This planet alone could became an entire RPG open world game, serious!
Just don't let EA touch it, or it will be the base game and 5216+ Dlcs.
An entire series of games
GTA
That would melt consoles and PCs with just todays graphics
That would be so sick
So a "ready player one" situation
So..basically...Space Detroit?
Yeah
Damn that's sad :P
Wait wat does level 666 look like?
Can confirm, I live in Detroit.
ABANDON HOPE ALL WHO ENTER HERE.
So you could be born on a lower level
And never see natural sunlight.
Yes
If you moved to a higher level or went to another planet you could
Try travelling upwards.
@Mr. Obunga Credits schmedits.
Snowpiercer
Too bad the game "Star Wars 1313" never saw the light of day. Literally, since sunlight was almost mythical in the lower levels of Coruscant. The idea that Coruscant, the most advanced and populous planet within the galaxy, had places on it which were not only uninhabitable, but also basically lost to legend, is intriguing. And it would be almost alienating if Coruscant didn't also have massive slums and ghettos to contrast the glittering skyscrapers on the surface.
The game "The Phantom Menace" from 1999 wasn't exactly a masterpiece, but in one level you do descend down to one of the lower levels to rescue Queen Amidala as Captain Panaka. And I distinctly remember the underworld of Coruscant feeling almost crushing: Dark, dirty, cramped and dangerous as hell. The elevator trip back to the top was literally like being able to breathe again.
Corristo89 Eh not much of a loss anyway, it's an uncharted clone...
I loved the Taris undercity in KotOR. It's not Coruscant but it felt similar.
Lockjaw Look kid, do you have an argument or not?
I forgot which EU book it was, but there a part where the Jedi twins Jacen and Jaina where very little and got out of the Chewbaccas care and went down an elevator to the very bottom levels of the planet. Obviously got out and survived, but was interning to read what they saw way down there and the stuff they came across
Why is that a bad thing? And who did Uncharted take massive inspiration from? That's right, Tomb Raider.
I would expect some clone troopers and a jedi who haven't been in proper contact with the surface...place is filled with mysterious wonders more than Raxus Prime
Articus Ramos the troopers fucked off to mandalore
Or monsters worse than taris
Articus Ramos there was very little government/military presence in Level 1, it was practically uninhabitable. Granted, there may be a few Clonetroopers who would remain on Level 5, but Level 5 is the lowest inhabitable level possible. If you could live without oxygen, daylight, and were immune to sickness and disease, you could live on Level 1, but still. Level 1 is nothing but a pile of heaping garbage, and you would be the only one living in that deep, dark, dirty slum. It wouldn't be a fun place to live, even if you could inhabit it.
Pixel Boss it might have some old structure with outdated equipment of old...frozen in time. Under piles of trash
When I was a kid I thought that Coruscant was a Mustafar-like planet, with lava on its surface, and that the skyscrapers were built on top of the dry rock. This was because in the chase scene in Ep II if you look down the bottom of the city looks like lava rivers.
I was always curious and afraid of whatever those lights were when Anakin was falling
You'd think that they'd pay more attention to the lower levels, seeing as it's the literal foundation of the upper levels.
Welcome to reality lol
Man this level-system makes no sense (Air pressure)
Don't be silly, silly! People don't need AIR PRESSURE in Star Wars! Just look at how they seem to survive in the vacuum of space just by putting any old helmet on! Or even that. Han and Leia survived inside the maw of a space worm while it had its mouth open directly to space. With nothing more than some breath masks. Air Pressure is meaningless.
Just like having a lightsaber duel on a river of lava completely ignores how hot that proximity is, and how toxic the air is on a molten planet. These creatures that look like humans are obviously biologically superior to us and don't need petty things like Physics to tell them what to do.
@@atigerclaw Shit, beer on me
It’s Star Wars man
almost nothing in star wars makes sense because its science "fiction"
@@atigerclaw just because it is the vacuum of space does not mean it is a vacuum cleaner . There is no reason a person could not survive in space . the Vacuum of space just means lack of gasses or devoid of matter . It does not mean you will step into space and be sucked flat like a pancake . Han and Leia were inside a lung of a being larger than Hawaii . Science has no place inside a place like that !
