Surprisingly Somi has done so much at her young age:
• She was in a survival show called Sixteen to debut in a group that we now know as Twice
• She was in another survival show called Produce 101 and she won first place out of 101 girls so she debuted (group called I.O.I check them out) and that group was really big (Queen Chungha was also apart of that group)
• She also debuted in another group called The Unnies, although the group was for a variety show it was really amazing and they had to work hard (They worked with JYP and he doesn’t play)
• Now She has finally made her solo debut after 3 years @ the age of 18 (internationally) & 19 (Korean age)
They worked with Kim Hyung Suk, JYP was in the 1st season.

Somi was in JYP for the longest time. She was in a JYP survival program with the members of Twice but she was eliminated and couldn’t debut in Twice. Then she took part in another survival program Mnet produce 101 while still a trainee in JYP and came first and the center of the group I.O.I together with Chungha. The group disbanded after a yr or so. Then She also debuted in a project girl group called Unnies (don’t know what happened to the group). She was a trainee again and almost a member of ITZY but suddenly left JYP last year and joined the Black Label which is a small label under YG and debuted as a solo. Yeah Somi was all over the place but she has a lot of experience and had a successful debut

Somi was a member of I.O.I which was formed on the first season a show called “Produce 101”. Chungha was also a member of I.O.I which was made by the top 11 voted girls. (Also the group IZ*ONE was made on the 3rd season of this show and WANNAONE was made during the 2nd season).
Somi also used to be a JYP trainee and was on the show “Sixteen” which made the group TWICE (she was actually voted to be in TWICE but JYP was like nah ur too young and put Momo in the group instead 😂)
Somi has been around since she was 14 (I’m pretty sure) but just recently made her debut with YG’s Black Label. She’s hella popular in Korea and even though it took YEARS for this girl to debut everyone was very proud and excited for her once she eventually did with this song

SOMI is a Korean-Canadian who was born in 2001. She was in JYP (where TWICE, DAY6, GOT7, etc.) since she was a baby. She was in a survival program that created TWICE called SIXTEEN but she was eliminated. Then, she went back to be a trainee.
And few years later, she joined another survival program called PRODUCE 101 that created I.O.I which is her beginning path to be successful. She got rank 1 and debuted as I.O.I (Chungha was there too). But, sadly I.O.I was made for only 11 months, cmiiw.
Then, after their disbanded, the other members of I.O.I were starting to debut with their bandmate one by one. But, the fans were still looking for JYP new girlgroup and hoping SOMI will be there. But, as soon as we wait for it, SOMI left JYP. Then, a few months later ITZY debuted (guess maybe she wasn't part of ITZY? she can't wait any longer. she is ready to debut!)
Finally, after leaving JYP, SOMI signed with a new agency called THE BLACKLABEL (YG sub label) then debuted solo with this incredible song. I'm happy that she's already debut and shine like the other members of I.O.I 💓

Girl has been thru a lot nearly debuting in twice, being in 3 temporary groups (ioi, the unnies, girls next door) nearly debuting in itzy and now finally she can show the world what she is capable of in a long term fashion. Birthday is not everyone's cup of tea (I personally love it) but so many of us are rooting for her and she's still young with lots of room to grow.

