Without realizing that the screwdriver is very useful in fighting hard bosses and the electric railcannon is a glorified piece of shit without coins, the screwdriver, meanwhile, doesn't even INTERACT with coins, meaning you can deal a shit-ton of damage AND get healed, plus even the piercer charged shot outdamages the electric railcannon, but otherwise all the weapons are good tbh, don't get why we need a tierlist for them, all the railcannons fill a niche really REALLY well, I honestly don't think any weapon in ULTRAKILL was designed poorly

      @@thatguystar817 I agree that tierlists are kind of redundant for Ultrakill since there's not necessarily a "Meta" like its a multiplayer game, it's just moreso that some weapons can do things better than others, but you can still tailor your arsenal to your own liking.
      I think the reason that Screwdriver is dogged on more because with it being a railcannon it can sometimes fall flat compared to other weapons. The railcannons are all superweapons with incredibly high cooldowns, so what their effects do as a weapon has to make up for that wait time. For the most part, I think the other railcannons make up for this.
      The electric railcannon has a lot of versatility in its usage, as you can instantly kill most enemies either with just the single shot or with coin adding, as well as it comboing for shocks as well for some crowd control. The malicious railcannon also has a lot of useful parts to it, as it can combine with cores for insane AoE killing capabilities in an instant as well as its other explosive interactions being very useful.
      In contrast, the usage that the screwdriver has ends up being kind of niche to these ones. The main appeal of this weapon initially was that it has a higher radius for you to heal off of, which while it can be useful at times, its usually negligible of a use compared to everything else. The other main use of it is screw punching, which while in itself is pretty good for dealing high burst damage to multiple boss enemies put together, it usually takes some more time to use compared to the other ones which have their usages come out much faster in comparison.
      I don't think the screwdriver is bad, it definitely has its uses as a weapon (hell, I've seen it used quite a bit in some brutal cybergrind playthroughs that go up to wave 100), but when you compare its values to the other railcannons it ends up feeling lower down due to its contrast of niche uses from the versatile uses of the other two. I think maybe if they added some more buffs to the screwdriver (maybe something like it being able to go off magnets to implant itself in an enemy easier to incentivize screw punching more), it would definitely be seen in a better light, but I think it's fine as a weapon.

      Because the slab marksman is two hitscans (three if you splitcoin), the damage multiplier is applied to each individual hitscan, which is more damage to your single target. Also the main reason people use the conductor nailgun for extra damage, the quicker charge of the conductor sawlauncher can be kind of a bad thing if you're trying to get a really good +CONDUCTOR setup, which can easily clear half of an entire cyber grind wave, sometimes even the entire wave. The overheat nailgun fits well into this niche too, but it takes charges and a standard sawblade launch to charge it (using three weapons for a single combo is too much for my little brain, and the conductor nailgun does it all for me).

    • @broccolite8297

      There's a trick you can do with the overheat nailgun. If you spend a heatsink and swap to the next weapon, no matter how much heatsink you dealt, firing with the attracter once again will replenish the first heatsink you spent. Then when you use the Overheat again, it'll automatically begin spilling the same heatsink you replenished. I pull it off a couple times in my NEURON ACTIVATOR video. You should see it!

    I really wish Hakita would either nerf projectile-boosting the shotgun or buff the core eject, as it is just completely outclassed by projectile-boosting in every scenario. I think core ejects are just such an interesting way of dealing damage, with nothing else in the game really matching the appeal of a gravity-affected bomb. Pistoling the core-eject is cool, but even that is outclassed by whiplash + rocket in a lot of cases.

      @broccolite8297  Місяць тому +12

      I'm glad you agree. A lot of people castrate me for having the opinions I do on the core eject shotgun. Honestly, I'd just increase the radius of the explosion and make it red. A 3.5 damage red explosion with a slightly bigger radius (somewhat close to the size of a cannonball's explosion after being shot) sounds like something I'd actually consider using. Who doesn't like bigger booms?

      @FutureThrone795 Місяць тому +5

      @@broccolite8297 Red explosions are already so common, I'd worry about having them be even more common (especially for the first explosion weapon the player ever encounters). I also fear that that change could remove a huge purpose of shooting the core with the pistol, which is really awesome tech. I personally would like a really high damage amount in a small area, because that's just something I think would be really interesting to interact with. A 6 damage explosion with it's current radius would keep it really nicely balanced I think.

    • @broccolite8297
      @broccolite8297  Місяць тому +3

      @@FutureThrone795 But then you have to think how much damage you're doing when the core is shot. Malicious suddenly becomes insane and core sniping deals up to 12 damage (assuming we're carrying over the current math: 3.5 -> 7 damage). Maybe don't make it red, but a bigger radius and maybe 5 damage like a cannonball could be good. Gives New Blood a reason to change the SRS in a new a dynamic way as well.