Rip Star Wars 1313
Coruscant reminds me of Taris on city wise, KOTOR anybody...
Coruscant came first.
Jonathan Szuhai yeah, I know.
AJ Johnson04 They directly call it the Coruscant of the outer rim several times. Of course it would remind you of it.
I expected something like rakghouls to be down in level one so when he said "diseases causing mutations" I was like yep rakghouls
482lost I saw you talking with rukil!
It's been said that Star Wars technology is actually under-developed when you take into account how old their civilization is (I believe it's at least 200,000 years old) and has been rather stagnant (and sometimes regressed) for the last couple thousand years or so. We take for granted that technology will constantly and steadily advance, but one must wonder if we'll also hit a technological "brickwall" at some point.
I dont understand how it works with city layers? What is bearing the absolutely massive weight of 5000 layers of buildings? I think there is so little know about the layer aspect of Coruscant. Because authors haven't really made the whole idea seem like a plausible reality. I get its fiction but the best fiction you can relate too and wrap your head around. So it makes some sense but i can't wrap my head around how the city layers would work.
anti-gravity super structures, it doesnt add more weight to the planet and doesnt alter its orbite (wish would be catastrophic), mind you, the first levels are just levels on top of each other, but as technology got more developed and complexe, they found other way to create extra layers
The highest level must be hundreds of miles above the surface.
The gravity of the planet could be different from earth
It must cost a fortune to renovate all the supporting beams all the time considering they'd have to be extremly strong, numerous and go very deep, you'd need special times just to repair it at the bottom.
I always thought Coruscant would be cooler as an ancient large space station, like the death star but built in a more realistic time frame.
I used to not know the layers were built on top of each other. I thought the top level was the original surface and they kept building DOWN towards the planets core. I was SO confused by that.
That would make more sense in terms of realism but this is star wars!
@@gameover9390 it doesnt make sense because the layers would have to be smaller and smaller as they go down
@@ethanbenfield2285 I.......I don't know how to reply to that, other then I didn't know they change size
@@gameover9390 its a sphear. so as you go deeper into it theres less surface area. like an onion, as you peel it back each layer is slightly smaller than the last.
how can the world maintain itself with 6000 layers with every layer sprawling over a distinct surface, every single one on one planet thats twice the size of earth?
For once the canon version is actually cooler than legends
Nazri Lee
How so? They are almost identical, minus the sanctuary part, which is (despite sounding cool) quite stupid. If it was just a small enclave, then around it it would have literally walls of durasteel. And not just walls of durasteel, but walls that would cover the sun and shorten days
Honest Happy Hater
The deeper levels are actually inhabited by a mutant and violate race.
Fuck you legends was always better fuck disney and its new pos timeline!
I like Star Wars personally. These Disney and "Legends" Elitists need to go jump off a bridge and stop acting like Toddlers.
Edward Richtofen fuck you episode 7 was a damn near ripoff of episode 4. In the episode 7 lucas had written the empror comesback because of cloning. Also now that the timeline has been fucked by disney, we lose the Yuhzan Vong War and it central characters, Anakin Solo, Mara Jade, Jacen Skywalker. Are now gone forever
I Don't know why, but this videos made me want to watch some old school Lego stop motions
it's sad to think about how many people throughout the glaxy saw coruscant as the dream place to live, only to move there and live in poverty.
Reminds me of when I saw my dad’s home town for the first time.
Alonzo Aldaba lol
Coruscant could be consider a megastructure like the Dyson Sphere and the Ringworlds.
It's just a speck of dust compared to a Dyson Sphere. Still pretty dinky compared to a Ringworld.
1:12 I farted synchronised with that background noise
We have discovered a true poet
PNB Productions hell ye buddy
Lvl 5: Deep Web
Surface: facebook
They should make a game where you can start to make your own hideout on level one. Mixture of Fallout and GTA. WHAAAAT!????😀😂
"Ecoo-men-oh-palis" lol that's hilarious. It's more like "ecu-min-op-olus" but the "u" in ecu having a sound like "up" not "new". The correct way is much easier to say. I'm sure other accents have slightly different ways of saying ecumenopolis but the way it was said sounded like a fake alien word from starwars, which I imagine is the reason it was pronounced so weirdly in this video. Btw it's not a starwars term.