This song is cool bc it her showing she's independent and grown up! She was in the running for JYP's girl group now called TWICE which is a super group in kpop now and she went on another survival show called Produce 101 and got 1st place and was the center of the group called I.O.I but the group didn't do very well in the eyes of kpop and disbanded very early and she disappeared for like 2 years and came back with this and left her old company, JYP, and joined The Black Label which is part of YG Entertainment! I'm sad she didn't stay with JYP because she was going to be in ITZY but she wanted to be a solo artist and JYP wasn't doing it for her so she left but i'm glad she took charge of her life. She then went on to join produce 101 season 1 a year later in 2016. Produce 101 is a show that creates temporary groups. She ranked #1 and became a member of ioi along with 10 other girls (Chungha was also apart of the group). The group had huge success but disbanded after like 7 months because of their contract. She was the only one that didn't join a group or debuted solo after the group disbanded. She did a bunch of cfs and guest appearances throughout 2017. She did a duet with Eric Nam called you, who? and with Jun.K called November to February. She was also apart of 2 temporary groups (unnies and girls next door) during 2017 to support the shows she was on. She left her old company in mid 2018 and joined the Black label to debut as a soloist. Somi was in IOI which was a group created through a Korean Music Reality Competition called Produce 101 to make it Simple! The competition chose 12 top contestants from a group consisting of Kpop girl trainees, members of existing and past girl Kpop groups
Somi won the competition as top finalist! Somi and the other 11 finalist became the group IOI, the group was not supposed to be permanent, the group was supposed to promote and perform together for a specific period of time! So IOI did not disband it ran its course! Members of IOI who were previously or currently part of another group went back to it! Somi went back to JYP awaiting her turn to debut with a group!

Somi was part of a couple of survival shows. She was in the one where TWICE was formed buy was eliminated. And ten was in Produce 101 where the girl group I.O.I. was formed, she was in it. It was set from the begining that it was gonna be a group for only 1 year. She was the highest ranked for that show, which made her te center for all of the songs ioi released. When it was disbanded, she was here and there in variety shows and even released another single with other artists as a part of a variety show called Unnies.
She's super cute and fun and dorky and is very loved by the public. So after many years, we are happy that she finally debuted, Birthday was her debut. 🥰

First, she joined a reality TV show called Sixteen which later on formed the girl group TWICE. then after that, she joined Produce 101, a reality TV show which allows trainees from different management agencies undergo training and be part of a successful kpop girl group. After Produce 101, she became part of (IOI) which later a year disbanded. She became active as a solo artist under JYP enter. for quite sometime doing CFs, hosting projects and guestings. Until 2018 she transferred to YG entertainment's BLACKLABDL same agency that handles BLACKPINK. Birthday is her first solo debut under BLACKLABEL.

SOMI first appeared on TV when she was 14 years old, she was on a survival show called "Sixteen" and the winners of that reality show became TWICE. So yes, SOMI was almost a member of TWICE (she was on the final but the CEO of the agency, JYP Entertainment, didn't picked her because she was too young).
Later that year (2015) SOMI went to another survival program called "PRODUCE101" (the first season) and she competed with other 100 trainees to become "I.O.I" a group that was meant to last only 10 months. She was the most voted girl on the program, she was the #1.
There were 11 members on that group, CHUNGHA was one of them. They promoted from may/2016 until february/2017. They were super close and most of them didn't wanted to disband but it was part of the contract. Then each of the members returned to their agencies and their original groups (Gugudan, PRISTIN, DIA, WJSN and Weki Meki).
SOMI was alone, her agency (JYP Entertainment) wasn't planning to debut a girlgroup in 2017, so that year she did very few things even though she was extremely popular in Korea.
Then on september/2018 suddenly she terminated her contract with JYP Entertainment, even thought they she was confirmed to be one of the members of the new girlgroup to debut in 2019 (ITZY). SOMI said she didn't feel comfortable in JYP Entertainment and their music style, so she signed a contract with THE BLACK LABEL that is kinda a sub-agency of YG Entertainment, the same label of BLACKPINK.
Finally, SOMI debuted this year with her song "birthday". It has been a long journey and we, the fans, are so proud of her. Also, I.O.I is making a reunion/comeback on december and there is a chance SOMI will be promoting with them. But already 9 of them are confirmed to be participating in that album. Let's hope she can promote with her sisters ^ ^

So Somi debuted first on produce x 101 on I.O.I with Chung Ha, she almost debuted with Twice, then debuted with UNNIES (With minzy from 2en1 It was a variety show with other Korean singers/comedians all girls). Some said she was about to debut with Itzy, she left JYP and signed with blacklabel (sub-agency of YG, company of Zion T and more). She has another song called Outta my head which is amazing and writted by her as well! Oh and she's a 2001 girl, 19 is her korean age! She is canadian-korean I think