    • @FutureThrone795
      @FutureThrone795 Місяць тому

      @@broccolite8297 Well it's a big assumption that the current damage scaling of the game would transfer over proportionally to my suggestion, lol. Core nukes are already in a good place even with this suggested change, and core sniping could get a small buff of 8 total damage, red explosion, and a slightly larger explosion.
      I already think the SRS is pretty dynamic in a lot of ways, but how would you go about changing it? What does the cannonball *not* do that should be different?

    • @broccolite8297
      @broccolite8297  Місяць тому +1

      @@FutureThrone795 The SRS can just be grabbed and hit into enemies, and can potentially be shot to blow up. It's not really dynamic aside from that. At least when compared to other weapons. Sharpshooter can shoot projectiles for 7 damage, blast away other projectiles, bounce down linear hallways for optimal damage against multiple targets, be comboed with coins to create an ultraricoshot chain. All with just one click of the secondary.
      I'd like to see the SRS have some synergy with a new weapon. Maybe it conducts electricity? It's able to last a long time in the arena. Could be worth it the same way freezeframe rockets are worth it. Maybe it can carry status effects like a tumbling snowball that gains burning, electric or explosive properties when launched through burning enemies/oil, conduction tricks/nails/sawblades, or a big explosion. Burning applies burning like normal, electricity always has a minimum of 2 aftershock damage and explosions are explosions. It would make using the cannonball twice feel a lot more potent as you stack each unique effect and dish it out two separate times.

    Also ALSO I wish there was some kind of overpowered combo with the screwdriver railcannon. The electric and the malicious each have their own really good synergies and niches which they fit into, but the screwdriver railcannon is only good if you need blood or can repeatedly +CORKSCREW BLOW two or more tanky enemies (BTW this is a really fun way to fight the cerberi in 0-5 and the insurrectionists in 6-1). These two situations very rarely get used in the cybergrind, though perhaps the latter has some untapped potential on future enemies that are both tanky and slow.
    I'd like to see an interaction between the knuckleblaster and a screwed enemy, maybe giving a ton of knockback to heavy enemies that couldn't be traditionally given knockback (for example, instantly killing a guttertank by screwdriving it and hitting it off the stage).

Electric with coins, Malicious with cores, and the Screwdriver with the Feedbacker. All cool things, but the previous railcannons have secondary interactions as well. Electric with nails, Malicious with coins, and the Screwdriver with... what else? Havent finished but the Core Eject Shotgun can get free nukes for your jackhammer with the 1st Variation bind, since it has no cooldown on the alt fire
    That alongside core snipes and nukes from a safe distance is very valuable
    And i feel shotgun swapping and pro boosts are very valuable tools you may be underestimating a bit
    I just think overall both the shotguns and jackhammers are equally as good and viable
    Also, i think you're underestimating the Screwdriver, it does 15 damage with the parry and it can theoretically go up to the end of the wave, i'd argue its better than just the raw Mal rail which is completely reliant on nukes for being truly worth the charge since its not even a red, and does less damage than the overpump. Since the alt core came out i genuinely dont see the point in using it outside of nukes

    • @broccolite8297
      @broccolite8297  20 днів тому +1

      Using the core eject shotgun for jackhammer hits just limits the jackhammer's potential. Check out my video where I demonstrate extremely efficient ways of dealing insane damage with the core eject jackhammer.
      Pro-boosting can hardly match consistent patterns of jackhammer swapping, which can deal a consistent 9.5 damage with pump charge jack, 13 damage with a core eject jack, and ~10.5 to each their own SINGLE enemy (not to mention your fist is available, so slap on melee parries and knuckleblast punches for extra damage). Each jackhammer is capable of dealing group damage, and unlike pro-boosting, allows you to heal in the heat of hit-and-run melee combat like bread on butter. Jackhammers, in their nature, play into all of your strengths: Moving fast -> taking less damage, as well as freeing up your feedbacker slot to allow for more consistent stamina and health refills via parries.
      I'm willing to accept that I may be underestimating the screwdriver, but my only condition for it staying where it is will be the fact that it gets the best value while you are at low health. In practice, you should be more focused on higher damage combos like railcoins, slarpcoins, slabcoins, jackhammer swapping, conduction chains, rocket riding, etc. All of these strategies either heal you and/or allow you to avoid significant damage. Meaning, in my opinion, the screwdriver is too specialized.

