This exercise is pure genius....and VERY FUN actually. On Day 3 doing this exercise already least can do one octave of the set, compared to day one where I couldn't at all

Thank you Ronja for this exercise. My voice cracks big time when going from chest to head and head to chest. I just thought it was natural and there was nothing to do about it. As an alto, the female exercise starts and stays in my head voice, no worries there.😅 So I decided to try the male exercise, and that range is where my voice cracks. I'm telling you, this is quite a difficult thing for me to achieve, but I'll keep practicing. I feel that even though my tongue is up against my soft palate, the airway to my nose doesn't open up while singing all the low notes that are in my chest voice range, so as I slide up the register, there's one big crack or two small ones.😂 I don't have to strain to reach those notes. I have been successful a few times, and I concentrate on the feeling each time I sing, regardless as to whether or not I am successful, in hopes that I can master the feeling when successful. The trouble is, the successful feeling and the unsuccessful feeling are almost the same. (Doh!) Any tips?

It went okay, I believe I need to control more of my airflow because as I am struggling towards the end while in head voice I'm running out of air. Great exercise will add this to my Daily routine for voice my developing journey. Thank you! :>

Hello Ronia! I am professional singer and vocal teacher myself. This is the first excercise ever which completely put away the larynx position change when sliding from chest voice to head voice myself (I am classical singer retrained for pop singer, I have to train mix all the time...). It's phenomenal excercise, thank you. However, it is straining my voice/neck a bit, is there any hack to prevent it? (I barely ever have strained voice/neck from singing).. Thank you!

Hi Verunkator, it’s always so great meeting fellow voice teachers! thanks for your question. In terms of strain a few trouble shoots I’d do would be to check that you’re lowering your jaw as you go higher and and not tilting your head backward as you go higher as well. It could also be that you are ‘pushing’ your sound instead of engaging the resonance fully as you go higher. A hack you could try is feeling for when the strain occurs by placing your thumb under your chin. I made a video on that called “1 Tip to Detect Vocal Strain”. I hope it helps 😊

As you teach the position of the tongue. I have just realized I have a very high palate. My tongue will not touch the soft palate and the back of my teeth at the same time.

Thank you, but I have a short breath in the middle of making a sound and I stop. What's the solution? I'd really appreciate your answer.

I have a question about the tongue position at the end of the sound. Does the tongue always touch the palate or it moves for the high note? Thank you
