So there is going to be a comic adaptation of the Thrawn book (which this video is based on). Meaning there will be actual images to showcase what is talked about in this video, and I won't have to resort to fanart/unrelated images of Thrawn. Once that comic is released, do you guys want me to remake this video and use the comic images instead?
The Lore Master yes please
The Lore Master I love your channel and your videos
The Lore Master yes
Sure
Yes
Thrawn: "Some of you are cool, don't go to the imperial academy tomorrow."
god fucking dam it people we had one thing to do ONE THING and we already fucked it up Jesus why the fucking school shooting memes
Katyusha it was inevitable
It's a universal constant.
Thrawn: Get off my Holo-mail Spence!
pumped up kicks starts playing
Oh god
"To defeat an enemy you must know them, not only their strengths but their stupidity, hubris, overconfidence"-probably Thrawn at the Imperial Academy.
Close xD,
In rebels he said something in the line: '' not only their strengths, but also their beliefs and religions''
@@kkevan4138 Bruh, it was a joke

Didn't mean to sound rude, mb :D
Be careful who you bully in middle school...
That person could one day lead you to a suicide mission.
Hmmm... Sounds like a good plan to me.
Friendshipismagic so true
But I like messing with blue people...
I thought the MLP Craze died out.
Thrawn was way better than those cadets at the imperial academy.
Gerardo Reyes He's way better than everyone
Gerardo Reyes yep.
Gerardo Reyes Because he got better star cards.
If only he had become a rebel or apart of the groverment prior to the Clone Wars, I expect he could of figured out who was the real master mind behind the Clone Wars and maybe direct things to see the future Emperor fall much sooner than he did.
Gerardo Reyes Yes, he played that entire scenario like a born master strategist. Imagine Thrawn as a Darth Sidious level Sith⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️.
He managed to rise to a powerful position in an incredibly xenophobic society, respect.
well he had friends in "high" places *cough cough Palpatine cough cough* :P
Drk-dragon Network He became Palpatine's friend because He was a genius
That's how you gain trust and respect from your troops! Tran I respect you....
Thrawn really had no help from Palpatine in his ascend to a higher rank, not this early anyway.
Thrawn the Highschool years too bad they never said what he did for prom.
The guys who bullied Thrawn are really lucky he wasn't interested in revenge.
If you read ch1 of that book, than yeah they were very lucky.
I'm about 4 hours into the audio book. Thrawn killed pilots, killed stormtroopers, and terrified an entire Imperial deployment just to impress them. It's terrifying to think what he would do to someone he actually wanted to destroy.
Yeah, I'm surprised the commander even let him live, let alone take him to Coruscant in front of the emperor instead of a prison. I know it was a matter of survival (As far as the empire knows) but still...
That should be the next video on Thrawn on this channel.
Yeah that takes some suspension of disbelief. But The book does a decent job of explaining it. The Imperial commander recognized the talent of Thrawn and thought he could gain recognition by introducing a new, capable, alien species to the Emperor. Then Thrawn used his relationship with Anakin and knowledge of the unknown regions to secure a place in the empire. From there Thrawn used his immense talent and capabilities to rise through the imperial ranks.
Why waste time on revenge when you can better spend it surrounded by art and music?
Guess who got the highest position? Thrawn. Guess who's serving under him now? his bullies.
You sait it brother.
Ok, this video has made me like Thrawn as a person, as opposed to simple respect for him as a stratagist and tactician.
Feste the Phule This is cool and all, but I still prefer him in Legends.
Mc Dawg
Why is that?
That's the whole new book in a nutshell he's far kinder then he was in Legends.
The thing is I know tactics too
Book portrayed him as a better person than the Rebel TV show
hey, lets make fun of the guy that can not only kick our asses single handedly, and completely smash our mental stability
Interesting profile picture you have there :P
thank you :p
That's happened to me. It felt great to hand their asses to them.
Folfie Lukather fucking furries
i bet he was feeling a little... BLUE... at the academy
I love the realistically styled pictures of Thrawn!
I can smell the Eli X Thrawn fanfictions coming..... Like a thousand fanarts were downloaded at once...
I read "fanarts" as "farts" at first. Seriously.

