I still have yet to find out why people think calling Volcas "toys" is an insult. Like, they cost as much as a toy, they look like a toy, but you can get such an amazing, non-toy results out of them, that it's impressive. Unless it's about this irrational fear of playfulness i've noticed among adults my age.
@@April480p I think of how the big rock bands had the walls of fake Marshall stacks just to give the illusion of the ‘wall of sound’. All instruments are noise makers. I do not care what people use. If it sounds good or intriguing, cost means nothing to me.
I have one Korg Volca along with the Korg NTS-1 and the Korg SQ1. I decided long ago to make it a goal to buy up most if not all of the Volcas as I can afford them. The NTS-1 has to be one of the best value pieces of gear I've ever bought. So much so that I want a 2nd one for sure. I would even consider a 3rd. An extra SQ1 or two would also come in very handy.
@@AnthonyGoodleyI have 3 volcas and the NTS-1 and I definitely rate them. Although having made music with them for a few years I think I would prefer one larger Synth that makes a larger variety of sounds. Depends how you make music though..... I am mostly sitting next to my laptop and recording one patch at a time, some more skillful people jam with several instruments at once.
@@maximejeanmusique I haven’t heard anything yet about a Keys2, just wishful thinking. Seriously considering getting an FM2, whenever it becomes available in Canada.
I've been a guitarist for 25 years and I just purchased my first synth (Volca Keys). I was still a bit hesitant about the whole thing. But this convinced me: Fuck it, from now on I'm gonna lean hard into my midlife crisis and become a synth guy 😂
Giorgio Meroder says it best in the Daft Punk track Giorgio by Meroder. You can play however you like, there are no rules to dictate _how_ you should record.

@@maximejeanmusique I think the same way. Just start by getting the very best out of what you have got. I'd have to sell my house to buy a CS80. I might have to wait for the Behringer clone.
Amazing music. I wonder about the process if I want to try something similar. Did you record the tracks one by one in Logic? Or did you use a sequencer? I don't know what is the best way to "play" 3/4 synths at once.
In this case I recorded every synth separately so I can clean every track with an EQ and give it the proper effect (Delay on the FM, reverb on the Keys, Saturation on the Bass…). In some other cases I just recorded the whole together, but I definitely wouldn’t do that anymore.
Sure, the best thing is to have a good idea of what you want before you record it and what instruments you need. In this case it was a cover so it was pretty obvious
What does The Volca FM synth provide that the keys does not. I have keys but not fm…so trying to understand the soundscape it provides. This was extremely enjoyable.
Thanks! The Volca Keys track is doubled and phased by another take to give it more depth. The volca FM is also doubled with a real piano and there is some violins hidden here and there to give a cinematic feel and a bit of high ends. The rest is mixing I guess.
Two leds strips (orange/blue) and one key light above with a translucid recipient with water under it. Wasn’t easy to play and manage the light at the same time tho
Amazing work.
A lesson for those guys who think Volcas are toys.
Yes! Anything can sound good with a proper mix and mastering 🙏

Blade Runner 2049 is on my top 5 best movie scores of all time alongside the original. Amazing soundtracks by Hans Zimmer and Vangelis
This is honestly the greatest piece of music I've ever listened to. Brought me to tears.
Clout seeker
Awesome rendition of one of the best movie sound tracks ever made.
Thank you, glad you liked it!
When the bass filter open a bit at 00:52, I was like woah, the volcas did it
Sounds like Vangelis amazing what you can do with small volcas
good job, it reminded me of the setting of the movie, sad, melancholy but beautiful.
Stunning. Stellar work here. The movies and soundtracks speak to a part of my soul that little other pieces of art can.
"I've...seen things..."
This should have a million views
I agree 🥲
You spelled 10 million wrong
A round of applause 👏👏👏
This is insane. It seems impossible how you absolutely crushed both tracks with just a few Volcas... Like how do they sound THAT good
Thanks Max! Volcas sounds ok but they need to be mixed right to really sound good
Reverb … lots of reverb … ☺️ Yeah, good mixing helps, too … 😉 ^ 👏🏼 Nice work! 😊
Sad and beautiful
And dystopian
D'une absolue beauté ! Un somptueux hommage à Vangelis et à la musique inoubliable de Blade Runner.
How does this only have 7k views??? My ears were in heaven this whole time
The ways of youtube are impenetrable I guess… 🙏 Thanks!
Brilliant! I just discovered this by accident, while I was searching for any news about a version 2 of the Volca Keys
Thanks 🙏 I hadn’t heard anything about a V2 yet except for the FM

Welcome to the team! Don't be frustrated if this doesn't sound amazing right of the bat, it takes time to understand how to make these sound good ;)
Yes! ❤ Synth on!

Kudos also for the subtle but effective lighting in the clip. Excellent stuff.

WOW pretty impressive what can be done with these Volcas
Thanks, mixing was a big part of making them sound that good though (EQ, reverb..)
Any chance you can do a video on chords, notes breakdown etc and how to? Would love to learn it.
I don’t do tutorials but I’m sure you can find what you’re looking for on YT :)

Who needs a CS-80, when you've got talent and a few Volcas?
I wouldn't say no to a CS-80 ^^ but you're right: we don't need much to make good music

Dude. Awesomely done. What reverb are you using here? Just a plug?
Yep just a Valhalla Vintage Verb
do Cybernetic Angels play Electronic harps? the answer you have provided is YES yes they do.
damn.... never understimate volcas

This was extremely enjoyable.
The Volca FM is just like a DX7 inside -- FM synthesis -- so it can do very clean, bell-like sounds, organs and things which analogue isn't so good at
what ' sound design ' process in logic did you use?... sounds great!!!

It’s genius. Your thumbnail rocks. Well done! Honestly your thumbnail alone makes me want to go out and buy one. Korg should be paying you haha
Thanks! I wish they pay me 🥲
A volca keys cant sound this good
🤫
The reverb sound…….
Is this a vangelis cover?
Also, on which machine is your bass coming from?
Yes it is! The bass comes from the Volca Bass, it’s the instrument at 2:25
Thank you for making and sharing this beautiful work. I too share this passion of audio production.
Are these stock sounds or are they uploaded ?
What synths are u using?
Volca Keys, Bass, FM & Modular
