My girlfriend and I traveling interstate 40 through Tennessee decided to detour and got married in a chapel on a mountain top in Dolly’s hometown of Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Have visited the area many times in the twenty seven years since. Beautiful area.
Hi I've known of this song for about a year and this video is the best version I love watching her fingers picking it reminds of bluegrass love your reaction love Dolly please react to Al Stewart Time passages
The other kids at her school made fun of her but she certainly has had the last laugh because she currently is worth about $500 million (that's half a BILLION) dollars! Her older fans (like myself) can identify with her because we too went to school wearing clothes that our mothers made for us and we also wore garments that had patches and shoes that had holes in them and we know what it is like to have our classmates laugh at us because we were poor. I am delighted that Dolly came out of the extreme poverty of her childhood and is now fabulously wealthy. YOU GO, GIRL!
The purity of the story and her voice is unable to fake. That's really Dolly. Dolly returned to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with all of her wealth and built a popular family resort (country style Disneyland) that emplyees 4,000 people in a place that desperately needed jobs. She also is again famous for her charity that provides free books for children. Dolly is the real deal. 😊
@@angieday5183 The park was failing and falling apart and about to be shut down ,Dolly stepped in fixed it up and brought in new rides etc and took it over.
Dolly has written so many songs over the years. Most of her songs are true stories from her life. I Will Always Love You is very famous for the tune but the words are true from her heart. When she started out, she worked with Porter Wagoner. There came a time when she wanted to go out on her own and he was very angry. She wrote I Will Always Love You as her last gift to him.
If anyone should be a millionaire it’s Dolly Parton. She deserves all her wealth and has demonstrably given back her wealth to those in need. Everyone loves Dolly ❤️
Yes I love she stands up to right wing conservatives especially in support of women, children and the LQBTQ community. She is a national treasure and patriot.
❤ Dolly is Beautiful on the inside and the outside. She is so loved and respected. She is also so funny and has the best laugh. Thank you for your reaction... ❤
Here is another great storytelling song she wrote. This live version is the best because she explains how the song came about. (cut and paste) Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You (Live) The one where she is wearing a dark blue sequenced dress.
She wrote the song on the back of two laundry tickets from Porter Wagner's rhinestone suits. I've heard her tell the story of how that happened on the tour bus one day.
It is wonderful to see that you both value basic human life. The song expresses so much love in a world that is truly lacking love and compassion for our fellow man. Thank you for showing us your heart.
Dolly is a sweetheart. When I was a kid, my family saw her in her early years at a local fairground. She was signing autographs near the stage after the show but we couldn't get near because my sister was in a wheelchair. She saw us watching and came running over to say "hi" to us.
This is a woman who has given away over a MILLION books to children all over the country. She has intentionally built her businesses in poor sections of Nashville to help provide jobs to who needed them most. Not bad for a little girl who grew up with no running water or electricity.
Very moving song about attitude toward life! You can see a pic of the actual coat if you search for "Does Dolly parton still have her coat of many colors?" Great reaction
Mannnn .. I blinked away tears to see you doing the same. :) .. Dolly was what we call "dirt poor" .. that usually refers to a home with a pounded clay/dirt floor
Again you had to go and make me cry. I remember ages ago when I was really young that my mother told me she had to make my siblings clothes because she did not have money.i came from a family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters I was the youngest. We weren't rich with money but rich with love and that was enough for us. Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
That is a true Lady, who knows and has never forgotten what is truly important. Family, Love and living a honest life, with a true Servant's heart. Bless you both. Peace, love and blessings to all. ✌🤗🙏
Pure talent with a heart of gold and a love for humanity and kindness for all! That's Dolly. What's not to love about that! Thanks for another great reaction!❤
This song always makes me cry. My mom told me my grandma made her a coat from scraps. They have both died now so every time I hear this song it reminds me of both of them and how much I miss them🥰
I have always loved Dolly,I grew up listening to her because she was one of my Moms favorite artists. I grew up poor and relate. My father died when I was seven and my mother raised six children all on her own. We had very little money and kids at school teased us that we were the poorest family in town. We went to school with patches all over our clothes but we were happy and couldn’t understand why so many people just couldn’t believe that we smiled so much. They didn’t know that we were loved by one of the Greatest Moms ever.
I was only 8 years old when this song came out. It had a huge impact on me even at that young age. I didn't grow up with a lot of money, but I was blessed with great parents who taught me about what is truly important. This song only drove home the lessons my parents taught me. Dolly is a treasure! Her love, her lyrics and her songs are truly amazing.
That was a common thing for poor families with kids that grew up in the Depression era. My dad''s mother would have to make him a pair of shoes to wear to school every year. During the summer months he just had to go barefoot after that pair wore out. They didn't have money to buy shoes. In fact, they didn't have money to buy anything...literally. They grew their own food, Did NOT have a car They lived on a small farm out in the piney woods. They were the typical rural poor family living in the deep, deep south
The Dolly Parton rabbit hole is very, very deep. You have been warned. "I will always love you", "9 to 5", "Love is like a butterfly", "Jolene" and "Here you come again" are a five off the top of my head which are worth a listen but they're only the tip of the iceberg.
This song tugs at your heart if you have any compassion what so ever in your soul and heart ! Thank you both for your compassionate reaction! You are wonderful people!! ❤!❤
I'm from Middle TN so we love Dolly. She is a great storyteller! I'm so happy she found success in many things she's done. Dolly has been married for almost 60 yrs. She is a true legend. Loved your reaction! ❤
