I agree but that deep message in Serbian??? In my opinion it isn't suited for Eurovision, only for a national Serbian market. I mean, not even Spanish (I'm Spanish) is appopriate to deliver a message to Europe, only to Latin America. French barely and only English should be chosen to express those ideas in a song for that international contest.
The more I'm listening to the song, the deeper meaning and hidden messages come out to light. Great musical performance conveying such a good vibe and the beat ...Bravo!

@@newhuskytwenty , in my opinion, if a song's message is really deep, you cannot get it properly by hearing it once or twice, even if it is in your own language. "Deep messages" in English song lyrics meant to be understandable for everyone typically are just banalities.
It does no matter so much this song is in Serbian. As such, it might be understood in neighbor countries. It's partly in Latin, a language many educated people all over Europe know. And we do have translations! That's not so much a song than a captivating peace of performance art that arouses your curiosity so that you want to find a translation in a language you understand.
As far as I know, this song was not originally intended for Eurovision. Konstrakta uses the language she knows best to express ideas she finds important. And not just the language, as the visuals speak a lot, too. And the Serbian televoters got it. They probably did not vote for a song they thought might win the Eurovision, but a song (or, performance) they were impressed by the most. And that's fine. I think the song suits for Eurovision, too, and I guess it'll do well. Even if you don't get the lyrics, it is striking. You get puzzled. You don't forget in. And that's good.

Obsession with body health destroys mental health. that is just one of so many meanings of this song.
This time Serbia sends a powerful message. Did you ever think about hidden messages like OCD(constantly washing hands), rather meaningless news articles about health (hair care routine of Meghan Markle), searching for diagnosis on internet(what can cause spots arround your mouth, darck circles arroud eyes),and the obvious one "i don't have health insurance" in country where critical medical help is guaranteed by the law.
I am just sad that because of politic influence in Eurovision contest, this song will not win. Even 0 points can be expected because of current state of world. But hope is still here. That at least people will understand the message.

This song has many levels. She's saying that an "artist/actress" has to be healthy(has to look good) . It sounds very superficial and benign, but at the very end of the song (in latin) she said " A sick mind in a healthy body. A sad soul in a healthy body. A desperate mind in a healthy body. A frightened mind in a healthy body. So what do we do now? " It's a social criticism!
Konstrakta is one gourgeous and mega talented lady and the entire band named Zemlja Gruva is such a refreshment in the last decade. In this song she criticizes the system, but also individuals. In a figurative sense, she points out a country where artists are not protected (not just them) and they do not have health insurance. Guessing and enumerating whether the liver is healthy or enlarged is a telling fact about how we treat and cure ourselves with the help of Google making assumptions. In the end, we live the ideals of physical beauty and eating healthy, nurturing the body, and what about the spirit that left us long ago? She is deep, so listen to more of their stuff. XOXO

Dear, Mauro, my first reaction was exactly like yours, like "Whaaatta hack is THIS🤯?!?" Well, funnilly enough, I myself am Serbian and a healtcare worker - a psychiatrist. But understanding the language both natively and professionally didn't help much against the utter mental and visceral confusion upon first hearing this piece. It took me literally days to "digest" what I consumed in those few minutes. This time it's not one of those typical balkan songs. I doubt that the majority of the ECS voting public will be able to catch and resonate with it's profound message, in order for it to accomplish a huge ranking success, but that was not the aim of this song anyway. It did stir the minds and guts of those who it was meant for. 😉
Voice, rhythm and message. That's it! First of all, listen to her vocal abilities. Close your eyes and listen to the rhythm. Then open your eyes and catch a very strong message. Anyone who feels music and artistic performance will understand. Who doesn't, then he will never!

It´s satire! The song is about taking health superficially (washing hands), paying attention only to their physical appearence (what is the secret od Meghan Markle´s healthy hear?) while neglecting mental health. That our body performs all its processes independently anyway (I surrender my trust, let it beat! - hearth) etc ..
This is completely true, but I want to add to it: here in Serbia, artists (I mean people who do some kind of art as their main job) don't have health insurance like other people do, so when you look at lyrics, some parts relate to that, as a criticism to our health system.
I like the fact that there's this message, but personally I don't like the way it's spread. Her performance is not something that represents Serbs, our mentality and culture. The song is good, but I don't like the performance.

@@aleksandra9380 Poenta pesme zaista nije zdravstveno osiguranje. ..E, sad sve ostalo ne stoji jer 30-40% ljudi koji nisu penzioneri i deca ne može da ima knjižicu iz ovog ili onog razloga a zajednbički razlog je RFZO koi očigledno takve instrukcije prima odozgo. Evo ja od 2012. ne mogu da imam knjižicu, osim ako se ne sudim sa RFZO-om a zakon je na mojoj strani (kao, mada ga oni tumače drugačije) ali to je skup i dugotrajan proces u koji neću ulaziti. Mnogo ljudi znam u istoj situaciji. Ali i da dobijem rak ja s sigurno ne bih lečio kod farmakomafije.