Thrawn was perhaps the complete opposite of Vader. Vader punished subordinates (basically everyone except Palpatine and Tarkin) with death for the slightest mistakes. He was essentially a petty schoolyard bully. Thrawn also executed his subordinates, but only as a last resort for things like treason or utter failure due to incompetence. On the other hand he rewarded subordinates for success and even for creative thinking, even if the plan didn't work. Using the "all stick" approach doesn't motivate people to do the best because they want to. It terrifies them into conformity, resulting in many only doing what they feel the most comfortable with, stifling creative thinking and initiative.
Corristo89
Vader actually hated the upper echelon specifically because they had superiority complexes, took credit for their subordinates work, and often were born into their role or handed it through coercion.
He was extreme with his punishment of then to the point if blatant murder (because he retains anakins temper and dislike of people using power they don't deserve only with his morality dulled due to the dark sides effect on him) but when it came to people legitimately putting in effort, such as the troopers, they treated one another with respect mist the time.
Plus there's the whole being in constant agony thing, which I imagine makes it hard for him to calmly address problems.
Vader only did that to the officers due to him empathizing with the troops much more. Probably from his hands on experience with troops during the clone wars and his disdain for their credit being given to the officers. He was well respected by troops in the empire
That's actually a poor analysis of Vader's behavior. He's extremely strict on officers who gain their positions on connections but respects those who work hard and diligently. Even if you made a slight mistake vader would first take into account how you gained your position.
In addition, the "all stick" approach causes subordinates to keep bad news to themselves, fearing the wrath of their superior. Without a clear understanding of a situation the superior will often make poor decisions based on faulty information.
I remember one time in the Thrawn Trilogy, I believe it was in Dark Force Rising, but it may have been in another, where Luke gets away from the Chimaera because he pulled a maneuver that wasn't in the Imperial training booklet. The operator for the tractor beam tried something to get Luke but failed. Thrawn ultimately promoted the operator and gave him the assignment to figure out a way to counter the maneuver because Thrawn saw that the operator had quick thinking and a creative mind and Thrawn could use that even though he failed.
There is no guaranteed winning hand, I suggest you remember that.
Thomas D what does that mean?
michael goodner it’s from the novel when he was playing cards with the cadets
The blaster says otherwise....
Whoami691 that’s when the blaster blows up and blinds you.
Not so shameless, possibly corny self promotion: I'm writing a story that delves a bit deeper into Thrawn's Academy time using his POV and the POV of some of his tormentors.

