As a landscape an nature photographer, I love my ancient XT-2. I switched from Nikon to Fuji a few years ago and it was the best decision for me. Even though I shoot RAW and JPEG, for the most part, I use the JPEGs because they give me the look that I want from a photo.
@@aidanduncan8187interesting! I use AF loads on the street, but I suppose it depends on my goals for that specific session. Sometimes I prefer my manual focus glass, but I’d say street is really dynamic and diverse.
Fuji JPEGs are amazing and they have huge editing capabilities. I send my Fuji JPEGs to my iPad and edit them in Snapseed.. I can make huge p4ints f4om th3m. .
I own both the Nikon Z8 and the X-T5, and I agree with you. I was also amazed with the Fuji X-T5 40 megapixel images. I used my Tamron 17-70mm 2.8 lens with the X-T5, but it didn't quite resolve the 40 megapixel images. I sold this lens and purchased Fuji's new 16-50mm 2.8-4.8 "kit" lens and I immediately noticed the improved sharpness, color, and contrast. The X-T5 requires Fuji's best lenses. I also prefer Fuji's jpegs to the Nikon's. I shoot both jpegs and Raw with my Nikons, but for most of my Fuji photos, the jpegs get the job done.
Super interesting experience with the lenses! I only have the 16-80mm f4 which I doubt resolves the 40mp very well, but to my eye, it’s plenty good enough. My plan with the Fuji, given that I also shoot with the Nikon, is to pretty much exclusively shoot with primes when I can afford them, and have the 16-80 be my “do everything” lens. I never end up using jpegs from either camera, but that’s only because of how I prefer my finished edits. The Fuji jpegs are stunning to say the least
Fully agree with you. With the XT5, it pays off to use Fuji’s best lenses. My “holy trinity” currently consists of the new 16-50 (which indeed is amazing), the 18mm f/1.4 and the 33mm f/1.4. With these 3 lenses, I’m covered for almost everything.
I picked up my first Fuji, an x100vi and immediately realized I wanted interchangeable lenses (this is just hobby). I sold it back and got the X-T5 and now I'm in heaven. Loved your points of view. Great snaps, too. Holy cats. I liked your point about being a sucker for brand. I get that. I like that you know that about yourself. And I think we all are to some level - even if we don't admit it.
The x100vi looks absolutely incredible. The one chance I had to play with it, I loved it, but it doesn’t really replace something like the Xt5. Glad to hear you found the right camera for you! Brand appreciation is in all of us, whether we admit it or not hahaha
I have a Sony A7IV and finally got my X100VI at the end of August. Fell in love with the X100 and now I’m planning on selling my Sony and using the X100VI for maybe a year or so and see how I feel then. But likely going to invest in the Fujifilm ecosystem. If the X-T6 is out by then I’ll probably grab that. Sony cameras are good but never really loved them. The X100VI is my favorite camera I’ve ever used.
Epic plan! I would absolutely love to use the x100VI. Don’t have the money now, but eventually I’ll make it happen. Fuji has that character in use and result that is so beautiful. Sony is technically brilliant but never very inspiring (for me)
I completely understand. I was shooting with fuji for 6 years and last cameras I had were XT3 and XPro2. Some time ago I sold them both and bought Leica Q2. Doesn't matter how many pictures I took with it, how I changed my photo style, somehow it's still not the "right"one. No idea why, I'm still looking at XT5 whenever I see it! Leica is very beautiful camera and I love its simple but beautiful design, however mostly it's just single purposed camera. I might get the XT5 with 16-80. I had this lens before, it was my travel lens in every types of weather. Together with 35mm f2. Or at least I''m very tempted :D Good luck with your Fuji, you have many great shots👍
I love the Q2 as well, but you’re right, it doesn’t replace something like the Fuji at all. I love the 16-80! Thanks for the conversation and support 😊🤙🏻
Great video! I love love love my Sony A7R5, and I really enjoy using it for its autofocus, clinical sharpness, and flexibility. However, I do miss my XT5 from time to time for its compact size, ergonomics, and more filmic look.
