COOL VID... and wow catching a "snoot" SD-40 is RARE... didn't even know there were any left, let alone one that's still in service... but i still can't believe so many six axle locos on yard assignments and way freights today... i was a switchman in the 90s for UP and in our area, the industry tracks were restricted to only 4 axle locos that were under a certain weight... i left the railroad back in 2004 so a LOT has changed since then
I enjoyed your captures of UP SD40-2 #1838. Despite the graffiti, the classic diesel-electric still looks AWESOME! I like this interesting clip of #1838 scrapping the concrete between the rails with it's pilot, here 👉 06:14. I love EMD SD40-2 diesel-electric locomotives! I enjoyed watching. 👍
Impressive! I’m even surprised that a SD40 made it on LOW20. mainly I mostly see SD70Ms, sometimes I see Gevos or Geeps on LOW20, but most of the time it’s SD70Ms
Cool 😎 Video of the BNSF & Union Pacific in the LA Basin and There was a Union Pacific Derailment in Carson California Amazing Video of the Union Pacific in the Los Angeles Area of Southern California ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m more surprised that they sent 1838. 1709 was the only SD40 as of recent that ventured down there while 1838 was stuck as a switcher for LATC. Also some rough plow scraping at Douglas
I love L.A. in a strange, abstract way. It has to be among the weirdest looking urban areas anywhere. The heavy graffiti adds to it. Among the five counties that generally get lumped into "L.A.", there's something like 18 million people! If you know where things are and how to get around, it can be a fantastic place to visit. I've never tried living there.
@@LARailProductions GLAD to hear they arrested the bum... what a slob... guys like him just driving the quality of life in that city right in the toilet
1. Another of your videos has intermittent graphics showing the train's locations. Could you add those in future videos so I get a better frame of reference? 1a. Can you put a comment with time marks of some of the locations? I travel along parts of the route occasionally and don't recognize things like that siding with railroad cars. 2. Is that the BNSF Harbor diamond at around 7min outbound and 13min inbound? 3. I live along the route of the former Harbor sub that is now part of the KLine (and future bikeway).
City of Hawthorne just north of El Segundo Blvd at the city's City Hall. I'm not sure of the name of the street where the grade crossing is but this Union Pacific El Segundo line inherited from Southern Pacific merger is really something....
I was thinking railroads had FLAGMEN back in the day. Magnetic flagmen replaced men. Copper thieves are relieving the magnetic flagmen of copper. Maybe bring back flagmen?
Where does Union Pacific take the tank cars they pick up from Chevron Refinery in El Segundo? Does Union Pacific drop them off at their East Los Angeles Yard or West Colton Yard?
This graffiti is sickening to see. Freight cars are one thing but on motive power ? especially the classic EMD standard cabs. Ack ! the SD40-2 #1838 is a unfortunate victim of ghetto rats. Otherwise you make some excellent videos and in interesting urban areas. Wish the gangsters would just stick to painting on walls and buildings at least.
Gates lights bells actuators sensor grid....may or may not work. Conductor with a safety vest and a flag and radio? ALWAYS works ! Just saying ! Copper Thieves here ? Maybe.

I've seen Union Pacific SD70Ms on the El Segundo job and was shocked 😳😮😳😮!!! A road six axle locomotive doing the work of a four axle switcher...

Super nice rolling bomb with hand brakes partially applied..🎉
Großartig!
How late were they across the diamond in El Segundo? Crazy seeing that run in half decent light
The Milk Bone express!
It's where the HOMIES are! 😂
1442 the DRIP is work of art, it's a celebrity along Normandie ...
love seeing the drip units all over SoCal
Nothing says 3rd world like Graffiti.
They had to flag crossing the signals don't work at that first one?

3 (cont'd). I still hear train horns around 8am, which I figure is either coming from a train on the Wilmington sub, or a train along this line.
👍👍
Where is that shot at 3:15? No crossing gates?

Hold up, an SD40 on LOW20?
Rare
SD40 fs!

They go to East Yard then outbound to Colton from there
