I honeslty cracked the code for mini twists. I wash and deep condition my twists weekly in twists but divide my hair in 4 parts and then retwist a different quarter after each washday. This way my scalp is clear, i dont dread retwisting it all in one sitting and my hair is hydrated

But don’t one of the sections get washed over and over without being retwisted yet? So it would be one section that hasn’t been retwisted for almost month but has been washed 3 times if that make sense. I feel like for my hair the moment my twist touch water they have to be retwisted Immediately and wouldn’t survive multiple washes without being retwisted 😂

@@zooweellama personally 3 weeks doesnt matte my hair so it works. feel free to maybe just do half your hair instead of 4 parts at every wash day. i also redo the perimeter every 2 weeks anyways

This system makes so much sense!! I love mini twists, but whenever I leave it in for a month or more it starts to lock up. It’s really frustrating because I’m pretty sure it not good for my hair and it kinda defies the whole point of mini twists as a great protective style. Thank you, I will definitely try this!❤

I wear twists under my wig as a protective style and wash it in big twist too. It started out as an accident from being too busy and now I have long heathy hair.

When you do mini twists and braids as a protective hair style you still have to take care of it. Moisturize it few times per week, wash and deep condition the braids regularly. Keeping the braids stretched helps a lot, you can keep it stretched by using a blow dryer on cool or low heat, putting them in big braids at night, buns, bantu knots. I’ve been wearing twists and braids under my wigs and I’ve seen a big difference in the thickness of my hair, just make sure to take them down properly and detangle patiently.

I’m not an expert when it comes to hair. I currently have mini twists, it's helpful to put some conditioner, aloe vera juice(works for my hair) to soften the hair and won’t be as challenging taking them down.

Girl, when you have your hair in twists everybody is gonna start talking about it dreading up "Oh your getting locs?" But i easily have them in for two months. They keep my hair stretched and... Detangled! But everyone's hair is definitely different! So what works for one might not work for another.

Braids definitely don’t protect my hair either! It’s that added hair rubbing and tugging at our hair.
What I do now, bigger twists and just re twisting and re moisturising after like a week and a half to avoid excess knotting and drying. I’ll just do a bunch per day so it doesn’t stress me out 😅 I wear a headband wig and scarfs to the gym.
I still wash and condition my hair in the twists though.
Also, taking down the twists with product to lessen breakage too.

I’ve been doing crochet locs a couple styles in a row and letting my hair rest for like 2 months in between and my hair has really recovered nicely. Probably because there isn’t so much tension on my strands as often anymore. I learned how to do it myself so I wouldn’t have to spend so much money. I get my braids done once in a blue moon just because I don’t always have the time to spend 2 days on my hair 😅

When you don’t know about locs. It doesn’t take 2 months to loc even when you are actually trying to loc them. And even locs are not considered mature until a year or more. Now will there be tangles, yes but even before I was Loc’d I loved having twist in for the ease. Now take down was always a different story lol but love them and also yay for sharing your testimony. One thing God will do is change your life.

  • @hawtnsweet

If I may suggest - next time get at least 200-250 twists done using a very versatile grid (make sure the grid is poppin and can be styled any which way) and then you can leave it for 12 weeks, knowing that the worst that would happen is that they'd turn into microlocs. The best would be that you could still take them out after 12 weeks with a good conditioner. Trust me, 4c hair takes WAAAAYYY longer to loc than people think. Just ask people who started their locs with twists or braids. Some people still struggle to loc after 6 months. Plus I've seen people take down locs started with twists after 2 solid years.

I personally do not put and do not intend to use acid on my skin - I'm a natural moisturiser on my face kinda gal - coconut oil or shea butter all the way. I totally agree with you about water and our hair it loves it - it just takes a while to dress it up afterwards.

Uh ok...better help. I know people are going to come and say bad things about better help. I've had different types of therapies for 20 years. I was impressed with better help. However please do your research on what type of therapy you want and please utilise the groups on BetterHelp....Please do not be come co-dependent on you BetterHelp therapist. My therapist actually is going on vacation and I have crisis support and in person support in place on top of the betterhelp groups. Please also do not expect your therapist to be a miracle worker. Most cannot help you with every aspect of your conditions. I have complex PTSD, personality disorder and autistic traits. it is unrealistic to expect one therapist to fix all of that. Same for domestic abuse, dysfunctional family of orgin, rape and Sexual assault, bereavement, bullying, physical disability etc. You may need lots of different therapies with lots of different therapists. Some therapists are only qualified to deal with mild depression and anxiety....they should not be treating personality disorder. Also do not allow your therapist to isolate you from the rest of society and do not dump everything on your therapists. Therapists are human and can suffer burnout and there are some therapists who are straight up predators. This happens with online therapy and offline therapy. Stay alert and connected. Change therapists if you have to.

I enjoyed your hair journey, 22nd Century Natural Products line has the best detox system for our hair. After I tried it, my hair texture completely changed. Only a few naturals know about this line, its kind of a big secret of the pros...lol. no chemicals and made by hand. my hair has never been shinier along with growth. Yow need to check her out especially if you're having problems with your hair. Good luck on your journey!

How do you know she didn't moisturize it. She had a detangling spray.

@@nancykerrigan it looked very dry, but her texture could be hiding the fact that it’s moisturized.🤷‍♀️