Sounds like we have a very similar sentiment! It’s just a fun camera to use. My Z8 will be my first choice most of the time for all the same reasons, but I’m increasingly surprised when I have both of them on me how much I actually opt for the Fuji
Visiting Brazil for two months and my landscapes and portraits feel very good and it’s the non-clinical aspects of the photos. The highlights are very important for shooting with my style and the fujifilm dynamic range is a lot of fun in JPEG quality so I can share a perfect impression without breaking down my gear to upload raw files onto my Mac.
Happy to have you here! It’s not all street photographers shooting Fuji 🤙🏻🤣 I appreciate the support, and let me know if there’s ever anything you’d like me to focus on. If I can, I will!
@@SamBugas To be honest I think you should just keep on going regularly. The quality/input of your videos is astounding. I will be doing 2 Thru Hikes this summer so I was looking for a good video on what to bring and I found it on your channel. I think maybe a full on process from composition and taking the picture to editing would be quite interesting. Andy Mumford does this so well, if you watch some of his videos. Anyways keep on going and ill keep on watching!
Great video - I'm so torn between getting the xs20 and the xt5 for my Japan trip... If I'm a hybrid shooter maybe a bit more video focused, which would you recommend?
Honestly, the XS-20 is an incredible little camera. In many ways it is more than enough, and given the open gate option for video, it can even be a better vid cam than the X-T5 in some ways. If you need weather sealing, theres no question the X-T5 is the way to go, otherwise the XS-20 should be more than enough. I've considered picking one up as a second video cam for youtube and filmmaking.
Heyyy, thanks for the feedback 🤙🏻 the X-T2 is so dang good for so many reasons. It is a notable jump to the X-T5/other new models though. Let me know if I can help answer any questions as you look at upgrading. Cheers to NZ 🤙🏻
I used to shoot with and XT1 and XT2 and was pretty happy with them apart from the autofocus. Fuji cameras are great. I shoot Sony now and my a7R5 is great too. I would have probably gone back to Nikon if Nikon had not been so slow at coming out with the Z6 III. The Z8 was too big for me. I went to Fuji for size and with Sony I can still have a relatively light setup and shoot FF.
Totally fair! The A7R5 is an epic cam. Nikon did take a long time to roll out their better cams, and now that they are here I’m glad to be in the system. Truth is everyone is making great gear lately, I just prefer Fuji and Nikon for feel and lenses.
@@SamBugasTo be fair Sony bodies are not an issue for me. I have average-size hands. The customisability is awesome. And the lens choice is amazing to the point where it’s difficult to choose. But you’re right. I could go with any brand and be happy at this stage.
Hey Sam! I am very interested in your thoughts on the XT5 vs the ZF for a trekking camera (self-supported, solo, backcountry, ultralight/lightweight, no porters).
Hey! What a great question. I’ve only used the ZF shortly, but I know enough to make a few assumptions. If you are pushing the cameras autofocus, the Nikon is always going to win, but in your case, that doesn’t seem to be a concern. It then boils down to image quality, lenses, fun factor, etc… given you’re asking about trekking, the Fuji would be the lighter kit, so that matters a fair deal. The images out of both are top tier. I would say the Nikon will be a fair bit better for low light, and generally will give a technically better photograph due to the advantages that full frame has (and the beautiful sensor they put in the ZF). However, the Fuji, while perhaps less technically perfect, spits out some of the best looking files and photos I’ve ever seen. In other words, you can’t go wrong with either. Personally I don’t love how the ZF feels in my hand, and I do love the XT5, but this is rather personal, and my experience shouldn’t guide your assumption about feel in hand. The ZF will be a bit tougher, but that also adds to the weight. If you are doing much video work, the ZF will be substantially better as well. As for lenses, I absolutely love Fuji and Nikon lenses (which is why I am in both systems). You can’t go wrong, but Fuji lenses will be lighter, and cheaper, so if you break them while trekking it won’t hurt as much haha. I won’t tell you one is a better choice than the other because there’s too much subjective information to consider. The Nikon ZF is the better camera, but there’s a reason I bought the XT5 rather than the ZF, I’ll leave it at that haha.
