My adopted mother was 18 when she got married to her husband who was 4 years older than her. He was also 22 years old. Been since then. Has 3 daughters of their own. Been married going on 55 years.

I don’t think most people understand how underdeveloped mentally most young kids are. The same thing happened to me and I kept it together until I got older and it really affected me once I was more mentally developed and understood more as I grew up

This reminds me of the incest murders. This 24 year old guy went to meet a 15 year old and her parents knew and did nothing. The 15 year old got pregnant and gave the baby up for adoption. The "dad" went on to marry his own underaged daughter. All the parents were smiling in the wedding pictures. These parents need to get tough.
You may be able to get a background check on anyone in China but here in the USA and Canada, that info is kind of hard to come by, bud!

It’s just how the times were, this episode is probably from the mid-late 2000s. Before the mid 2010s it wasn’t seen as anything out of the norm for seniors to date freshman. Relationship gaps weren’t seen as disgusting. Hell in like 2012 tyga was basically in the mainstream dating Kylie Jenner at 17 when he was like 26 and most ppl just laughed and made jokes but no one saw it as disgusting.
Yep...I got preyed on from when I was 13 to 16. It was acceptable when I was in school to be that young, and to be with an older person. I eventually ended up with a guy who said he was twenty something, and he was in his forties. My mother told me that she just thought I was mature enough. She also wanted to get me emancipated when I was thirteen. Sent me away to a group home when I was like twelve. She always said she couldn't control me, but it turns out it was poor parenting. I know so many kids around my age that were teens, and messing with older guys. It's sad really. I'm older now, so I know everything that occurred was inappropriate. I was too busy thinking I was grown. I'm so sorry this happened to this young child. Sad world we live in.

If you are a teenager, please take this seriously. There was a case where a young lady named Ashleigh Hall, who was only 17 years old; She had her entire life ahead of her. She was meant to meet her online boyfriend for the first time, and she thought he was 17 too. In reality, he was 33. He pretended to be the boyfriends dad when he picked Ashleigh up, and murdered her after raping her. This is pure evil. Please protect yourself, always tell someone where you're going. The world is fallen, we have to use wisdom and protect the children.

I was 13, he was 19, but it didn't end there for him. Over the years he's been arrested for messing with teens and is currently serving time for sexually assaulting a 16 year old. I carried shame for a long time for being manipulated that way. My parents knew and did nothing.

This happened to so many girls I know... It's easy for Steve to say go out and be with your friends, meet boys in school and don't sit in front of computer etc. When I was in my teens, I was cripplingly shy and anxious and found it so hard to make friends. So talking to people for me was only possible in chatrooms. I had no social life at all in my teens and early 20s as sad as it is.
When I was her age, even at my age now, I stick to people, around my own age, I know some people get fooled, but when I was 13, no way I’d go for a 17 yr old, idc if we had a lot in common. But then again, I grew up on, To Catch a predator.

She was only 13, i doubt with her age she would have come to that conclusion on her own even if it seems obvious to us as adults. Teenagers (especially if it was one of her first relationships) will overlook red flags like this because they are inexperienced.

Every parent has a mission that must be kept on and that is protect your children. Teenagers will of course rebel because that's what they do but you stay on top of their lives and teach them right from wrong.

It's almost so obvious, but then again being a teenager simply means that you're starting to learn what becoming an adult will be like. You start to get really good a things that you practiced as a kid - how to tie your shoes, brush your teeth, wash your face, behave appropriately...And then you learn how to do more like drive a car, work, socialize outside of your friend group(s) to (hopefully) make more friends, & date other people.
And now with this COVID problem, it's even more dangerous because everyone is stuck at home, & pretty much everyone who is stuck at home is going online for everything, including dating.

This is to the parents because their daughter has NO FAULT in this situation. If a "17" year old gets caught with you 13-14 year old daughter, wouldn't that concern you? He's maybe about to turn 18, graduate highschool, etc and you still would leave them alone for an hour or two? Steve is saying he looks like he's in his 30's so why didn't the parents question that in the first place? The parents did so many irresponsible things here.

I am almost 24 and just came to realization that my "boyfriend" at 14 wasn't my boyfriend, he was a pedophile. It made me realize why I have a terrible fear towards men and I acted out when I was younger. I thought what we were doing was okay because of how he threatend me or tried to comfort me about it making it seem like it was normal to do. You are very brave and I'm glad you had the courage to get help! I wish I was as strong as you when I was your age.
