“You haven’t taught until they’ve learned.”
Very well said.
I like how he addresses every possible mistake someone might make with regards to form and technique.
Exactly, my power clean went up 15lbs immediately after watching this
You can tell he’s an amazing coach/trainer
It’s a beautiful thing to see a true specialist at work.
Good tips for beginners, not actual oly lifting, the emphasis should be in speed and technique not ques
I wouldn't call him a true specialist. He knows enough to go over the basics with highschoolers. He's not an Olympic weightlifting coach.
@@rylandbraton1460 what do you call when you want to coach speed and technique? I will give you a hint mate… its called cues 🤷♂️🤦♂️🤣 how do you coach speed and technique? By giving what? Thats right.. cues🤫
@@tjcogger1974 This isn't for the purpose of just weightlifting, its weightlifting for athletics, mobility and power...not just standing around admiring your muscles in the mirror...
@@adambarlow81 wait... Do you think Olympic weightlifting and bodybuilding are somehow related? Hahah.
I have watched a lot of videos on proper technique for the clean. This is far and away the best one. This guy is an awesome trainer; I wish I could train under him.
Adam knows his stuff for sure!
What an great teacher. He’s also crazy strong, throwing that weight around like it’s nothing.
He’s just casually teaching with a loaded bar. 😅🤯
He probably cleans 120kg😂 I don't think 40kg might bother him
I am so thankful for my athletics coach he’s teaching us all of this and we’re in 7th grade
Best clean progression explanation I have ever seen.
Supa
The best coaches/teachers are the ones who make you understand in very simple terms because it’s actually often very simple. Amazing instructions. Thank you!
That took forever simple?
That’s a crazy high school weight room
Nicholas Bowen right 😂
Lilly Ghoul nope. It’s a high school. Read the description
It’s not a private school. It is a public school about 35 minutes from my house
@PhyZeik Nope. Its a public school. I went there.
Dorman University
I have no doubt this guy was an NCO in the military at some point in his life. Awesome video!!!
I thought this sounded like a good way to teach a recruit .... nothing wrong with clean and simple
He definitely has that cadence good NCOs have.
No that’s called college football
Jesse bruh, he means at one point in his life.
High and tight should tell everything about him..🤣🤣🤣 the type of dude wont release his guys until 1800..🤣🤣
This demonstration is excellent, Coach Smotherman. I received like a year of training things to work on in 13 minutes.
I am going to watch this just before I go to gym. This is some really good breakdown of the clean.
I'm starting to incorporate this again and there's no better place to learn. Excellent detail oriented tutorial. From basic to advanced
Great video. I love the prep work that you put into young athletes. This will pave how they continue to train for their entire career. Great start to their training to help them maximize their potential.
You are exactly right!
Lol. My highschool weight room had one squat rack, some rusty dumbbells, and a leg press machine.
@@fartsniffer1195 no it isn’t that is the strength coach at a highschool
@@c9sa I mean there are highschools in Clemson
@@fartsniffer1195 this is a high schoo
This is such a brilliant video 👏 thank you for talking about how to fix flexibility issues, I've been struggling with my wrists but had no idea to stretch then
This guy is an amazing coach, not to mention athlete - I would be out of breath 3 min in.

Focus on form and safety, absolutely critical with young athletes.
the stretch tips were great.. I need to do these . thanks
This guy is the embodiment of professionalism
Awesome teacher.
I am very impressed how he doesnt even stop talking to take a breath. Power movements are not easy. Very good job teaching!
A wonderful piece of art in teaching. Love it ❤

I’m a sprinter at college and I’ve struggled with this a lot as the demos we have had haven’t been great but this 1 vid really helped 👍🏼👍🏼
This is the best video for doing a power clean for athletes I've ever seen on youtube.
Excellent breakdown
Excellent coach!
Excellent instruction. Thank you
I LOVE THE clean & jerk!
Wow! Very thorough, yet succinct. I am going to incorporate this tomorrow. I have been doing shotty clean and jerks for too long. Time to tighten my form and work on power cleans.
Awesome teacher!

WOW. Coach thanks. This helps me tremendously!!!
South Carolina high schools have created some top notch training facilities. I got to see the facility at TL Hanna High school, and it was insane.
Very good content and no ads.
Perfect tutorial.
Great Job Explaining. It has really helped me.Thanks
Thank you!!!! I’m a cf coach in training. I need to hear this in a 3rd person perspective. Thank you!!
Beautiful explanation ❤️
Awesome thanks!
Great coach!!!
Awesome teacher. Breaks down the details, and even goes into flexibility/mobility foundations.
This helps so much! Makes me really value the coaches I've had in my career
Great video. This guy farms champions.
I've been training this lift for many months and still have not been able to get it. I have wrist and lat mobility issues and I have a hard time catching. Thank you so much for this video. It's understandable and reproducible.
Very thorough
What a great teacher 👍👍💪
Thank you
This is really helpful
So useful! Thanks so much !
I appreciate you. Thank you for being you man and giving us great tips.
This is some world -class coaching.

Very thorough!
Exceptional instructor
Nice video very informative
Great Video. Thank you!
you are welcome!
great video
veramente un grande video, complimenti ottimo lavoro
this video is fantastic.
Great instruction coach!
Brilliant!!!!!!
good coach.
Ive never seen anyone throw around a bar with 2 plates so casually. Great video.
Thank you, sir !
I may not give up on cleans after all. I am unable to catch or front squat in the power position. I can only do them if I'm "standing tall". This sheds some light on my issue. Thank you.
Jamoke Anderson work on it at a lower weight or with the bar as a warmup and get warm with the movement before going heavier
@@sethmilesss I have been doing more core work since then and am doing much better.
Awesome!
This guy... 100 pound bar, not out of breath, talking clearly. Monster
135lbs
20kg + 20kg + 15kg bar = 55kg..
0:19 Oh shit he stepped over the bar. Regardless...excellent instruction on the progressions. When it comes to cleans, there are do's and don'ts and thankfully had one coach in my life instruct me on these principles. Thanks for posting!
This isn't in Russia.. :P
Great efforts and nice demonstration. I struggle all the time with the part of lifting the bar by hips. I hope you have a good clue how to make it easier so that I can increase bb weight
Thank you
As an Ohio State fan now I understand why we couldn’t beat Clemson all those years. This guy is amazing.
Still using this in 2023. The mobility aspect of that front rack can't be emphasized enough. The TRX, bands , T-Spine, and floor drills for wrist mobility are what made the catch safe for my lower arms as loads exceeded bodyweight.
Awesome