Thank you and absolutely fair. In truth, much of my work from this trip was commercial and I am not allowed to share it. Eventually I’ll share it on here!
I would love to! I had the XH2 a year ago and wished I had gotten the XH2S instead. Would be a great video cam. Only downside is the X-T5 is much smaller, making it ideal for my use case
Welp… looks like I’m getting the XT-5 as my first camera. Heading to South America in a couple of years for a 8 month + trip, and want to hone my photography skills between now and then. So off we go!
Amazing! It’s really an incredible camera. If you find the cost to be prohibitive at all, the X-T3 and X-T4 are also great cameras. The X-T5 is the most refined, and both photo and video have improved considerably, but the older models are still pro cameras in many ways. Have fun with this adventure! You’re going to be hooked hahaha
It was an incredible trek. I still think about it most of each day hahaha. I only have the 16-80mm for the Fuji as of now. I’ll make a video on it at some point
Nice video. Congratulations. I’m a xpro3 owner and I’m thinking about the xt5. I do know why I like Fujifilm but when I do see people creating great work as you, I would like to know a bit more about how those images were taken aside saying that “… I don’t know what it is but just like the Fujifilm look”. For me is the same as people talking about the “Leica look”. It’s like you took it out of the box and used Provia/Std straight profile? You shot jpeg or raw? You edited or are this SOOC? Do you use film simulations? Just for helping me understanding better how you got those wonderful pictures even if l do know how to capture on my camera those pictures that please me. I really enjoyed the video and is nice to see someone pushing up the xt5 on times others are trashing the brand around bad firmware updates.
Great points Oscar and thank you for calling attention to that. I shoot raw, standard profile, no film simulations or anything special. I believe Fuji has a way of rendering colors that is very pleasing and that is the Fuji look to me. I do not understand camera technology enough to explain how this happens, but I do know that each camera company has different colors that are emphasized or rendered in a more pleasing way even on normal raw files. I also agree that Leica files are incredible, and it boils down to color cast and contrast (in my opinion). I will try to explain this more clearly moving forward. Thanks again for chiming in and watching! The xt5 is an incredible camera, and I agree, there’s been way too many videos bashing it, likely just so they can get views. Cheers 🤙🏻
The fuji sensor is a bit different from everybody else's, specifically the arrangement of color filters. I don't "know", but I think that's part of it. As for the film sims...I generally prefer Capture One's interpretations to the in-camera ones (and they are subtly but obviously different if you shoot jpg+raw and look at them next to each other or do an ABX test). fwiw, between film sim bracketing (it just makes 3 jpgs from each raw capture) and x-raw-studio, there's a lot to play with even after the fact if you prefer fuji's film sims.
@@587583922 incredible insights 🤙🏻 thank you for the info. I’ve noticed the sims on jpegs vs raw overlays in cap 1 and Lightroom is definitely different (as you say). I don’t use the sims hardly ever, but if I do, I usually just stick with jpeg and ignore my inner impulses to edit much hahaha
@@SamBugas i tend to wind up shooting very contrasty scenes, just because of what I like to point the camera at. If I had a complaint about the xt5, it's that i can't configure exactly where the highlight alerts go off like you can on a couple cameras. It'll retain detail brighter than it tells you it will (even with natural live view, which removes the film sim from evf/lcd and lets you basically see the raw). As a result, I'm often compromising in camera and adjusting shadows, highlights, or both in CO...basically JPGs aren't really an option a lot of the time unless I want to manage a bunch of custom profiles...which isn't what i call fun. At least right now, i mostly switch the sim based on what I want to see in the viewfinder (usually acros+r) and then decide later. I did an event-ish thing last weekend that I was sure I'd end up printing in b/w...nope. Classic Chrome (capture one's version) won by a mile with very little editing necessary. Based on what I was seeing IRL, i don't know that i even would have looked at it in camera that way.
