such a brilliant episode with an Arsenal great.
As a young arsenal supporter, I'm sad I never got to witness the 1998 and Invincible teams play live. The character and passion those teams showed to achieve what they did is something the current squad could look up to if they want to achieve greatness. I also loved the stories of all the funny moments and the challenges that happened on and off the pitch. Hearing about the more human side of a footballers career really gives me a deeper appreciation for all of their achievements.
Thank you Gary, Alan, and Martin❤

I am lucky enough to have watched football from 1994 onwards. Arsenal in the late 90s/early 2000s were incredible. I remember Man United were dominating and for a few seasons they couldn't cope with Arsenal. Great battles, great rivalry

What an episode. Mr. Keown is one the toughest, grittiest, consistent central defenders the premier league and Arsenal have ever seen.
And like many others, I too pine for 80’s/90’s/2000’s era of football where players were creative, spontaneous and enjoyed the beautiful game.

This kind of interview makes me crave for football in the 80s, 90s and the early 2000s, and clearly those older than me would wish earlier than that. But that was what I grew up with, especially as an Arsenal fan. Proper players with skills. Money, stats and data have ruined football. Even as an Arsenal fan, players like JJ Okocho were a pleasure to watch at Bolton. Would an Okocho be successful in today's Premier League? I doubt it. Players were proper players back then, now they're just glorified athletes.

    • @Rafflewafflez

Irish Keown? wow didnt know. Reminds me, Im sure Gary remembers Gerry McGowan. He was from Derry, signed for Leicester Youth Team and lived in digs with Gary back in about 1979. He came home for a quick visit with his family, and by sheer coincidence was arrested for being an IRA member. Forced to sign a confession, then got sentenced to life. Anyway, he went on the run for 20 years, then got an apology from the British government. If he hadnt gone back that weekend, he could have been a household name. great documentary about it on youtube called running scared 2002.

A very adult view and in my opinion, the right way to view it. They're all human, don't cancel the guy because of this. Looking at the results he officiated in the only loss was Arsenal in February so I completely agree with the presenter on the right, where he said someone has sat on this videeo and timed it's release accordingly.