Thank you so much for your beautiful reaction! It's truly a beautiful and heartwarming song. It helps one grow in gratitude, wisdom, and joy. The way you reacted shows that you two also have beautiful hearts.
I absolutely adore Dolly Parton. What an incredible woman. She would definitely be a contender for my top 5 dinner guests. How she manages to play guitar with long fingernails is beyond me, but she sure makes it work. There are too many great songs from Dolly to mention, but this is one of them. She is such a great storyteller and I just love her voice and style. Great reaction guys ♥
This is the most favorite song of Dolly. Because it's real. Please react to another real life story of Loretta Lynn. Also a famous country singer. Her song is...Coalminers Daughter. She grew up poor in Kentucky and rose to fame and fortunate but never forgot her roots.
To many Americans, including myself, Dolly is a national treasure. She has given so much to help others and she has such a pure spirit. There is a special place in heaven for her, I'm sure (although I hope it is a long time before she goes there).
So many people, now, have never KNOWN what being poor is....and, they don't appreciate what it means to HAVE things: no matter WHAT that MEANS - food, clothes, cash. People who have not "gone without" cannot appreciate what they HAVE and can't seem to VALUE what homemade items MEAN to people who HAVE EXPERIENCED "going without". To me: homemade gifts mean the WORLD...and, I think more people should listen to music like this. MAYBE it will OPEN their MINDS!! Thank You for listening to and ENJOYING this song!! HUGS, YA'LL!!!
Dolly Parton is worth 650 million dollars today, but I have read that she gives a lot to worthy causes. She has a wonderful sense of humor and carries herself with humility.
Dolly has an amazing life story to go with her wonderful attitude. Her Dad was a sharecropper and she was one of twelve. She began performing at 6 in church and began playing guitar at seven on a homemade guitar, and at 8 she got her first real one. She first got on the radio and television while she was still a child. Through her life, she’s spread the wealth. Her Dad didn’t get to learn to read growing up. Thinking of that, she started the imagination library for children to have a free book each month from birth until kindergarten. Her Dad was proud of her for everything she did but she said this was the thing that made him proudest. But as a born and raised Appalachian woman who also got her books, she’s extra special to me.
Dolly never forgot where she came from because she's still here, in Appalachia where she has put millions into the poorest region of the country and still makes personal appearances. She also has a free book club for kids who can't afford books, or really anyone who just wants to join.
Talk about a great Story teller, That's Dolly! she's wrote 100's of songs🎵 for herself and others, One of our great singer's and actresses many wonderful movies 😀 she's a GOAT one of my favorites, many Honors and Awards can't say enough! I heard that Dolly has written over 5,000 songs. I love when she writes about her home & the people there. Her song "Applejack" is about a older guy she became friends with & he taught her how to play the banjo. If you listen to the studio version, you will hear the real Applejack singing at the beginning of the song. They had a tape of him singing & put it in the song. Dolly can write some tearjerkers too. Get the tissues out if you haven't, listen to; "Down from Dover" "Me & little Andy" "The Bridge" Other graet songs are "The Seeker" "Joshua" "To Daddy" which was a hit for Emmylou Harris. "Mule skinners blues" didn't write this one, but sings great. Dolly has so many great songs. I love singer/songwriters & story songs. Dolly, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Donna Fargo & many other lady artist. If you want to hear 2 really happy feel good songs that will make you smile listen to Donna Fargo. "Happiest girl in the whole USA" "Funny Face" Both songs are about her & her husband, Stan who was her producer. Donna found out she has M S in the middle 70s. In the late 80s Donna wrote another one called "Me & You." When you know what they went through, it makes this song hit your heart more. As you can tell, Donna is my favorite singer. She writes a lot about her life like Dolly Parton & Loretta Lynn. I've got more songs l could tell you about, but its time for me to stop babbling 😂
Dolly is as real as it gets. We didn't have much when I was a kid either and the greatest things I had were the things my parents and grandparents made. Now my grandkids have almost everything they can imagine from the stores and none of it means much at all to them.
Her songs are real and from her heart. She did grow up poor her father was a sharecropper and did carpentry to make ends meet and Dolly's mother stayed at home with the kids. At Christmas the kids did without any gifts so her mom could finally get a wedding ring from her father. The kids didn't care they were so happy for their mother to get that ring. Dolly was one of 12 children and that's a lot of mouths to feed and they lived in a 2 room cabin. 8 of her brothers and sisters are actually still alive.
I just love you guys, you're so genuine in your reactions, true emotion coming through both of you. You know what they say "some people hear the music, and people that really feel it. You all definitely feel it. If this song doesn't bring a tear to your eye, your not human. I hope you two go down a Dolly Parton rabbit hole, I'll be there for every one, might I suggest her very first hit that made her famous "Jolene", you won't be disappointed.
She’s so generous. My favorite story about her giving is, how she donated some of the royalties she received from Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you “ to Whitney Houston’s hometown. And not to mention the money she donated to the Covid vaccine research.
Her philanthropy throughout her career is as legendary as her musical talent. For instance, early in the Covid pandemic, she donated $1 million to help fund vaccine research.

The most Beautiful heartfelt reaction to this song ❤

She bought an existing park but the rest of the story is spot on.
How amazing 😍

True story of her family of Tennessee. Many brothers and sisters. Very humble 😊.

Great! We'll do 👍💚
Dolly is a national treasure here in the US.
She is a global treasure here on this planet.
I can see 2 people on my TV screen right now at Dollywood!

I've heard it before, but I teared up too😢😊
Dolly is also one of the world's biggest philanthropists. She gives so much money and help to the poor and children.
Another two songs that are stoned cold classics from Dolly are “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You”. Great reaction.
She wrote the song on the back of two laundry tickets from Porter Wagner's rhinestone suits. I've heard her tell the story of how that happened on the tour bus one day.