I resonate with your thoughts on most cameras of today's day and age being capable enough to narrate stories how you want to. I own an XE-4, one of the cheaper models that Fuji makes, because I felt it was sufficient for me. All of the fancy features just fade away when you're in the moment, documenting what's around you. Great video! Kudos 🙌
Love your photography and the video! You only addressed it in passing, but it doesn't seem that crop sensor vs ff played any role in how you look at the XT5. I am currently in the market for a new camera and am torn between the Sony a7iv and the XT5. I rented the XT5 for a trip to Kauai and was not impressed. It died on me once during a boat trip, and the AF was not great for people (when they move). But I used older lenses that also didn't resolve well. I am willing to reconsider the XT5 just because the ergonomics and the overall package are great.
Hey Ralph! Thanks for the support 🤙🏻 In many ways the crop doesn’t matter to me at all. I do have my Nikon Z8 (I’ll be releasing a review this week) that covers my more high stress moments, but in truth I’d be perfectly fine using the XT5 95% of the time. I’m surprised it died on you as I’ve found the battery is the best I’ve used on any camera. I always have a few though. To be honest, the Sony is a better camera in almost every way. I’ve used Sony and really disliked the cameras. I found them lifeless, and I put a ton of value in the way a camera feels in my hand. Some people might disagree, but for me it really matters. The Fuji feels so good to use that I end up using it a lot, and the files are as good as most cameras on the market. Autofocus is never going to stack up against Sony, and with moving people it can be finicky. You can usually dial it in a little in the settings, and with a quick focusing lens like the newer glass, everything seems to be more reliable and zippy. The old glass is truly old for Fuji haha. All said, I’d go with the camera you feel more excited about picking up. These are both some of the nicest cameras on the market.
@@SamBugas Thanks so much for the thoughtful and helpful reply. I should say that the battery wasn't the issue when the XT5 blacked out. I was continuously taking photos, and all of a sudden the camera died. I had to take out the battery, wait, and then could wake it up again. That one incident doesn't affect my decision since I am coming back to it. And I come back because I just love how the Fuji handles. My XT20 (sold today) was meant as a travel camera because I did not want to haul all my Nikon FF gear with me anymore, and even that small camera produced publishable images (actually, one photo was licensed for a book cover). I used more often than my other camera but then found its limitations (mainly AF, EVF taking ages to come on) a bit frustrating. The thing is that the XT5's AF is just fine in 90% of all scenarios, but the 10% of missed shots just bugs me. As always, there will be trade-offs. And in the end, you are right, these are both great cameras. Since I still have some Fuji lenses, I might stay with Fuji.
@@raveG244that AF will always be a reason I prefer having a second camera that can handle the tougher moments. I also find I can push my low light ideas further with FF. It’s never an easy call, and to have either camera is a crazy cool opportunity; like you said, they’re both great!
You shot with the Fuji raw or jepg ? I also have the xt5 , I build my raw on film simulator profiles . It’s amazing . What do u think about the autofocus firmware 7.00 ? Because the af became really sucks I hope the repair this in the next firmware ….
Hey! I shoot raw without film presets. I leave it all standard. I haven’t updated it in a long time so I can’t speak to the current update. Autofocus is perfectly fine for me right now 🤙🏻
I’d love to use those! I only have the 16-80 which doesn’t have that same character. The camera has enough straight away, though, so I can only imagine when I put some legacy glass on there 🤙🏻
@@SamBugas beautful results can happen, even though not on ’The List” of lenses that fully resolve 40mp. JerredZ has a wonderful video about using the old 35mm on the X-T5.
@@Micardi12 Absolutely! I have never cared about sharpness at all. One of my most used lenses on my Nikon Z8 is a 50 year old film lens that I adapted. It's soft as all get out, and yet it fits me perfectly. I would love to play with that 35mm 1.4, I've heard nothing but great things. Character matters more than clinical 10/10 times.
The 16-80 is an absolute beast for travelling - had the chance to pick up a very sharp one, can't reproduce this Micro - / Contrasts, Sharpness & special look with other Zoom Lenses ♥️
@@SamBugas It is very beautiful, i am very surprised by what this camera looks to do, as people as you say might be more careful to allusion. I have see worries from some people about the dials on the top that could be damaged with time by dust or rain. How is it for you ?
