- In this episode I go over my first impressions of the new Michelin Road 6 on my 2021 Yamaha MT 09. So far they have been great and feel way different then the battle ax S22's that come stock on the Yamaha MT09.

People always compare their new tires to the old ones they just replaced. Thing is, for most people, by the time those S22s are due for a replacement, they'll have roughly the cross section of a stop sign. Completely squared off. Which of course ruins the handling and makes any comparison to a brand new tire kind of apples to oranges.
The good thing about sport touring tires like the Road 6 is that they'll keep handling well for way longer, a tire like the S22 really only makes sense if you're doing multiple track days a month or if you happen to live on mulholland drive.
Hands down best review I have seen on the Michelin Road 6. I purchased my Road 6 back in July and have already logged 2300+ miles on my 2015 Yamaha FJ-09. Love luv ❤️ these tires.💯Subbed to your channel🤙
Awesome! Thank you for letting me know. I really try hard to be super honest and transparent. Why? Because I’m a regular guy actually a big kid. So that means a lot to me. Thank you for the Sub as well!
These tires are awesome! Hands down. Thank you for watching the Channel. Ride safe 🙏
1000% worth it! love mine set on my Mt09 street rally
Like I said before, those Michelin tires feel better and more stable on the turns. Granted I have the power 5 tires with a little softer compound and love them but if I don’t trade my mt 09 for the mt 10 next tires are definitely going to be the road 6. Stay safe.
I have road 5s on my rear and pirelli rosso diablos on my front my rear rosso wore down to the wires in about 1500 miles my 5s are starting to crack almost down to the wire after about 5k or so. My next rear will be the road 6 sometimes i hate having a liter bike i eat through rears so fast but these michelin tires are badass
2021 MT09SP. I changed my S22’s at 2500 miles with probably 2 or 3 hundred miles left in them (was going on a long trip). S22’s were great but I switched to the road6 and really didn’t feel any less confidence in them. It’s always hard to compare tires as you’re always changing from worn, flat tyres to new so it’s not really a fair comparison. Wear is easy to compare though, 3000 miles on them now and plenty left. The road 6 are expensive tyres but worth it.
Very true! I felt just as confident as well
Thank you for watching the Channel and the great feedback 🙏
I have the road 5’s on another bike and they have given me more mileage than any other tire, so I opted for the road 6 on my zx10. It’s a great tire, does everything I need and even hooks at the drag strip.
Nice! Great feedback my dude ❤️ love ya bro!
Great review ❤
Great review bro💯🤙🏽
I’m glad it was useful to you. Means a lot 🙏 ride safe and thank you for watching the channel.
Thnx for the info. Need to replace back and sounds like found a winner
I had S22's on my 2017 mt09 and they gave me so much confident. Just ordered a 2022 mt09 today and can not wait to get it
Nice!!!! You will love it 🙌 ride safe!
Have Road 5s on my SV650, they’ve lasted 17000km so far. They’ll go another couple of 1000km yet. Definitely going for the Road 6 when I replace them.
Awesome review bro. I saw you near the boat ramp where the road is closed. That was me on a motorbike lol I was going to say hi but I thought thats not you. I am still waiting on the dealer until the 2022 blue mt09 would arrive. They offered me a new mt10 but I decided I will wait for the mt09. I have so many parts for it already lol Also will order these tires.
Awwwww man!!!! I was like cool bike. I love bikes :) next time say hello! Would have been cool to meet you! Where was the new MT10? I would like to see one in person.
@@yamayari8351 will do next time :) It was in Orlando Yamaha on e colonial dr. They just had 1 in stock about 2 weeks ago. Might have more now.
@@kasimov1994 thank you 🙏
I recently change to road 6 had 1200km mileage so far with it. Is amazing in the dry and also in the wet. Especially where im living which rains alot!
That’s great to hear! Confirming my impressions, so feels good to know I’m not the only one. Where do you live?
I'm so sold! Buying a low mile 2020 mt10 and will need tires in a year or so. These will be the one's. I also live in Florida. Lot's of highway riding to get to places(twisty roads:)
Ive got a 23 Mt09 with just under 2100 on it and i got wires showing on the rear. Same deal as you with the S22s flat spot in the middle.
Great review man, thanks! I’m gonna pick these up for my ‘21 MT 09 SP also. How about your tyre pressure for your weight, you dialed them in?
Thank you 🙏 I appreciate you watching the channel. To answer your question I’m running 38 in rear, 36 In the front. I got a bad back. So I like the back stiff but not to stiff. I’m pushing 215 pounds. Any suggestions?