I don't want to even imagine what would it be like in Level 1 of Coruscant. In our real world, we know what it's like to live in lawless, poor areas. In Star Wars, the first 5 levels of Coruscant take up to less than 0.1% of the entire structure, and they take all the trash, the toxics, the scumbags, the criminals, the mutations, the diseases, the dark from the rest 99.9%. Who knows what kinds of nasty shjt that happen down there everyday.
Coruscant just seems structurally unsound. How tf do they not have building collapsing everywhere? Someone call OSHA.
Galactic capital. Most structurally advanced. Political powerhouse.
Dumps garbage on the floor.
Ah yes... The lower levels of Coruscant. The only place where it resembles Warhammer40K's worst places.
"Take him to Level . Level Detroit"
A game about level 1 would be cool as hell, like you have to down there and bring things to breathe and see. Like a you’re a bounty hunter or something
Don’t you think it would’ve been so much cooler if Snoke was a citizen in level 1 of Coruscant, surviving in an utter hellhole every single day, that would explain how he got those scars, and later getting recruited by Palpatine to become his secret apprentice after sensing his powerful force presence from his palace. That would be a cool story, instead him being just a “clone”.
Level 1 is unliveable, maybe level 5
Considering the fact all the sturctural support is on level 1 and nobody goes there for maintanace it is a miracle that is doesn't collapse
I want 1313..... :(
Imagine being on level -2,like they 100% had a basement , Imagen living there
Great video. In case it helps in the future, the pronunciation is “eh-CUE-men-ah-pollis”
Coruscant is like a typical hive city. It get shitter the more you go down
The only place where level one is the hardest to survive
Boy would I want to see a movie about investigations on Coruscant.
This stuff is my Star Wars. I don't go to the theaters, I don't sub to Disney garbage. I watch lore master and colleagues for my geek fix.
There's an old Boba after book where he traverses level one as a kid. Takes place during the clone wars
They need to make a star wars video game exclusively about coruscant it would be so cool to walk around the planet and explore the lower levels
Can you make similar videos on the planets that where destroyed by Starkiller Base?
We don't know much about them as of now, but I will once said information is released!
The Lore Master ok... its kinda disappointing that we dont know much about theese planets that are supposed to have been the center planets of an new republik.... i imagine them similar to Corusant but i want to know more! Theese type of Planets are so awesome!
i thought coruscant was destroyed too
Connor O'Neal no i dont think so
Connor O'Neal hosnian prime and the system was destroyed it was the capital of the new republic
If I ruled coruscant, the bottom 50 layers would be solely for processing trash.
This could make a really good movie or a game where you have to climb up the cities for whatever reason
1:26 Refuge, not refugee lol. Other than that, great presentation! I've always been curious to explore the lower levels and origin of Coruscant. I'd love it the movies or shows had characters go below for some reason. To find something on level one that's ancient and forgotten. Just see the old monuments, buildings and homes of the people who once lived there.
Great lore on Trantor dude!
Idk why but I feel like Yoda is a native to coruscant before it was a city planet
CoolCaleb - Gaming didnt he mention that it had 50 levels 100000 years ago? And isnt yoda just about 1000?
So it's the city from "BLAME!"
TLM: We're changing the channel name, because the old name was based off a joke!
Also TLM: The new name is based off a joke comment a few years back.
Palpatine: Ironic
The nice feel that earth is gona look like this in a few thousant years
The Molepeople are down there.
Hey bois
it feels like every major city in the us combined. Seattle, New York, and Detroit.
Looking at Level 1 of Coruscant in Legends is like looking at the past
So coruscant is basically a wannabe family friendly 40k hive world?
mace is chillin at level 1
I'm surprised that the Bankor were move to a similar planet by the empire. That seems awfully generous
Please do a video about how big coruscant really is without any of the buildings on it, without the supercity, before the first level was started.
I wonder how the buildings can support themselves. Between the sheer weight and the age of the metal, eventually buildings would givebin on themselves.
