Make to check the clips on the back of the fan shroud for the transmission lines so there is no rattling etc noises.
Think I now have this same issue on my 05 trailblazer. I have evidently watched this video some time in the past since it shows I gave it a thumbs before. But I had forgot it. lol Anyway had to comment if not in past and tell you how great this video is. This is one of the best and detailed videos I have ever watched to demonstrate the method of doing a repair. Thank you for your time and effort of providing this invaluable and money saving demonstration. Watched on tv, but had pick up my iPad and connect to leave a comment. Thank you!!!
Thanks!!
Thank you so much . Yesterday I was trying for an hour to get the shroud off without loosening the fan. This helped so much. Make more content like this. Have a nice day😌
Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos. I’m sure you have helped countless people.
When the Fan Clutch went out on my 05' Trailblazer with the In-Line 6-Cyl., it coded the "Knock Sensor." Never did code the Fan Clutch or anything else for that matter? But soon after the Knock Sensor coded, I noticed the engine sounded differently when I started it one day. Had a different pitch to the engine sound. And after a brief diagnoses, I realized that it was the Fan Clutch causing the problem. A few days later the Power Steering Pump started to whine slightly, a totally different sound all together. Tried a few different things to see if I could get it to stop whining, but to no avail. And after talking to a guy that had one of these as well, I decided to go ahead and replace the Fan Clutch, Water Pump, Power Steering Pump, Upper Radiator Hose and the Thermostat assembly while I was in there. And although I'd purchased another belt, the belt looked pretty good. So I just put the old one back on, and put the new belt in the back in the storage area to save for another day. In the long run, it's going to be cheaper and less time consuming to do it this way, and just get it all taken care of in one foul swoop. If I were YOU, Nathan, I would have replaced the Water Pump also. Reason being, a lot of times when a Fan Clutch goes out it takes the Water Pump bearing out as well. It might not show up right away. But within the next 200-300 hundred miles it probably will. The good thing is if it does, you're already an expert at taking that Fan Shroud and Fan Clutch off, lol. So it'll be a piece of cake when you do have to replace the Water Pump. By the way, I've enjoyed watching someone else do all this work knowing full well what all you're going through to accomplish the task at hand. Been there, done all that ... and more ... before myself. PS: I also replaced the Idler Pulley Bearing Assembly while I was in there. :-)
it helped me a lot!! thank you and very well explained
Thank you, very good video. Pretty much covered everything.
Great video!
I've gotta do my G35'S fan clutch soon. Going to follow your method
What up Nate man!! another classic vid!!!
Nice job..big help tanks.
Thanks for the video!!!! I have a wire harness that has to be repaired from electro visous fan. This video helps a lot!!!!!!
Nice job bud!
My daughters is throwing a po 00014
I changed the oil and the solenoid behind the power steering hopefully fingers crossed 🤞🏻
My name is Don from Chicago I watch your videos all the time I have a 2006 Chevy trailblazer I have to change my clutch fan thank you for showing that video Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year thank you
Glad to help
Utah thank you so much for your help.
Thanks for sharing the video. I have the parts ordered to do this on a 2006 trailblazer. I was going to cut the shroud but seeing as you got it out just flexing it ill try that first. I would rather it not be a hack job but given it has about 200k miles its not a super concern.
Nice!!
Good to know. Ty
Cool!
Can you post a link to the clutch you got. Thanks. Watching from steep falls, maine
Appreciate this, watching from Reno
Nice!
Great video, the fan clutch in my trailblazer needs to be replaced. I use an app called you cut to edit my phone videos for UA-cam
Same issue with my 2002 Blazer ZR2 4x4.. 195° Thermostat. It cycles at 195° but it's hot down here in SE Texas. When towing a small utility trailer it'll run above 210°!
I want to keep it cool & think I'm getting one of these.
My fan is locked up but not making noise (think all do that) when cold but disengages then I can see my temp cycle without towing.
I was thinking of installing a 4 core 2 electric fan radiator kit for $300 but this may do the trick. Thanx 🤟
Once you broke the big but, all you had to do was take the four bolts off the fan and take it off in two pieces, no need to remove fan shroud ,or drain cooling system.
Nice!
Thank you. You did a great job. Good camera work, explained each step. I have a p0495 high fan speed is what my tester says and my gas mileage has dropped quite a bit. Could the fan cause that problem? Thanks again. Bob😎
Yea!
Watching from Oxford,pa good videeo
Thx for video helped me change my fan clutch it started slingin oil
O my!! Nice!
Hi from NC NICE video thanks
Nice~!
How did you hold the fan clutch in place while removing the fan clutch.
Pretty sure the clutch is fine - actually just a bad wire. Before you replace yours check continuity between the clutch and the other side of the harness clip
Si eso no soluciona el problema chequea el Ambient Air Temperature Sensor
Thank you for this video. Very helpful. I just noticed that my 9-7x does not have any electrical plug attached to the clutch. Is that normal or did it fall down? I am wondering if a non-electrical type is also offered. TIA
Nice!!
Informative video! What happen to the Explorer? And, hello from PA! Not sure where you are but hope you're safe!
Thanks to you from Iraq 🇮🇶
I hate the early trailblazer fan clutch. I have an '03 and changed it 3 times. First 2 were cheapies off Ebay and lasted less than a year each. 3rd one is a Hayden. Better quality. So far so good.