@@yamayari8351 I enjoyed many of your MT 09 videos, they helped me alot so thank you also 😊👍 Sorry to hear about your back buddy, some yoga would definitely help you though. Regarding suggestions, I’d highly recommend watching this video: ua-cam.com/video/XaIuWKfnGEI/v-deo.html 🏍
@@BeardOvBorgia thank you 🙏 I’ve had herniated disks for a few years and it’s getting worse! I’ll try the video hopefully this week. They all say yoga will help. Let’s see 🙏 thank you for the advice ❤️
I have road 5 front and road 6 rear. Couldn’t find 200 rear so I opt for 190/55. I love the deep channel sipes but have yet to test them in the rain. Just hoping these will last cause they are expensive but they are predictably stable in the dry.
Just got my new road 6 shoes for Suzi. I’m excited to take her out!
They are sweet!
The cowling/headlight reminds me of the AI bikes in Terminator Genisys.
Lol very true!
Looks like we got a Deltona guy here 😂
Hi, not about tyres, but what pre load and rebound do you run your shock at (and anyone else on here if you want)?
I keep messing with mine but can't quite get a sweet spot.
Huggy to be honest I haven’t even tried messing with it. I keep wanting to make an appointment with somebody that can truly dial me in by height and weight. But I haven’t had the opportunity.
what tire pressure can you recommend using road 6
Can’t seem to find a bad review about these tyres. How many miles did you manage to get out of your S22’s?
I replaced them around 4,800 but really needed to be replaced around 4,000. But I was trying to stretch them out lol
What was the mileage you got on the Battle Ax S22s before you switched to the Road 6s?
Less than 4500 I believe.
How many miles do you have on them now?
Mi mt09 '14 came with metzler roadtec 01. Now i need a New set and was looking for the bridgestone bt S22 because i have them on my '93 fireblade also. But i heard a lot good things about the road 6 tire so i have a dilemma right now. Road 6 or bt s22. I am sportive driver next year two track days are planned so i want good grip. What would be your advise? (I hate driving in rain so 9 of 10 good weather driver haha)
Sounds like the S22’s would be better for you then. They are definitely a more stickier tire for more aggressive riders. Just expect around 4,000 miles a set. Track weekend a set lol ride safe!
@@yamayari8351 thanks. Yeah i know they wear fast. Thats no problem. Bike needs to feel comfortable for me when doing knee downs. (Also on public roads). Metzler i have now did not feel that comfortable, took a time to get them warm also.. thats why i also think about the New road 6 Tire. Read that they also have a shorter warm up time.
@@at0ny that they do, they feel great quick! I personally like the Road 6 better, but I’m more of a cruiser/ commuter.
Try the Pilot Power TC2's from michelin, very sticky and last longer than s22
@@ljoelmchanley3676 Just bought the S22 already.
What tire size did you get for front and back?
Rear is 180/55/17 and the front is 120/70/17
On Speed Triple 18000 miles?😮 Mine Road 5 with with pasager and 90% touring (with corect tyre pressure 2.8 bar on rear) last only 13.000 km.
I put a pair of these on my 2018 mt09. I think the rear sidestepped on me a couple of times.
Really? That’s wild. They say the first 100 miles to ride relaxed so they break in properly. But I didn’t, but most my roads are straight. Thank you for the post and for watching.
What brake pads do you have?
I always use OEM.
I know this is an old video, but are u still using road6 an what is the difference between road 6 and road 6GT?
The GT are for heavier bikes. Like a Busa, K14 or like a Suzuki blvd. An the rubber is a little more harder. From what I’ve read.
Aha, and there it is 👍🏻
Told you lol hope it helped 🙏
@@yamayari8351 it does. Will be my next ones on the MT-09. Have about 6.000 KMs (about 3.750 miles) on the S22’s now
@@yamayari8351 so thanks for you impression!
@@macevert are the getting flat spots?
@@yamayari8351 unfortunately yes. Rear only though
1:33 you don't even reach the half of the possible lean angle.. and you are supposed to reviw tires?😅
Nah go get some pilot power sports
Honestly that’s what I think I’m going to put on my Yamaha R1. For the more festive rides lol thank you for watching 🙏 and the great feed back.
@@yamayari8351 np I wouldnt ride with anything less if u going for speed and cornering
I've been running Power 5 for 3 seasons now, and they are my favorite tires, but I'm thinking about getting Road 6 due to occasional wheelies.
Everyting good, but the editing is annoying man.