Never bully the wrong guy
Normal Eugene kid brings a gun and starts a shooting.
Thrawn sends them to die in battle.
Alechboy Mlg well said!
never bully anyone
Lol
"wrong guy" Bullying Thrawn helped their careers
It'd be amazing if all of his bullies end up being part of Thrawn's squadron.
Gregory Lumban-Gaol that is in fact what happened.
+Gregory Lumban-Gaol At least one of the bullies that got sent away to the Academy to become a tie pilot ended up becoming a pilot under Thrawn's command.
Gregory Lumban-Gaol yea
Probably that one pilot that Thrawn had shot to take down Heras shields
Justin Bennett Incorrect. For one, Thrawn is not the type to hold personal grudges or to value revenge. For another, in the book, the former bully in question actually wound up being one of Thrawn's best pilots at the time, and Thrawn utilized him to carry out a crucial mission which resolved a conflict between two local warring parties. The pilot, on the other hand, did hold a grudge, and since he couldn't take it out on his commanding officer, he took it out on then-ensign Eli Vanto (who was soon promoted to Lieutenant Commander, also becoming that pilot's superior officer briefly before being reassigned).
Cause he's blue? #bluelivesmatter
Nathan Jones Pretty much. It’s cause he is a blue skinned non-human.
da ba dee da ba daa
I was about to comment that, but with little more specific way. I can hear Guldo throwing that " You're blue! " insult just like he did with supreme kai on TFS dub lol
MABUS SUBAM Don't you mean King Kai?
Lol
This is why I like Thrawn, for his military prowess, and the ability to point out other cadets strengths, and request transfers to the schools of their strengths. The mark of a true leader is to know your teammates great strengths.
Thrawn could have made a perfect supreme chancellor for the New Republic, and make a better Senate than Palpatine ever was.
He could have been a better Senate, if you know what I mean. 😆
Yea but palp was slowly destroying the Republic from the inside sooooo
Well not really. It's noted many many times in the book that he's absolutely shit with politics
Yes but actually no, throughout the book trilogy Thrawn logic is proven to be almost droid like, which mean zero competence for politics. If Palpatine had trained Thrawn in politics like he trained Tarkin then this would be a far different story.
Yeah thawn is a dumb ass when it come to politics corruption and game it his biggest weakness
Also I just noticed that the name Eli Vanto is mispronounced in the video....
The Lore Master you da man
The Lore Master I love your and your channel
The Lore Master fire the new guy XD
yeah u better stop do that. Dou know how many slavs are suffering because of such mistakes?
Plz make a video about him or the duo in the future, had no idea about this guy
I imagine that when Thrawn is getting beat up he looks around for other people and then does the really apathetic "No stop, don't" like Willy Wonka.
Is this why they say don't bully people because it'll bit you in the ass later on?
Starscream91 because they know their targets. Thry look for the weak and vulnerable that would not have the courage to tell someone. Most bullies will target you mentally. The slowly destroy you imside but leave you looking perfectly fin on the outside. Plus, most wont even try to look. This leaves a constant satisfaction to the bully that is easily overlooked by others, and theost effective way to destroy a person's life.
Oh my! I don`t like this guy anymore! I love him!
Ādams Vizulis Love is a powerful word
@@tetsuya7529 Depends on where you are when you use the word. In America, you can love a brother, your parents or, well, a lover...You can also love food, clothing, other objects and even complete strangers that you've only read about and seen a few things they are in.
Love is a many-faceted and confusing thing.
Thrawn is the least malevolent villian I've ever heard of. lol
They bullied me ? I'm going to enjoy taking them out of their comfort zone and make them successful in life! Mwa hahaha!
The horror!
Mwahaha Fuck them all they'll be so happy :D
Actualy canon thrawn most interesting villain i ever seen
Or they'll die trying.
I'm sorry, "Mwa hahaha" really? 😅
this dude has my respect, every time he got bullied he just thought: I’m blue if I was green I would die
Lol
It’s hilarious how Thrawn is the biggest allegory for
“Bully a nerd in school and he’ll one day be your boss and bully you back.”
Nah, Thrawn doesn’t bully back. He’s not petty like someone like Vader who kills anyone who wrongs him. As seen in the novel, Thrawn displays how he could care less about his personal feelings towards his bullies but rather cares more about how to mold them into better individuals/soldiers. He doesn’t seem bullying as and issue for himself, but rather for the empire because that kind of behavior displays a lack of discipline which could end up hurting the order of things. That’s why I love Thrawn, he doesn’t hold a grudge but instead looks at everything in a logical light.
God, Thrawn is so awesome.
I respect Thrawn, I work with him any day.
Purge them
I hope him & Ezra become friends
Found the cartoon at the end most delightful; and I think that Thrawn's most enviable due to his self-control and his selflessness.
I too agree that he'd have suffered bullying in the Academy due to his alien heritage, and the Star Wars Expanded Universe also verifies that point; this is a lovely story you've told with this video documentary, please do keep them up!
Sincerely your fellow Thrawn fan;
Chissstardestroyer.
So, Eli is Thrawn's BFF?
I feel bad for Grand Admiral Thrawn 😔 he did not deserve such disrespect!
Guess who did a book report on this and got an A =]
Indigo Azai Seriously? That's awesome!
No. IMPOSSIBLE.
Aye I know it's two years late, yet still, good looks.
😆
Not you
I'm so impressed by how good of a leader this guy actually is. Zero ego, no anger, only clear, logical actions and solutions. He seems like he'd be a great friend too, if anyone bullied you he'd just orchestrate some sort of comlex big brain plan on how to make them disappear without a trace lol, fun thing to think about with these kinds of characters is how they would act if outside of their country/faction etc they are so loyal and devoted to they'd turn some of that devotion to a friend, or a lover.
What is there to say? Thrawn's clever, his tactics, and strategies could've wiped out the whole entire rebellion.
TehShockTroopa in Legends he almost destroyed the new Republic, he was only stopped by his personal assassin turning against him
gargoyles9999 who says that won't happen again since thrawn is still alive
He probably would've in Zero Hour if not for Konstantine's insubordination.
That commandant looks like Jean Luc Picard.
I would want to have an autograph to him
I noticed that the image you used for the hooded figures were from fire emblem Awakening lol
That ending picture is adorable!
I love the style of admiral Thrawn
I have read the book this is based on. This video is an excellent summary of the events that occurred during Thrawn’s time at the academy, not to mention the illustrations used. Excellent job!!!
So if this Eli were a film character, he would have a kind of lower class accent as compared to the RP type accents that Core World cadets had, eh?
I think so. Think of a southerner from the U.S., that is what he would probably sound like.
He wouldn't that posh, British-sounding accent, basically.
In the audio book, he has a bit of a rural American, even southern accent.
@@vilheim9508 was about to say this
he's a yeehaw boi? oh I like him already
Thrawn wins.
In every aspect of life.
Thrawn´s brains are so OP that he doesnt need the force.
As always, wonderful video The Lore Master!
Thrawn's wonderful. He's one of my favorite characters.
What a smart respected man and his friend beside him.

