful tires!
@Andrew Smith I disagree. Having some nice fat and meaty tires in the rear give it a great stance and looks mean.
@@timothym5678 exactly right! My dad made Kelly Tires back in the 1970's and he got a discount so he put them on The Judge on a set of Turbo Wheels! Talk about tough looking!
Andrew Smith YOU ARE WRONG !
@iTheGeek dude! You gotta stop! Caint breathe! ROFLMMFAO!
Andrew Smith you sound like the kind of asshole that would put stretched stance tyres on a muscle car, no brains
How much do you think it's worth?
Really a nice find. If it wasn't to become museum display, I would clean it up, replace needed parts and make her a daily driver.
Awesome find Patrick and a very thorough video..you have much knowledge on these cars Bud.👍
I love these home videos. No sponsors, telling you what to fkn say.👍🏻👊🏻

Did she want her son to get in trouble lol?

Thats beautiful. I was lucky enough for my dad to have one.
Hope to see more on this car! 🚙💨 ✌️😎
Repair everything back to stock, massage out the dents and weld up the rust but keep it mostly a survivor-driver.
I agree
Cut the fenders and drop 26s
Lol jkjk
Trendyrapslut no dude some off-road wheels and a roll cage 😂 jk
Michael Anthony I agree!!!
I will never forget the first '70 Chevelle SS. I can't say for sure it was a 454 or not.(I was 8 years old)
The owner was in the military and was moving to a new base.
I'm 38....
THIS!
THIS is THE CAR that I've always dreamed about owning...ever since I found out about it.

We recently found a 70 chevelle SS 396 with a factory 4-speed, all numbers matching with documents! It’s a great surprise when they pop up!
Just as i thought you couldnt take it any further, you topped it, with the Blue bleeder caps - luuuve it - awesome
You can’t beat a classic Chevelle 454 SS, Legendary 👍
cultspaghetti Trashmovie yep a firebird beats it
@@SubscribersWithNoVideos-in9jh Firebird bahaha now that's funny lmao
Yes you can. 1969 GTO Ram Air IV. Before the 454 LS6's time and still faster. So is the 65 Cobra 427. Those 427s get up to 485 horsepower and is much lighter of a car.
Toyota Prius beats it.
Wow! Such an amazing car!!
95000 original miles somebody drove that car man that is awesome drive that car to work everyday that would even make work better man
With 410s it's like the motor has 250000 miles jk. Great car for sure :)
Been parked 35 years and starts up better than my 1970 Chevelle that has been parked 35 minutes.
😂😂😂👍💪🙏✌💯
😂
Thanks!
That's why I'm a Chevy guy!
Patrick you are blessed to have traveled & hunt these special old Chevelles.
That chevelle is the best car in that whole shop! 1970 ls6! The king!
The only thing I can say is.
OH MY! . I think this is the best thing I have seen on UA-cam to date!
thats awesome,my favorite car is a 72 chevelle.

Excellent video! Glad you found Melba Toast after all these years, Matthew.
The owner must of been the gentleman sitting on the trailer I hope he was not taken advantage of and got what the car is worth in that condition looked like a nice man.
Wow I am so glad that I got hooked up with you, the the knowledge of you is just amazing. 👍😎Thanks
For as long as that has been sitting it's in good shape glad it's going to be fixed up
I had a 1972 SS Chevy El Camino that I purchased from a friend back in the 80’s that he had pulled the factory 454 from and put an LS6 454 in its place.
Nice LS6. I still own my 70 Z28 4-spd that I purchased in 1981 from the orig owner.
It's not about you.
@@BrianJackson-yw6ki He was just sharing. Not necessary to be a dick.
There were a lot of hot cars when I was in high school. Small block first gen camaros , Mopars, Mustangs, you name it. The baddest car was a red and black LS6 Chevelle. Thanks for bringing back the memory...
My dream car. It's in amazing condition for being neglected for so long.
Straight out of the 80's when high school kids we were driving all these old Muscle cars and were picking them up for cheap....now most of us look back and kick ourselves for not keeping them , but what a time it was .
I envy y'all. All i got were small displacement 4 cylinders and turbo cars. I didn't know what torque was until i got my chevy c2500
I think there are a lot of collectors that want to preserve the day 2 look now
Another great find Patrick!
im 21, i really wish i grew up in the times when these were new, times obviously were alot simpler back then, i at least in my lifetime pray i get to own a 60s or 70s muscle car
@@sarah_____conor back in '70 my dad picked me up from school in a 69 big block camaro that he was test driving. Back in those days, you could take the car home overnight.
Amazing car! Thanks for sharing
