    metaspencer . . . Holy Cow...Wow! If you're not already a builder by trade, u oughta be! I've done several projects similar to this, and I was feeling your "pain" (overworked muscles and back) throughout the entire video. Especially the post hole digging. Kudos, my friend. Excellent work. You are an artist! :)

      Big thanks for that! After working as a builder I shifted to tree work during the pandemic (dang wood prices became too hard for me to keep up with on the bids). I have a new workshop in the works and a few other things ... take care buddy

    With wood prices being what they are currently, that's an expensive enclosure. Very nice work!!

      Yeah, prices have soared and it's become hard to source stuff ... not a great time for builders.

      @@metaspencer my grandma bought us a Alaskan mill for building our chicken coop, used it tons but we may still go and mill up a bunch of 2x4s for later use, the tree we cut down is poplar and its trash wood our 2x4s need to be dimensional not nominal lol

      @@metaspencer it is great... till your at the last few cuts on a log, and its on the ground, the chainsaw exhaust hits the ground with nowhere except your eyes to vent to, we were using a niosh paint respirator while milling lol

    You're definitely an inspiration man! I'm just in the tree work world but try to do some construction project for our own use and I really enjoy watching the videos. Just makes me want to quit overthinking things and just get to work.

    You are talented only thing i can see id do different is bury some block in the ground for the wood to sit on, may get premature rott from the ground

      Yeah I typically add some gravel or a bit of busted brick at the bottom of the hole ... never know what happens down there over time but it's gotta help :)

    My friend... that's why I bought a mini skid for fencing and tree work.....we ain't getting any younger 🤔🤔🤔.. post holes suck by hand.. especially one person.... your back must be made steel... nice work..and 2511 made another appearance...

    Fantastic build!! Watching for ideas to build our own, and so far this is my favorite design so far. The craftsmanship is phenomenal. Have you had any issues with critters getting in through your fencing? I like the look of this style the best.

      Thanks for checking it out and appreciating it! I've since moved away from the area where I built this one, so haven't seen it lately, but if you want 100% critter protection trench around the outside and burry construction cloth. It's invincible. Good luck!

    Would this be better with concrete anchoring the posts? Just wondering how long the posts will hold straight without it

      that depends on your ground. this was a rubble-filled hard clay soil but in softer soils you'll definitely want to concrete in your posts

    Rabbits and rats can get right through that. Hardware cloth installed on the outer perimeter, bent in an L shape with half the L buried will stop rodents in their tracks. I learned this the hard way. Seems rats absolutely LOVE green bean plants and will chew them down to the soil. 😔

    Why did you use 8ft for the posts?

      As I recall that soil was hard as a rock and I only got my holes 2'-3' down, so 8 footers worked for the height I was building. I wasn't going to buy 10s and no 6s were available.

      Ya know this build was right at the time when lumber prices when sky high, so I took a loss on the job -- can't remember the price but I know I vastly underbid it. Still, a fun one to do