    • @Net_15
      @Net_15 19 днів тому

      @@broccolite8297 I can understand that but i think its similar to coins in the way the core is where you get most of the value from the weapon. And i think that if you really do practice and get good at quickly swapping the CE shotgun with the 1st variant bind to hammer them and nuke (if you want a demo of that, its on DrFeelGood's advanced coin mechanics 2 video's outro) you could get potential huge pay off (also i did watch your vid its great lol. Been practicing the yellow hit + core. And i can see how the CE jackhammer might be a better option in a lot of scenarios, but i see it more as a sidegrade while both are very viable)
      Pro boosts are by far not the strongest option you have for explosive damage, but the sheer quick burst you get from it is very valuable to throw out while switching between your weapons. Its also very reliable against Guttermen since they can snipe your cores and rockets, and since they're very prominent on the cg, having a good way to surely hit them from a far as you approach them is appreciated.
      The jackhammer does do more dmg but you do have to commit way more to it compared to doing a quick round of p boosts + rockets at tankier enemies. And shooting a chainsaw then switching to your pump shotgun allows you to p boost and parry the chainsaw back due to the faster reload of the pump (alternatively you can switch between the shotguns), and thats some of the highest dps you can get. While it does tax your arm exhaustion, its a great alternative to railcoining at the ledge if your rail is on cooldown. And while pboosts cant heal you, shotgun swapping can, and even just 2 shots with the m1 can heal you by a lot when you need health, i believe more than the jackhammer's hits? But im unsure of that.
      I do agree the jackhammer's hit and running is amazing and it plays into movement very very well, but i dont believe the shotgun cant match its strenghts to at least a pretty good extent
      While the screwdriver is undeniably somewhat niche due to the healing focus, i think that theres still a lot of value on using it offensively. You can still do alot of those things while a screwdriver is on the field, you can put it on a maurice, a cerb, swordsmachine, even a mindflayer since it prevents them from teleporting, kill some other threats quickly, then go back to punch it into another target, and you can keep that cycle until your railcannon is already recharged. All that while you also get a lot of safety and letting you take more risks, due to the blood if you play around where your target is. Maybe its not as "optimal" as other options but its undeniable very fun and stylish.

      @@Net_15 I believe the shotgun is severely overshadowed by the nailguns and sawblades. Conduction is the supreme crowd controller at the end of the day, and it completely trivializes the need for explosions through p-boosting. 3.5 damage is only good in a context where you're hitting more than one enemy, preferably upwards of 3 or 4. All it takes is one volley of the overheat nailgun, a couple magnets and a jumpstart/electric railcannon to completely obliterate all of the fodder on a stage. Suddenly, you're left with the insurrectionists, mindflayers, gutterman, guttertanks, cerberi, swordsmachines, ferrymen, (assuming some of them don't already die to the initial conduction combo) and guess which weapon deals with those targets better than any other? In my mind, the jackhammer fills its role so much better than a shotgun.
      Slab pistols are two hitscan shots and each one heals you for 30, adding up to 60, which is a really efficient heal in my eyes.
      Jackhammers heal for 35 at most ranges, and the chainsaw heals to fill instantly regardless of which one you're using.
      Sacrificing a shotgun's strongest feat for the sake of healing is extremely underwhelming when you can just use a jackhammer for its intended purpose and reap all of the benefits that a shotgun is expected to alternate between on a whim.
      I'm a strong believer that rockets fill the explosive niche better than a shotgun. Despite the fact that it fires slower and can combo with pro-boosting, it deals 7 damage to airborne targets which is a really easy thing to pull off when you're upwards of wave 35 in the cyber grind.
      Also, if you just kill all the guttermen on the stage first, each of their explosive deaths deals 7 damage anyway. The jackhammer is the most effective at meeting the correct damage threshold of 25 health in two hits, which achieves exactly that sooner than any shotgun combo could dream.

    22:20 As far as the saw vs nail jumpstart goes, I think you always want at least one nailgun in your loadout so you can take advantage of conducting multikills. Most of the time I just want to blast a single target, partly because the conduction mechanics feel inconsistent, so I usually go with jumpstart saw and overheat nails just in case.
    Also, jumpstart saws do 0.6 and only hit once. Four per second while hooked, so you get 2.4 DPS, which is honestly pretty bad unless you add the big shock where you're now doing about 13 DPS for as long as you have the launcher out. But with base damage only (it does *1.2* DPS unhooked) it's not adding anywhere near as much damage as an overheat saw launcher would. So again that's kind of the more important loadout choice. If you're a big sawcon stan you absolutely want overheat saw and with overheat saw you probably want jumpstart nails so you can do conductions. For people who don't make much use of conduction chains at all, triple saws.

      @broccolite8297  Місяць тому +1

      I use Attracter Sawblade, Overheat Nailgun, Jumpstart Sawblade. Silver sawblades are incredibly strong even without conduction, so I prefer to use them as sole damage instead of swapping from the jumpstart to the attracter to perform my conductions. More damage is nice with the nailgun, but you never really wanna spray and pray in this game especially if you have nail traps set up. The overheat just does a better job of spreading nails really quickly in my opinion.