Hey James! Thanks so much for the support 🤙🏻 I just got my X-T5 and only have the 16-80 f4 at the moment. I absolutely love that lens for much of my work though. Next lens I plan to get is the viltrox 27mm f1.2. Not the normal small Fuji style haha, but it would be a blast for commercial work and certain creative work! I have an underwater housing for my Fuji and I think a bright prime would be fun for that kind of shooting
Hey Adam, I’d say 80 to 90% of it is from the X-T5. Been really loving the footage from the X-T5 even though I also have a Z8 which has technically better video.
A lot of people are bashing the auto focus on Fugi (including the xt5), especially compared to Canon and Sony. What has been your experience with Fugi AF?
I’d say a lot of the people bashing the autofocus are portrait photographers using eye detection and tracking whereas for landscape work etc then I’d hazard a guess you would use single point focus and wouldn’t see much of an issue as it works fantastically like that
I use an XH2S for wildlife. The AF is OK. Not top tier but not terrible. Let’s just say my hit rate has not impacted my experience. So I would say that is a success.
I am perfectly happy with it for eye tracking, landscapes, and slower paced adventure work. When I have wildlife or action sports like skiing, it gets harder to rely on. Still usable, but not competitive with other major brands (in those niche cases)
All the photos at this point were taken on the 16-80mm F/4. Since then I've been using the TTArtisan 10mm F/2 which you can find in my video from last week, but the 16-80 is my go to option 80-90% of the time.
@@SamBugas I’m deciding between a Zf and and XT5 right now. Would love your thoughts on why you think your photos on the XT5 were some of your favourites even though you have the incredibly powerful z8 Thank you!
@@2and20 Fun spot to be as both cameras are incredible. If I were you, I would decide which lenses you prefer. I love both Nikon and Fuji lenses, and each have their merits. Full transparency, the Nikon ZF is the better camera between the two in almost every way, but that shouldn't be why you choose it. If you are shooting with a high need for autofocus (sports, events, etc...) the Nikon will be far superior. However, I like the feeling and act of using the Fuji much more. Both will produce beautiful files. As for why the X-T5 files were some of my favorites, I believe it has to do with two things. First, I was shooting with the 16-80mm lens which is excellent for story telling and has a beautiful look to it. Second, the fuji files are less digital than the Nikon, and for storytelling moments, the fuji has a very authentic look that I am drawn to. You can create that effect with the files from the Nikon, but because I took so many with the Fuji, I came away with more from that camera. The Z8 is a far better camera, and ZF likely is as well, but Fuji lenses are some of my favorite, and quite frankly, you cant go wrong with either camera. It entirely depends on what your shooting needs are.
@@SamBugas this is helpful. When you say the fuji files are "less digital", do you mean they are "film like"? How hard would it be for you to get your z8 files to look like the fuji files do you think? I have done a bit of editing on some of my nikon files and can never get it quite right
@2and20 I suppose film like is somewhat accurate. Fuji files are certainly not akin to film, but closer than most modern cameras. I don’t really try to replicate the Fuji look on my Nikon, so I can’t speak much to that. I can say, though, that I have no problem getting photos to match between both cameras when I need a cohesive set of photos (commercial work).
From your experience, do you feel the xt5 is very bad at low light photos or they are good enough to not worry about? I know full frame is better for low light photos but APSC smaller form factor and lower cost has me debating which of the two to go. Deciding between the xt5($1,699) paired with 35mm xf lens and a Nikon z6ii ($1,599) paired with the 26mm z lens.
Very bad? Not at all. It’s really quite good in low light. Usually, though, low light is much less about the camera than it is the lens. If you are getting the 35 f2 or 35 f1.4, you’ll have all the light you need for most situations. The Z6 would be distinctly “better”, but not in a way that makes a difference in most cases. Between the two, I’d probably get the X-T5 honestly. Also the 26 and the 35 aren’t going to be very comparable lenses as they have very different perspectives.
@@SamBugas I really want the all black XT5 but still unavailable for purchase. The silver color way is available but I will continue to patiently wait for the all black to come back into stock.