Tekst, muzika, glas, scena, performans, Briljantno! Malo remek djelo ! Slažem se sa mišljenjem Jelene Belan i dodajem još jednu razinu razumijevanja : jasna referenca na C-19 i medicinski fašizam, "sterilizaciju" čovjeka i svijeta kakvu planiraju do daljnjeg uz naš pristanak! Kao i na čišćenje same planete od Ijudi. I više od "bolesne duše u zdravom tijelu", već eutanazija duše u tijelu, svođenje čovjeka na prazno tijelo kao digitalnu platformu. Medicina kao religija. Lyrics may seem a bit silly at first, they are actually dead serious. There are so many layers to the song and a lot of space for different interpretations:
The name of the song "In corpore sano" is in Latin and means "In a healthy body". It’s referring to the Latin saying "Mens sana in corpore sano" meaning "A healthy mind in a healthy body".
- First: What is the secret to Meghan Markle's healthy hair? This is a reference to modern society's obsession with beauty! That's what beauty magazines do/they create insecurities about your hair, skin, weight, etc., and then advertise products that promise to change that. That's what the second line of the song is about "I think that the secret is in deep hydration"
- Second: Konstrakta talks about how our skin and hair often signal some health issues, for example, liver and spleen problems. The reason she is thinking this is because she's worried about her own health, she can't visit a doctor for a check-up or get treatment because she doesn't have insurance, this is so important because independent artists in Serbia don't have health insurance.
- Third: Then we hear her saying how an artist must be healthy, a reference to Marina Abramovic’s (internationally known Serbian performance artist) performances called “Art must be pretty, an artist must be pretty” where she sits for hours combing her hair while repeating that cause she realized people focused a lot on her looks and her hair being messy and prioritized that over her art, and the reason she needs to be healthy is that she can't afford to get treatment.
- Fourth: the "Autonomic nervous system" part talks about how we don't need to control our own heartbeats. She describes how she walks her dog, on a beautiful summer day, her heart beats on its own, it doesn't need to get any better. She just puts her trust in her heart hoping it won't fail her (if it does fail her then that's it, the doctors won't help her and she made peace with that), and that's why she prays to God, "God give us health".
- Fifth: She then says "I DON'T HAVE THE HEALTH INSURANCE!" (Even with "free" health insurance we are still paying a lot for medications, fees, etc. We are always paying insurance through salaries, for both employed and unemployed, and if you don't have "free" health insurance, you are paying way more, which is a situation with independent artists in Serbia.)
- Sixth: Phrase "Boze zdravlja"/"God grant us health". This is a common saying, we use it all the time, and you will always hear people wishing other people good health (for their birthday, or really any holiday) because everything else (money, fame, love...) becomes meaningless if you are ill and in pain. She then says, the artist (she) is invisible, you can't see me, it's magic because she is invisible to health care, they won't treat her!
- Seventh: Now, last part, it's basically the old Latin saying: Mens sana in corpore sano (A healthy mind in a healthy body), except that Konstrakta makes it clear that only the body is healthy, the soul inside is desperate, we are all obsessed with improving our health, we try to eat better, be more active, take all those expensive drugs and supplements, but what about our mind?

The endless chanting of the mantra about a healthy body is destroyed by enumerating the weaknesses of the mind and soul from which no health can be born. The final verse of the song "and what are we going to do now" is a jargon of common sense cold shower which was poured over the mass media propaganda about a healthy body without a healthy mind and soul, after making that clear she asks us - So what do we do now?
Now about the handwashing:
1) She is dressed in white, she symbolizes the health care system (she reminds us of a nurse for example) and she is washing her hands. Why? Because of covid? NO! It is a metaphor about how health care workers need to "wash their hands off" meaning clear their conscience when they refuse to treat you because you don't have insurance. Just like when Pontius Pilate washed his hands before the crucifixion of Jesus - he tried to clear his conscience and make it clear that he wasn't the one who killed Jesus - it was the Law. In the same way, many people in the government or in positions are washing their hands off and can't help you because of the Law.
2) People standing behind her can be priests that pray for her health and/or are getting ready for her to die.

Initially, the song was believed to be an homage to Miroslav Ničić, guitarist of the band Zemlja gruva! [sr] whose member Konstrakta used to be, who had no health insurance and subsequently died from leukemia. Konstrakta denied that, claiming that the song has multiple layers and meanings other than health, and that it's open to interpretation.[6][7] When asked by Informer to explain the Meghan Markle reference, she mysteriously replied that she decided to name-drop Markle because "the newspapers say she has a beautiful hair... Even more beautiful than Kate Middleton's hair, let's not lie to ourselves. Kate has beautiful hats, and Meghan has beautiful hair. And Meghan is exiled, we support exiled people."[8]
Serbian portal Glossy opined that the hook of "In corpore sano" refers to the pressure women, especially female artists, face that they have to be beautiful. Furthermore, they claim that the meaning behind the first verse is the self-diagnosing that artists are forced to do because they have no health insurance, which is something that the upper class of society doesn't have to worry about, which they thought explains name-dropping Meghan Markle. The hand washing and the Latin outro are explained as a reference to the COVID-19 pandemic and mental health, respectively. The optimism of the second verse and the abrupt ending of the song followed by a rhetorical question were explained as the artist relaxing her thoughts and trusting God with her health.[6] Tena Šarčević of the Croatian portal Glazba.hr thought that the song talks about artists being underpayed, which leaves a mark on their physical and mental health. She also thought that Konstrakta satirizes the digital age we're living in by using a computer voice in the song, and explained the reference to Meghan Markle's hair as a critique of the media superficiality.[5]
Portal Buka drew a comparison between Konstrakta's and Marina Abramović's performances and chanting, stating that Konstrakta washes her hands over and over again while wondering what the secret behind healthy hair and skin is in the same way Abramović combs her hair over and over again to make herself beautiful so that people would pay attention to her art.[9] Hrvoje Horvat of Večernji list thought that the costume Konstrakta wore during the performance represents the "nurse of the mass media", ironizing the culture of health and desirable appearance.[10]

As for the Megan Markle part, it's a jab at mainstream media and what's being broadcasted as huge news, and how media reinforces our obsession with appearance and with the superficial. Illness is reflected on your face and body, you can't risk getting sick, you've got to stay beautiful. Stay beautiful, stay healthy, illness is not pretty.
