Oh my gosh Juni!! I've had 4 Vintage Player Piano Rolls for a year and haven't done anything with them for the same reason you had. I'm sooo happy that I watched this video, because I now know that I can have a play with them without fear of them falling apart straight away. Thank you for sharing/doing this video, you have truly inspired me to use my Player Piano Rolls!!! Happy Valentine's Day ❤
Aww you're exactly the reason I filmed this video - yay!! I hope no-one is intimidated to use piano paper now that I know how great it is to work with. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and letting me know your story. Have fun using your piano rolls.
Thankyou so much for sharing Juni! I’ve watched Amity’s piano paper ideas over and over and will be doing the same with yours. I’ve had a lifelong dream to own a pianola/player piano but being a piano teacher I already have my fair share of instruments to find space for. My husband bought a box of piano paper rolls for me from a second hand shop last year. I could hardly bring myself to cut it up (primarily due to the lifelong wish) but finally got as far as creating some A4 pieces/little rolls with some of it. Love the idea of backing it with coffee dyed paper to make it more manageable. Definitely time to unbox the sewing machine I received for Mother’s Day last year. Thankyou as always for the inspiration. Sending warmest wishes 🎵
No worries at all. Yay, so glad you're unboxing that sewing machine - hehe. Hope you have so much fun using piano paper. Hope your dream comes true, lovely!
HI Juni, just had to comment to let you know they are called Pianola rolls because they didn’t play on a piano but a pianola which looked like a piano with extra bits. You put the paper into the mechanism at the front of the pianola, the ring on the end of the papers was what you hooked it into the machine with so it could roll up as it went. The music played with the pressing of the pedals, which was hard work, the holes in the paper is what made the music. The words are there so as they scrolled up we could all singalong, fun days. Sorta like the first karaoke machine. Gosh that makes me feel very old. great ideas. TFS. Debra
A piano with extra bits - love that! Thanks heaps for sharing how it works. I've never seen one before or even knew they existed until junk journals. Thank you pianolas for giving junk journalers the rolls - hehe.
Great ideas. Recently, I found a player piano and 28 rolls of music at a thrift store. I tried to get them to let my buy just the paper rolls, but they wouldn't separate the music from the piano. I felt so sad, but I'm sure the piano would never sell without the paper included. I have a roll though and have used only a little of it in collage. I love the journal covers and pockets you've done.
Hi Juni, I have two rolls of pianola paper which I have yet to use...like you I think I felt a little intimidated. Now you've given me so many ideas...I love the aged patina of the paper. xox
Great ideas, and giving me the confidence to cut into my own roll💖would love to hear your ideas on how to use the roll and the box in our journaling as well👍
I haven't tried as I like leaving them as is with their beautiful colour, but inking is always fun too. Some of the papers are glossy and some are matte. So cool!

I was fortunate to get heaps of these for very cheap. They are a great craft embellishment.
Oh yay, that's so great! Always on the lookout for these now
great ideas!I love piano paper. You can lightly mist it with water & iron it to flatten it out, then it wont keep rolling up.
Thank you so much

Thanks so much. Aww that's a shame they wouldn't sell them separately. Using the rolls for collage is a great idea!
I just bought a piano roll a few weeks ago, thanks for this great idea. Wasn’t sure how to use them
Ooh how fun. Have fun using it
Lots of wonderful ideas!

I will try these for sure. Thanks for sharing, I have been looking for some way to use a piano roll.
Yay, so excited!! Hope you have fun using it

I love player piano rolls, so much fun to play with, they were still being made up until 1998.
I can see why you love them now. I'm hooked!!!
So pretty!!
Thank you so much
Have you tried inking on these because they seem to have a glossy finish?