Clever very clever
I hate you. But I love you.
It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you.
I read this in ice cubes voice because of this guys profile picture. Don’t know why but that made them way better
1:09 "in this video expose" "so there u have it"
0:05 Anyone notice the other officer looks like Timothy Zahn, Author of Thrawn?
Yeah, I'm about 75% sure it was intentional.
I would hate to be the people who bullied him XD.
Did you even watch the video?
M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle it's probably because they became tie pilots and you know what happens to them
I'm liking Thrawn more and more :D
I love how thrawn is always one, if not two, steps ahead of everything and think ls about everything in advance
That little drawing at the end.....love it
In another famous star wars youtube channel, they said that thrawn joined the republic first, and even helped Palpatine kill some jedis during the clone wars, in some secret missions, and then he joined the Empire.
But this video said that he joined the Empire rightaway.
So, what is is his true origin?
+Matheus Fernanades oh that was Thrawn’s story in Legends (the old Star Wars timeline that is now being rewritten by the new books under Disney’s version of Star Wars). Basically that Legends story is an alternative universe.
The Lore Master Thanks a lot for the answer :D
But what’s cool, is the same author who invented Thrawn, wrote the now cannon books!
Eli is pronounced "Ee-lie" in the audiobooks. And it's not an uncommon name in real life, short for "Elijah", like "Elijah Wood".
Great video
Ur a great youtuber
+WHOIAN FANIAN Thanks!
Of all the Imperials and villains, I respect Thrawn the most in both Canon and Legends. He is one person you cannot underestimate and his expertise is no joke. He doesn't need the force to show his cunning ways. Plus, he's not stupid. His intelligence is rather humble and calculative.
Gotta give it to him
He is smart as hell
I wouldn’t say that Thrawn “used” Eli. They were great friends and trusted one another. Thrawn didn’t see Eli as a tool, but rather someone that he could rely on.
You really deserve the name lore master.
Lol thank you
Since I watched Thrawn in Rebels and now finishing the Disney Thrawn trilogy of books, Thrawn is my new favorite Star Wars villain of all time. He just rocks!
A very smart man indeed.
I'm blue dabadedabada

DarkThrone I knew it
It's pronounced FUCK-YOU

I actually pronounce his like in the video tbh
Didn't know star wars even had a huge lore. Great vid.
I like how Thrawn sees the potential that can benefit to his cause and to his empire rather getting revenge he instead brought the best in people
Thrawn employing Stoic philosophy. I really hope we get to see him on the big screen or at least the little screen soon.
I love the art at the end
"Supply officer" sounds like an incredibly desirable position in the Empire navy tbh. Nondangerous work away from the front lines, the possibility of extra income through corruption...
What a chill dude
Be careful who you make fun of in middle school
I heard the audiobook, glad you made a video on this!
P.s Its not pronounced El-ee its "Ee-lie"
+Darth Haha I know, edited the video late at night and just notice that mispronunciation.
That penultimate picture looks like Eli fell asleep on Thrawn and he doesn't know what to do about it.
This just shows just how much Thrawn thinks things through.
He got promoted for a reason
Because you're the SENATE?
Fa11en Dawn because he can DEW IT
0:33 Benedict Cumberbatch and Henry Cavill, make it happen Disney!
Beneydan Cemarbad you mean?

Thrawn: a star wars story.
Something i can only dream that can happen
those pilots would later be assigned to the chimera under thrawns command piloting his tie defenders. a smart leader indeed. if you want more info i highly recommend the thrawn audio books.
Started from the bottom now he's here
I thought it was pronounced "E-Lie"?
The more lore videos I see about Thrawn canon or legends, the more I like him
Thrawn is the perfect example of how hard work pays of and he is thus my favorite character
“Most of these were pretty minor, with him only being called casual racial slurs”
*Grand Admiral Thrawn is the Jackie Robinson of the Star Wars Universe*
htwoa aowth Who is this “Jackie Robinson”
If the spelling is correct he was the first black baseball player to play with whites, this is while segregation was still in effect in the south of the us. He faced plenty of bigotry because of this and was a very talented baseball, this was 50-60+ years ago.
Look up the movie called 42. I would consider thrawn more similar to yoda except in tactics and strategy than force knowledge and lightsaber proficiency.
i guess thrawn was,
*THRAWN AROUND*
ill go out...
When you stop to think about it, Ellie has the same backstory of Joe Bauer (Luke Wislon) from "Idiocracy". XD

3:25 unexpected Fire Emblem in my Star Wars lore videos? Great day indeed.
Thrawn is one of the best Star Wars characters, hands down. I find myself rooting for him to win more often than not. 😛
1:11 Star Wars Reading Club loll
I totally needed to know this...
Do more of these
LIL PUMP
Thrawn would probably listen to lyrical rappers like 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar, Nas and Eminem, Jar Jar would listen to Lil Pump, but then write better lyrics and rap them better
Repeat Repeat Repeat Repeat- Lil pump.
Thrawn isn't the type of guy to listen to rap tho...
Why would he not he likes all forms of art
The book was Amazing
Only thrawn would be so ingenious as to think of such a plan even against people that he hated. He litterly did not let his emotions grab onto him at all so that he could make an insanely calculated and perfect decision.
God damn, much respect for this fictional character. Thinks of every scenario and all its factors.
