Wish there were a pluggin for solid tools. The Sketchup built in tools can only be used for the simplest shapes and anything modelled as part of a larger model cannot be shaped using the built in tool.
2:36 says i can click on the cutting object first, then click the fences one at a time. But that doesnt work with 2024. I have to click on the tool between every cut.
Possibly you had the full install of sketchup and your 1 month trial ran out and it reverted to the make version? That (free) version doesn't include solid tools (layers, dynamic-objects & others).
Frstly while you make making group any object make sure you triple click so it will get selected then make group which becomes solid group .. How do you get to know whether it is solid group or just group click on group n go to entity info and check there ...
Best bet is to head over to our Forum (forums.sketchup.com) and post a copy of your file... it is very difficult to trouble shoot modeling issues on UA-cam comments.

I grouped 2 solids in a group and it doesn't work. You mentioned in this video at 1:05 that it would. 🤔 What am I doing wrong?

I have the solid tools in my 2017 make, granted I get the "locked or non solid Object" error but the tools are there and clickable.

this doesn't work. i am 100 sure that both my objects it a solid but the program keeps on saying it's not a solid... what to do?

@@SketchUp it was that, they can't be components, instead the part needs to be as groups.