5217 LEVELS ??? I can`t even comprehend that ...
I wonder if it's possible to survive inside a mineshaft on level 0
For a citizen of 40k, the lowest level is a paradise.
Can't wait until Disney makes a movie about this.
Maybe this will help with the city planet pronunciation. Ec-you-men-op-oh-liss
Ecumenopolis
There is a slightly elongated s sound at the end, like in metropolis.
Imagine a horror game in the lower levels of corusant
Wouldn't be the safest to be on the first lever because your under all those other cities
You know what'd be the most coolest thing that should happen?
If someone set off a nuke at level one of coruscant and made a massive sink hole all the way to the top level
And then thats where the start of level one could be explored!
due all the lower levels get basic infrastructure repairs or do the jedi just use the force to somehow tell the rust to take a hike?
And how the hell did they had enough oxygen for all these people without any nature?
Very enlightening thanks for the video
Imagine a metro 2033 like game set on level one of corosant where you play as a scavenger hunting for metals and the like down on that level.
It's funny that the "official" number of inhabitants of Coruscant is 1 trillion. They didn't think about how much that actually is. Considering Coruscant is the size as Earth.
I'll do the math for you. The densest place ever was Kowloon Walled City which had 50,000 inhabitants living in 2.6 hectares or 0.026 km2, so 1.9 million per square kilomiter. Earth's total land area is 148,940,000 km2. 1.9 million times that is 2.86 x 10^14 or in normal language 0.3 quadrillion inhabitants just on Earth's land surface in one layer.
The total area of Earth is 510,072,000 km2. So 1.9 million times that is nearly 1 quadrillion inhabitants who all live in one layer of houses just 13/14 stories high. If it were Coruscant with 5,127 layers than that would mean there would live about 5 quintillion people (not considering the increase of area with each additional layer which would make this number even bigger, simply because there is no data on how high one layer is) on that planet which is about 5 million times more than stated on wookieepedia.
Coruscant looks of all cities on Earth the most like Manhattan to me. So using it's density of 27,798.9/km2 we get 141.7 trillion inhabitants per layer, which means 70.9 quadrillion inhabitants for a more "realistic" Coruscant. That still is 70 thousand times more than the 1 trillion stated in canon.
Eucamanopolis- a planet covered in City you say it like euk-im-a-no-poll-us
All that technology and they could find some bots to operate a garbage scow.
I always thought those 5.2K levels were actually building "floors", not layers with entire buildings. So, a single level would be a full layer of buildings with hundreds of floors each? That is a lot.
If I was a surviving Jedi I would hide there
Why was the Jedi Tempel even dare? I Cant imagine that the Force was strong on a Planet that hasnt even one single bit of Nature on it.
The trilions of people still have a presence in the force and the temple is the administrative center of the order.
Level 1 of Coruscant in legions who be perfect for Jedi master Paratus for the the for unleashes, with all the trash there.
Were the hell are the Jedi in this abomination of treatment ?.
So basically it was one massive hive world....
0:54 not gonna lie. This shot is very creepy and dark.
Yeah
they must have huuuge oxygen generators. wonder why noone ever tried sabotaging those
Wouldn't going to that cantina on level 5 actually be the dumbest thing to do if you wanted to keep a low profile?
well that's nice of the empire, they could've just forced them off and that'll be it
This is very interesting
I wish Disney do a series called coruscant. I watch that.
What? 5000 Levels of cities above each other? That would make at least 500 km of vertical structure. lol..
This is basically Midgar from FF7 but on steroids
Ryloth... Because that's where twileks come from. Some togruta emigrate there as well.
I guess shit truly does roll down hill. If you aren't rich, you live in a rich guys sewage system.
That makes me think that level 1 looks like the earth from wale but covered over.
The lower levels are like my old minecraft worlds
Someone please make a movie about this!
What happens to Coruscant economically and socially after the Republic moves the capital to Hosnian Prime?
so a really nice hive city basically
I’m sure there’s an episode of doctor who like this 🤨
So basically level 1 is just like Detroit today.
lvl 1 is where Blade Runner takes place.
So then the whole place is one big shell world?
I wonder how many other planets in the SW universe are shell worlds tbh.