@@willguan7214hey Will! That’s not quite accurate. 26mm in full frame is equivalent to 17mm on apsc. A 35mm apsc is roughly 52mm in full frame, so the 26mm would be a much wider option.
There are a lot of videos bashing the Fugi (Xt5 included) auto focus. Most are saying the Fugi auto focus is way behind Sony and Canon. What is your experience with XT5 autofocus?
@@allenschneider1847 Hey Allen, great question. I would say that it's more than capable for loads of shooting situations. I am happy using it with people/people focused events, landscapes, slow action photography (climbing or mountaineering), and basic video projects. It doesn't compare to some of the newer stuff like the Nikon Z8, Canon R5, or latest Sony stuff, and if you are shooting wildlife or fast action like mountain bikes, skiing, etc... I would opt for one of those cams. To put it simply, it's good enough for most people and will not feel like it's in your way. For some people, though, it doesn't cut it. There is a reason I also have the Z8, and that's because I do shoot subjects at times that the Z8 is far better built to handle. Hope this helps!
Congratulations! I haven’t used the 56mm lenses yet, so I can’t really advise. It certainly depends on what you like to shoot. I’m of the mind that if you have a versatile lens, why not grab an exotic lens like the 56mm and have some fun. If it doesn’t fit your style, you can always resell it.
Love it! The 18-55 is a great lens as well. Can't go wrong either way, with so much versatility. I'm super curious about the new kit lens that supposedly resolves the sensor better.
I hate myself 😞 I should have purchased an extended warranty on my brand new X-T5 camera. Long story short... After ownership of the X-T5 for one year and nine months the camera is in need of repair because of mediocre average built quality. I sent the camera into an official Fuji repair tech who told me (3-weeks later) it will cost $210.00 (US) dollars to replace the sticky on/off power switch. Yes, $210.00 dollars to replace a manufacturer faulty switch on a LESS THAN 2-year old camera 😡 Before anyone attack me I'd like to say that the camera was very well taken care of. i.e., It was never stumped on by a pack of domesticated Indian elephants. It was never used up in the wintry Swiss alps. It was never used as a weapon while walking through unsavory neighborhoods in Los Angeles. It was absolutely never taken into the bath tub with me! In fact, I took better care of my camera (Fujifilm X-T5) more so than of myself. My advice to all interested purchasers of any Fuji camera product, BY EXTENDED WARRANTIES! on the 400mm lens, the X-T20 and the X-T5. Important: do REGISTER your new toys so you'll get direct email notices on all new firmware updates.
Great Advice and some crazy scenarios that you "didn't" partake in lol. I've personally treated mine like a rough tool, taking it on climbs, treks, rainy day wanders and a whole lot more. So far it's build quality has been every bit as good as I would ask for. I've heard others that don't feel it is as high quality as it should be, but I suppose time will tell. My X-T2 was a weapon when I had it, I hope the X-T5 lasts as well as it's older brother did. Thanks for chatting!
Enjoyed it and agree. I recently upgraded to an xt5 from a 20-year old nikon (obviously not a pro) and am very happy. The "haters" are absolutely right that the af-c tracking is insanely slow compared to the big boys... it's not "wrong", it's just that even set to focus priority any continuous shutter drastically outruns the focus tracking. I'd imagine it's really bad for video, though i don't plan on ever using video mode. In basically every other way, to me, it's up there with how the fanboys talk about Leica, in many of the same ways. Basically, if I shot sports, I'd probably go buy a canon. For everything I actually do, I jist love it.
Super accurate. I will say that I use the Fuji for almost all my video and it works fine. I mostly do still frame video shots and slow pans, so it’s not being pushed, but it does just fine for that stuff. The autofocus also works fine for street and people moving, just not moving fast haha. It’s the perfect camera for many many people
@@SamBugas I can see that. Like I said, AF-C on Fuji isn't wrong, it's just slow. Everything else about the shooting experience is incredible, at least for my preferences. I think it's one of the funny big-picture things about photography that the more you "need" some advanced tool/aid, the less well it works. I'm fine zone-/pre- focusing people, pets, and some degree of sports/action. But, at some point even with crazy high ISO, you have to open the aperture enough that your hit rate plummets. That's when AF-C and subject detection would really help. But, that's also when the camera can't see enough to really get it right. I'm lucky in that there are a couple good rental shops near me. If I need to shoot sports/action outside of incredible light, I'll just rent something. It's expensive, but it's not nearly as expensive as actually buying gear I don't like as much just for something I rarely care to do.
