From someone in the aviation industry, this story is a joke. Go arounds happen every day. If the first plane is not completely clear of the runway, this is exactly what is supposed to happen.
I literally was expecting to hear something so much more dramatic when I clicked on this. As a former flight crew member of many years myself I can honestly say this was not news worthy in the slightest and one of the dumbest things I have ever seen reported on. The climb rate??? Seriously??? Thats pretty standard. Plane still on the runway??? God forbid. Even though it happens many times a day every single day. Somebody from the news department was on that plane that has very little experience flying. It was laughable how they all talked about this like it was a serious matter.
OH MY GOOOOD, 2000 FEET IN UNDER A MINUTE!! This is why reporters are laughed at. 2000 ft/min climb rates are NORMAL and it’s not some big deal like she made it. Leave it up to Spirit pilots to take their time getting off the runway!!
What's important now is to review air traffic protocols, and make sure controllers have adequate diversity, equity, and inclusion training so that everyone feels safe. Expecting the runway to be clear of other aircraft is an expression of privilege. Sometimes we need to go around to make everyone feel included.
This is literally one of the dumbest news stories I have ever seen in my life. As a former flight crew member I can tell you this is nowhere near as rare as you would think but also not even close to dangerous. Go arounds occur often. They knew the plane was on the ground and still on the runway. The pilots and tower gave them time to exit the runway and when they didn’t get off in time they initiated the go around. As for the flight attendants who allegedly said they were “worried” then this was obviously their first week on the job and they should find a new line of work of that worried them. I cannot even begin to estimate the number of go arounds I have done in my career. And yet all those years only one of them was for an emergency situation. This particular story was not only not an emergency but was also not even remotely news worthy. How friggin stupid.
@@joshuajuarez3471 why do you automatically blame the tower? Do you have all the facts? As a former flight crew member of many years I can tell you a few things about this. Number one, this is extremely common, no danger, and not even slightly news worthy. I cannot even begin to try to estimate how many missed approaches and go arounds I have been a part of in my career. Secondly, the tower most likely was not at fault. What likely happened was Spirit stayed on the runway too long and as is common practice they gave them as much time as they could to exit the runway before initiating the missed approach procedures. The likely culprit of the missed approach was Spirit. Not tower. Thats usually how that works. Nothing about this story was unusual, dangerous, or news worthy. It happens many times a day every single day all across the world. This being on the news was incredibly stupid.
@@joshuajuarez3471 yes but they can’t just pick up a plane off the runway and put him on the ramp. Its the pilots job to quickly exit the runway. Planes are stacked behind and sequenced to land. If they don’t get off the runway in time the incoming pilot will take the plane as close as he can and if the plane in front is still on the runway then either he will commence the missed approach procedure or the tower will tell him to go around. Thats standard procedure and happens all the time. Once in a blue moon its a tower mistake but its usually because of a slow plane that has just landed and took too long to exit the runway or a plane that was cleared to takeoff and took too long to start their roll. You have no information here at all to suggest the tower did anything wrong. Its not like they have a button in the tower that makes an airplane get off the runway when they are supposed to.

If a go around is the worst thing that happens on a Frontier flight then it’s a great day!
How many go arounds occur on a given day in the US? 100 , 200? My gosh.
oh the humanity
