Sam, I really enjoy your unique perspective from having worked in a high end shop to now building out your new shop in your garage, as a hobby. Its nice for me to see that I dont need to do all the fancy joints, work with 8/4 hard maple, and spend 2k on tools for a shop project. Form and function. Staying tuned from Canonsburg.
Get a bucket and Dust Topper from Home Depot. It's an inexpensive and compact way to make a cyclone dust collector and it'll fit under the saw right next to the shop vac. The Dust Topper and bucket come to about $70, including tax. A heck of a difference to even the next one up which, I believe, is the Powertec setup at $87 NOT including tax. I'm still working on my shop setup but, with a new home that needed a lot of updating and redesigning, my time is split amongst many different jobs. I'll get to it, eventually, though, and I'm getting on of those adapters from Shop Nation, also, and then hooking it up to the second dedicated shop vac/Dust Topper setup I'll have under my 12" Ridgid. Same exact saw you have but, as you said, the bigger version so I assume you have the 10". I don't care what others say, I like it and it does the job accurately and quickly. Another tip: change the stock blade for a Diablo Fine Finish 60 tooth blade. Your cuts will be so smooth it'll practically eliminate the need to sand! And it's only $40 at HD.
When we moved into our house a number of years ago, the previous owner left an old long kitchen couter with cabinets in the barn. I cut out the section of the top where the sink was and made a shelf for the saw out of scraps. Boom! Miter station! For free!
Nice work as always, Sam!! 👍 I know it adds a ton of extra time to film the project while also doing said project! 😅 However, we appreciate you putting in the effort to make videos for all to enjoy!
Always stoked to see a new Sam video. You’re going to appreciate that you started simple and got up and running. Love the extra time you put in also to finish it. Just cause it’s simple doesn’t mean it can’t be *slightly above average*! Keep up the awesome builds man!
I am loving seeing you build out your own shop, giving me ideas how to do my own. Really appreciate you sharing the janky and problem solving - not editing it out. Making me feel better about when I am doing it twice (or more). Looking forward to seeing what you make next.
Nice job! I built a functional but ugly miter saw station this spring but in a barn. It works but I’m going to rebuild it to include 4x4 posts for legs so I can use leveling feet as the barn floor anything but level. I also want to add t-track and stop blocks with measuring tape. But I’ll be able to reuse 95 percent of the existing structure.
Great functional table man! All those UA-cam electricians should go troll someone else. Seriously you make good wholesome content man keep pushing and ignore the adult babies living in their parents basements!
Sam, it looks and works great! Don't keep beating yourself up saying it's not great: you're doing what works now, and there are a lot of people that want to see those videos. Keep it up!
Mine is simple just like this. I did put my router in right side and it works perfectly. Simple is good. I am like you, I just need it to work and function like I need it to. Happened upon your channel. Now I’m a new subscriber
Find free 2 drawer file cabinets. They are great hideaway cabinets. Really recommend sealing both sides of MDF if you use it in an unconditioned space.
Some time in the next month I'll be out in the shed making it be more efficient, so I'm gonna draw inspiration from this video and the outfeed table video. Keep up the excellent work, Sam!
A nice little bench top planer/jointer would be perfect just to square up 2x4s! I am picking one up this week to do just that... as well as neaten up pallet wood so I can start making table tops/shelves out of it.
I love your shop videos. As an amateur working out of my garage, your content is perfect for me. Having spent time in that other shop - I believe that you know what you need and how to make a very solid shape when you have more limited space and funds. I love those other guys too but I can’t justify a maple and walnut outfeed table :)
YAAAAY new video :D glad to see the upgrade in yer shop!! keep up the awesome work!! looks amazing!! im so glad to see that i am not the only one making temporary simple solutions to work out something better in the meantime
Hey, Sam just wanted to let you know i love your channel and can't wait to have me own shop some day hopefully sooner than later. ( hint to my Wife. ) miss you on Johns channel. imo you and Jordan made a better crew.
not sure about in your area but i get imported birch plywood from Indonesia and or Vietnam for $45 a sheet ay my local plywood dealer its the cheapest 3/4 ply i can find that's still good quality.
I remember there was some little feature of that saw you mentioned but never said what it was and in the comments you said you'd elaborate in the next video but you forgot lol
It looks a lot like mine. I don’t see the need in having a miter saw shrine made from hardwoods lol. I mean they look beautiful, but it seems like a waste to spend all that money on shop furniture that’s going to get paint and stain on it anyway.