Background music makes your video nearly unusable in parts. Either don't utilise background music or learn how to use music with voiceover. Many creators are ruining their work by adding non adequate background music to voiceovers.
Hey thanks for the feedback! Some people love it, others not so much. I’m always working on improving my leveling. Sorry it’s not for you, but I also like the style. I’ll work on improving the balance between voice and music levels. Thanks for the feedback!
@@SamBugas , welcome! The primary principle is that the content of your voiceover mesaage must take precedence over the background music. The background music should be selected meticulously and expertly blended. The art depends on two factors: selecting music that neither distracts nor creates noise, but rather enhances the message, and employing appropriate audio mixing techniques. The principal issue presently rests in inadequate audio mixing. Insufficient mixing is unrelated to musical preference. Search UA-cam for - make your voice stand out over the background music.
Or at least I''m very tempted :D
Good luck with your Fuji, you have many great shots👍
I love the Q2 as well, but you’re right, it doesn’t replace something like the Fuji at all. I love the 16-80! Thanks for the conversation and support 😊🤙🏻
Sold my X=PRO 3 and have been shooting my XT-5 EXCLUSIVELY! Amazing camera for its size.
I’d love to try the X-Pro line, but having the xt5 just makes it hard to justify, especially when it’s so great to use!
beautiful shots brother - just waiting for black friday to order my first fuji xt5. I'm so hyped. absolutely stunned…
It’s a killer gadget 🤙🏻 Enjoy!
7:35 I switched from Sony to the XT-5 for the same reason. Fuji is just so much more fun to use😁📸
Some will never agree, but I just don’t have as much fun with Sony cameras. They are absolutely excellent, but have never inspired me in any way.
Great video. Looking forward to more. Hope your channel grows.
Thank you! More to come, and I certainly hope it grows as well! You make it happen by reaching out and being kind, thank you!
Fuji definitely knows how to make a great looking file right out of the camera, RAW or JPEG, they are such practically useful cameras 🤙🏻
Always looking for more landscape photographers with an XT-5. Great pictures and video
Great images, and I can fully agree ! I had the same experience...it surprised me for sure.
Oh yeah, SUBSCRIBED !
Much appreciated 🤙🏻 It’s just a beast for the size. Being so much fun to use, and so capable, makes it pretty dang unique
What I love from fujifilm are their lenses are sharp even the cheap one are more sharp then competitors lenses.
I couldn’t agree more! So much amazing glass to choose from, and you pretty much can’t go wrong. 🤙🏻
Welcome back to the Fuji gang 🤘
Happy to be here 🥸
Great video - I'm so torn between getting the xs20 and the xt5 for my Japan trip...
@@SamBugas thank you!! i'm thinking the xs20 is the one for me. I also forgot to ask - what lens were you using here with the xt5?
@@kellymei.just the 16-80mm f4. Enjoy whichever choice you make! Cheers
Great video! I really enjoyed listening to this. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Andy!! Really appreciate the support!
Love your video, well put together. As an XT2 user looking to upgrade it was awesome to see your journey through this camera. Hi from NZ
Heyyy, thanks for the feedback 🤙🏻 the X-T2 is so dang good for so many reasons. It is a notable jump to the X-T5/other new models though. Let me know if I can help answer any questions as you look at upgrading. Cheers to NZ 🤙🏻
The Fuji Film & Z8 workflow comment was very important for me to know, thank you.
Glad it was useful! Niche considerations, but important when they fit you!
Great video, excited to see more
Stoked to have you around! Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Very beautiful photos and very honest statement - mew subscriber 😀
Happy to have you here Robert! Thanks for the support!