    As someone who is currently within the top 6-700 in brutal CG (about 400 hours sunk into this fricken game), I have LONG agonized over the standard versus alt marksman. Personally, I loved the alt marksman even before its recent buff, as a three-shot alt-pistol volley against anything is a pretty quick 7.5 damage. Plus a 5 damage ricoshot that you can (now) chain one after another (with successful splitcoins) is absolutely insane against nearly any single target enemy (especially enemies without weak points for the standard marksman).
    However, there is one seemingly minor but nonetheless important distinction that currently has me in the standard marksman-camp, and that is the alt variation takes a bit longer to switch to. Sure, if you're planning on splitcoining then the delay is no big deal, but if you really just want to get a quick 2-4 damage burst in between everything else you are juggling (this is UK, after all) then it's hard to beat the standard variant. Against ferrymen in particular this aspect of the standard marksman has been a lifesaver, and it's for that reason I tend to default to it. Plus I have the option of split-coining, which I otherwise wouldn't get since I use the alt versions of the other two revolvers.
    So yeah, ultimately it comes down to personal preference. I like the alt marksman a lot and definitely think it's underrated, but at the same time I really enjoy the nearly instant damage boost I get with the standard variant.

    for the most part, ill have to agree with most of the placings, especially with the screwdriver, as its best with actual bosses than the cybergrind where you have 20+ enemies coming after you, for the hammers i would have probably put them a teir above mostly because i use them almost as much as the alt revolvers (im a triple alt revolver and triple sawblade user as well), i tend to use whiplash the most, and i dont really parry as much nor use the knuckleblaster, but again, still useful and i need to learn utilizing them more, mostly because im using the Hammer most of the time, im not exactly sure why i dont use the nailguns as much, especially when i can just damage stack by using the heatsink, its probably because im addicted to making traps using sawblade attractor and overheat, and i underutilize the nailgun, for the whole blue Hammer, i often do turn it into a mini railcannon, usually at the beginning and end of the waves i use slam storage jump, throw coins below me (sometimes above and sometimes 3 around me and one above me,) i do this to quickly get away from enemies and dodge most of the projectiles, or to finish off an enemy that i dont see and rather not look around the arena for that enemy, the only thing i dont use often are rockets, but i keep that freeze frame just in case i almost fall off the stage and dont have enough hp to do a Overpump Hammer blast, overall, the rating you put it is right around the same as i would put it (though i usually go into the cybergrind with a limited arsenal, more particularly alt marksman and peircer, 3 Hammers, 3 Sawblades, red and blue railcannons, and freeze frame, sometimes the firestarter) and yes, burning everything in the arena is fun, i dont use the firestarter that much, its probably because i like to gain high style points
    (small edit: HOLY SHIT HOW MUCH DID I WRITE!?!?!)
    second edit: im just not really a fan of the default pistols much, this is mostly because i prefer outputing very high damage

    • @broccolite8297

      I would normally like to place the jackhammer higher, but its weaknesses are a little sneaky. When you're charging a jackhammer and setting up to use it, you have to realize that you haven't spent your time very efficiently while you've wasted the 1 or 2 seconds for 6 or 10 damage (plus whatever secondary). Regardless, its strengths are being able to kill certain enemies very efficiently so that's why it's remarkable. I just don't think it matches up with coins or sawblades.
      As for nailguns, I highly recommend you at least give the Overheat Nailgun or the Jumpstart Nailgun a try. I don't know if you've heard of conduction, but conduction allows you to detonate all nails on enemies to release chain lightning that deals crazy amounts of damage. All it takes to set them off is some source of electric damage. Either the Jumpstart or the Electric Railcannon!

    That thing is so good for a few specific enemies like cerberus, mind flayer and insurrectionist and
    you can still get 10 damage from the ball without any parrying by shooting it after it hits the target which causes an explosion
    the screwdriver carried me through some hard levels because of the healing

      For the SRS: You can do a maximum of 12 damage to an enemy with the SRS. Cerberi take double damage, Insurrectionist can be stunned. All in all, you're mainly using it on those two enemies for those specific reasons. Otherwise you have way more efficient ways of dealing damage. It's not that the SRS cannon is slow, it's that there are better options.
      Screwdriver is good only on targets with high health, and even still when you get better at the game you just railcoin enemies because it's more efficient.
      Sawed-On Shotgun is good for healing. Sawed-On Jackhammer is just better. You can detach and yoyo it regardless of which version you use. I put they each a little low because no one's going out of their way to use the saw for conduction, and because it serves as a sidepiece to the other saws which are just more reliable.