Awesome, don't let perfection be the enemy of good. Also, great editing.

Snapped up the same saw after you posted. Thanks for the heads up. Might have to grab the dust collection attachment too.

You got me with the comment about all the electricians saying mean things. I love that, well done Sir.
Nice job!

Thanks, will do!
Looks good and adequate for the small shop. Keep up the good videos.
Always a good day when Sam uploads. 🎉
Keep up the good work Sam! Small workshops for the win, I’ll reach out to you and send you some of my MightyBitClips for your impact/drill!
Shoot me a DM on IG or an email

Great station. Now let’s see that unicycle in motion😀

The track saw I bought when I started redoing my camper was hands down a great investment. I can see a lot of future use for it.
I’ve got the Milwaukee m18 track saw on loan from a friend. It’s really nice
Great video Sam the shop is looking great
Nice job Sam balancing finances and performance! like your common sense approach.
Awesome video as always. It is always great to see you post a project!
Thank you! Cheers!
If it works it doesn't have to be a super beauty.... it's for working ;) and a lick of paint does wonders
Keep the videos coming bro can't wait to see more ❤
Looks great. It just needs to function! Well done!
your videos deserve more views!!!
Thanks for the support!
That's the way mine started!!!
Simple and effective ... What more does one need? Nice job Sam.

nice job as always i need to find a way still to improve dust collection on my miter saw and table saw as both are not good at all

Awesome! Thank you! Best of luck on your shop!!
My setup looks similar and it works for me, nice job!
An appearance by Sam Greene in Sam Greene’s video! Hope you’re well, buddy!
You are the man Sam I love your content
Was bummed when you guys left john. Hope you guys are still friends, you guys should do a crossover episode.
When I do tops I do poly with car wax on it and wow slick. But love the station
Car wax is a great idea!
@SamGreenMaker sometimes I do 3 coats of poly. But don't use turtle wax can turn it green. Lol lesson learned from me. Lol
Store bought lumber leading to janky outcomes is a consistent theme to my projects.
😂 janky projects anonymous here we come
get yourself some sort of cyclone dust separator. I use a dust bag in my vac, but also a cyclone. it just helps prolong the vac/filter
Good idea. Going to look into this!
👌👍👍

I can try the import stuff form a local plywood distributor. Just a pain to go get it from them
@@SamGreenMaker yea its a pain to go to them here as well but worth it for the cheaper plywood and lumber
I remember there was some little feature of that saw you mentioned but never said what it was and in the comments you said you'd elaborate in the next video but you forgot lol
Look at Sam sporten the steel toed croc's.
My dream is to design a shop shoes that are a croc like slip on shoe that isn’t dangerous af to work in
Plans for anvil under miter saw station??
I’d like to set up a little black smith area. I need to mount it on a stump or something. It’s in rough shape but i got it for free.
I have the same miter saw, and I've been on the fence about the Shop Nation dust collector adapter. How well does it work?
Not used it a ton but so far it’s been great
@@SamGreenMaker Cool, thanks so much.
It looks a lot like mine. I don’t see the need in having a miter saw shrine made from hardwoods lol. I mean they look beautiful, but it seems like a waste to spend all that money on shop furniture that’s going to get paint and stain on it anyway.
I wish you could still get that saw.... Homedepot screwed up.
I wonder if a new version is coming to replace it
A low score on the wonky scale is acceptable, when it starts to be janky it’s time to rethink things.
homedepot sells a vac call a bucket head 25$ goes on a 5 gallon bucket cheap dust collector
@5:25
?Is that an ANVIL?
