- Welcome to "Pre-Run Activation Drills: Prepare Your Body for Optimal Performance"! In this 10-minute video, I'll guide you through a series of activation drills specifically designed to warm up your muscles, get your heart pumping, and connect your brain and body before your run for optimal performance.
As runners, we know the importance of properly preparing our bodies before hitting the road or trail. This pre-run warm-up routine will help wake up your muscles, increase blood flow, and enhance the mind-body connection, ensuring you're ready to perform at your best.
You'll be taken through a variety of dynamic exercises and drills that target key muscle groups used in running, activating and priming them for the upcoming run. These drills will not only prepare your muscles but also improve your coordination, balance, and overall running efficiency.

Great warm up before my long run (my longest to date and in -16 weather, I’m nervous!). I learned I need to work on my coordination. 😁 See you after in a post run stretch vid! (I can do this…i can totally do this…one step at a time, enjoy the pretty snow)
You got this Tiffany 👍🏻 well done for getting a good warmup in before you run, that will help. By the time you read this your run will be done, hope it went well 🙌🏻
Thanks, wow my heart is pumping!
Brilliant, glad it helped you warmup Jianjia 😀
Thank you for the warm up! Day 89!!
Well done Isabella, day 89!!! 🎉🙌🏻
Criss-cross!
😊 thanks for commenting 🙏
This was exactly what I needed. I do yoga 2-3 times a day and yet my right hip flexor always gets tight, especially on my longer runs. This video is exactly what I needed, thank you! Integrating some of these into my yoga stretches.
Thanks Alexander, I appreciate you following along with me and leaving such a positive comment! Your support means a lot, thanks. Happy running and stretching!
Hi Ash! Thank you for this video. As a pre-run, it has been too much cardio for me though... I rather the active stretching ones. But again, thank you also for this one, because I couldn't know what suits me best if I couldn't compare. I feel the stretching prepares my body better.
Thanks for sharing Silvia, this one is more cardio based as a slight mix up to the stretchy ones! These cardio based ones are great for more intense intervals or speedwork to get the heart rate up and ready for an intense session. Hope this helps 🙌😀
Good to know, Ash. I take note.I am still a beginner, not even running 5K yet. But Im improving after every run, and I am sure that in the future this kind of preparation will be needed. At least I hope so!
@@silvianavarrete1 gradual progress is the best for your body Silvia so you're doing it at the right pace!

Bit too much talking between exercises in this one, but it got me started at any rate.
Thanks for your feedback as always, I do consciously try to stop talking but my busy brain gets carried away sometimes!!!
First parkrun will leave result 😊

Definitely got my foot muscles working. Now for the run. I’ll try to remember to update my comment after!
Really kept my feet from cramping on the run, though I learned I need to wear at least ankle socks with my new running shoes. They did a number on my heels 😂
That’s great to hear 😊 thanks for stretching with me and commenting as always 🙏🙌🏻