Nice!!
i having that problem but is not over heat p1482 that all it saying it overheating
thanks ,Good video, mine is running hot can hear the fan roar at hi speeds, I've replaced the water pump, took out the thermostat to flush the system too , this will be second clutch in less thsn 12 months thanks
O my~!
Great video content El Paso Texas says hello
Nice!
Is a mix of a bad electronic clutch and the calibration in the computer. GM says to replace with an updated OEM electronic clutch and the computer to be recalibrated at a dealer. No one has the time or the money for that. I've actually just ordered an old fashion thermal clutch, AC Delco, that was used on the last couple of years of this platform truck, probably because GM got sick of trying to rectify problems with this setup. Great video, by the way. Great narration. Should work good enough for me even though my 03 Envoy is a 5.3 liter, I think the shroud and clutch removal are about identical.
I replaced mine but i dont remember having the computer recalibrating it, however i do think that after a while that the clucth performs better but i could be wrong
@@fargeeks what year? The earlier ones like 2003 needed a calibration update whenever you replaced the original electric fan clutch. I don't think the later ones needed that

My trailblazer shakes when I turn the ac on
Really cool video ....have the same problem with mines. My ac isn't that cool and engine overheats a little bit....this is Eddie from Philly
Nice!!
I have a code p0526. With a a slight engine knock I would try some Lucas oil as it till help quiet it down by slightly increasing your oil pressure. Been using Lucas for years.
Word!
Do you know the size, & the name of the plastic pins at 4:25 in your video? Recently went to a mechanic, & he left the harness free floating to where it created a clicking under the hood. The harness was ridding on the fan. Super anoying!
Got a buick Rainer(basically the same thing) the a/c won't blow cold wile sitting still because of the clutch not working properly
Nice!
That was why i replaced mine, achieved little results however to be fair I found out that at idle its normal for the ac to have a slight reduction on performance
South Carolina
I have a 2006 Saab 97X 4.2 l it's not overheating but the fan will thwart whenever it's spinning is there a way I can bypass that and just put a regular fan on it
Have to build your own custom Electric setup.
I thought about it but barely any room.
Chesapeake, VA
I have a GMC Envoy with the fan clutch stuck on making the loud whooshing sound. Pretty sure this should be the same setup or very similar as to mine.
If its a bad clutch you should get a P0 code i would think. I know mine does it when cold for quite some time, then it sorta gets quite after it warms up.
Yes I have the engine code for fan clutch speed and being here in Canada my part is going to cost $365.00
Hi thanks for the video I save 250 I replace my self.i whatching from Ackley Iowa
Nice! $$$$
I think this is my problem as well watching from mi
Nice!!
Where did u buy the fun clutch from?
Get it from 1a auto. I replaced mine over a year ago for my envoy and it still works perfect
I would have rather done this than what I just had to do to my '03 Trailblazer. I live on a narrow country back road here in south central PA and another car was coming down the road toward me. I had to pull off the side of the road to let the car by and I hit a couple of 5 inch diameter branches that someone threw to the side of the road. The one branch flew up scraping the paint on the door a little and busted the mirror of the passenger side. I looked around, but all the ones I was finding only have 5 or 7 wires leading into the mirror. Mine uses 11 wires because of all the options the Trailblazer has. Right now, I just have the mirror held in place with gorilla tape. While I was at it, I also replaced the rear window washer pump. My pump hasn't worked since I got the Trailblazer 3 years ago.
O my!
And by the way, those Instrument Panel Clusters in these Trailblazers are known for going bad as well. But the original one can be rebuilt. Much cheaper this way too.
My original one started acting weird with the messeges center rebooting itself and the fuel, oil pressure gauges going to 0 then back to normal
Thanks ended up being easier this way lol
Right!!
Another ? Some people say that if you dont reset the hvac system after install of the new fan clutch will go bad again? Have you heard of this
It has to do with the aftermarket ones. There is no reset from I see. Unless you take it to a dealer, if they even have the availability to do work on a 20 year old SUV. So i try to stick with OEM on these fans (on trailblazers).
Thank you for your response and clarification
What year is your envoy ?
2006
All I wanted to know is how the wiring harness clipped on and you skipped that
hey from agawam mass.
type of coolant is used in those trailblazers... is he normal green ok
Book says most are
It says DEX on the coolant tank cap.
So it's been 10 months. Has this fixed the problem?
Yep! Get a oem one OR find one at a junkyard used. Make sure the plastic fan shroud is not busted or have holes i it like mine.
Hello
~
God video, however sharoud? No such thing. It’s a shroud.
Sometimes i say sweeerroldddddie. lol
so you post all those links but not to the actual part you replaced.
Some places are out of business
You know whats funny??
Old clutch on my ascender makes like a scraping sound and the fan would spin really slow upon startup and slowly spin up
Medal sounds
@@FixingWithPassion yes medal sounds!!
After a while it would go away
But as for the new clutch i had put in , now whenever i start it up it spins the fan *high* but then it slows down to a nice and quiet rpm
I also think the acceleration is a bit improved
How many miles on the ole girl?
warren mich
Your a lie. NO WAY YOU USED A CROW BAR TO BRAKE THAT 36MM BOLT A LOSE!! KEEP IT REAL
I was there your weren't!
