It's a wee bit more complicated than that. Some women get severe depression after a child is born and doesn't even have to be the first child. It's a hormonal thing. I knew a couple that went through this it nearly broke their marriage. She got admitted to a mental hospital for having thoughts of taking the lives of their kids. No joke. Men do not suddenly develop such things, though head trauma could alter someone. But that's about it. It does not excuse her. But maybe someone should have caught up on it that she was depressed. The sad thing is that the kids are the biggest victims in this btw.

Because she probably has postnatal depression. She wouldn't ever be convicted, heck even if she murdered her child it would be hard pressed to get someone convicted if they suffer from such illness. I've seen a cheerful mom with a lively God loving spirit wither away when she had it. Her husband got help and nothing happened to the kids. But her second pregnancy/birth triggered it. She turned into a shell of her former self. I've never seen a person change that much just from that. It's really no joke. And left alone with their child yeah. The worst can happen. I suffered from postpartum depression all three of my pregnancies. Not once, not ONCE did I EVER have a shred of a thought to strike my babies! My God! If anything I cried because I couldn’t imagine them being hurt one day for any reason at all because of the profound love I felt for them.

People should be openminded about everything regarding children. And regular visits with consultant in my country are pretty much mandatory. People learn about what's needed to take care. Imho this is a clear case of Postpartum depression/psychosis. This does not absolve her of what she did in the slightest but I hope that this brings about more awareness to it. A famous case of this was Andrea Yates. I think this woman fell into that trap of "I'm a mom and have natural instincts to care for mychild so asking for help makes me look bad" I wish she and other mothers were educated on PPD and PPP. Hopefully tragedies like this can be avoided in the future. I'm glad the baby is okay and I hope mom gets the proper help and punishment for what she did. Good for the father for stepping up

Though shes aweful, I really wish the comparisons of depression and "why didnt you get help?" Crap would stop. I live in Canada and cannot get help. My depression is beyond depression. It's not just being sad. Its 24 hours a day stopping myself from hurting myself or worse. Thankfully I dont have kids. I wouldnt be a good mom. I've done everything to make sure I dont have kids, ever. Shes really sick, and does need help but it's not just as easy as it seems to people that havent had to try to access those resources. Sadly in these cases, help isnt there until it's too late. I hope she no longer has her kids or anymore but I hope she gets help as well.

I've watched a million SWs. It's sad how I can tell the gender of the baby before they say it just by the father's demeanor.
Though shes aweful, I really wish the comparisons of depression and "why didnt you get help?" Crap would stop.
I live in Canada and cannot get help. My depression is beyond depression. It's not just being sad. Its 24 hours a day stopping myself from hurting myself or worse.
Thankfully I dont have kids. I wouldnt be a good mom. I've done everything to make sure I dont have kids, ever.
Shes really sick, and does need help but it's not just as easy as it seems to people that havent had to try to access those resources. Sadly in these cases, help isnt there until it's too late.
I hope she no longer has her kids or anymore but I hope she gets help as well.

got to love the double standard because if it was the other way and that was the father who beat that child Steve would have thrown the chair at him but because it's the mother she gets all the free counseling and support how is that fair