Perfect camera in so many ways 🤙🏻😊 thanks for the support 😄
Great! Very inspiring! Only wish there more pictures
Thank you and absolutely fair. In truth, much of my work from this trip was commercial and I am not allowed to share it. Eventually I’ll share it on here!
Which lens did you use for the XT5 for all of these beautiful shots?
I was shooting with only the 16-80mm f4
Try the XH2s the stacked X trans sensor is a marvel
I moved from a R5 to XH2S and SX20 and love both.
I love mine too! What are some of your favorite lenses? Your trek through Peru looked amazing!
It was an incredible trek. I still think about it most of each day hahaha. I only have the 16-80mm for the Fuji as of now. I’ll make a video on it at some point
Which lens did you use for the pics of the mountains? 😮
The only lens I had with me for the X-T5 on this trip was the 16-80mm F/4. It's such a killer lens!
Cheers 🤙🏻
@@SamBugas thank you 🙏
The fuji sensor is a bit different from everybody else's, specifically the arrangement of color filters.
Kudos 🙌
Love the insight 🤙🏻 The XE4 looks incredible. Shooting experience and fun factor are so important in fostering creativity
Your “cheaper” XE4 sells used for what the XT5 does now 😅
@@lwwells the Fuji trends are nuts lol. I’d kill for an X100VI but I’d never spend $2k hahaha
Beautiful photos!
Thank you!!
Sorry if I missed it, but what lens are you using?
Hey Derek, I have the 16-80mm f/4 glued to my camera these days.
Autofocus is perfectly fine for me right now 🤙🏻
What lens(s) did you use? The older 16mm & 35mm 1.4s in particular are praised for their ‘character’ and Fuji ‘look.’ Any experience with those?
I’d love to use those! I only have the 16-80 which doesn’t have that same character. The camera has enough straight away, though, so I can only imagine when I put some legacy glass on there 🤙🏻
@@SamBugas beautful results can happen, even though not on ’The List” of lenses that fully resolve 40mp.
JerredZ has a wonderful video about using the old 35mm on the X-T5.
@@Micardi12 Absolutely! I have never cared about sharpness at all. One of my most used lenses on my Nikon Z8 is a 50 year old film lens that I adapted. footage also of the xt5?
Still usable, but not competitive with other major brands (in those niche cases)
new subscriber here, nice review and like those Lungta flags in your place.
Thanks for joining and getting in touch! I’ve had the flags for years, but they’re wearing down quite a bit… thanks again!
What lenses u use for xt5?
As of now I have the 16-80mm f/4 that I use most of the time. I also have the ttartisan 10mm f/2
what lens was used for taking these photos on xt 5?
All the photos at this point were taken on the 16-80mm F/4. Since then I've been using the TTArtisan 10mm F/2 which you can find in my video from last week, but the 16-80 is my go to option 80-90% of the time.

@@SamBugas I’m deciding between a Zf and and XT5 right now. Would love your thoughts on why you think your photos on the XT5 were some of your favourites even though you have the incredibly powerful z8
Thank you!
我最近也買了XT5
正為了要不要買56mm的鏡頭在煩惱.
У меня тоже XT5+18-55mm и я совершенно согласен, это ьучшее, что со мной было!
Love it! The 18-55 is a great lens as well. Can't go wrong either way, with so much versatility. I'm super curious about the new kit lens that supposedly resolves the sensor better.
I hate myself 😞
I should have purchased an extended warranty on my brand new X-T5 camera.
Yes, $210.00 dollars to replace a manufacturer faulty switch on a LESS THAN 2-year old camera 😡
Before anyone attack me I'd like to say that the camera was very well taken care of. i.e., It was never stumped on by a pack of domesticated Indian elephants.
I jump to xt5 from a7cii and i know what i do
a7cii seems like an incredible camera. Likely pretty different feeling using one vs the other. I’d use whatever feels best in your hand :)

Great!
The first 3 minutes of pure B.S. , the title say X-T5.
Not really sure what you mean, but thanks for watching 🤙🏻
On the other hand, I hope that you succeed.
