Fresh "Spring Mood" From North Iceland - Mother Nature Pulling Pranks On April 1st

- This is the North Icelandic Spring April 1 2024 but i just had to share some of it since with a dash of sarcasm. This is however not the norm around here although we do often get some snow around Easter, but this is quite a lot of actually and disappointing since we would like to be free of it for the most part by now. But this is Iceland, to expect the unexpected is better for mental stability when it comes to weather.

WOW. That was gorgeous. Take a look at this video before you cancel your trip to Iceland. This is what you'll be missing. There's also all the interesting people and culture you won't get to see and chat with. I was in my 20s when I was stationed at Keflavik. I'd love ti go back but at 69 all the hiking and walking I did would be out. 😁 Thank you, Gylfi, for the wonderful memories you bring back for me.

I love the snow as long as it stays off the roads. It never listens. I use to live in CO so experienced many an April Fools snow storm. Even had a freeze one time on the 3rd of October. Very early. Iceland is so beautiful with or without snow. Thanks for showing us.
Beautiful. Coming from Australia, it's lovely to see the snow and how the streets are kept relatively free from snow drifts. It's also wonderful to see the snow falling.

I was reminded of something our geography teacher told us in school "Iceland has so much geothermal energy, they are heating the pedestrian walkways". ... Apparently not in Akureyri 😀 I really hope to visit one day, beautiful town and surrounding area.

After A Lovely 50°f Day. 😂 Ah, Sweet Nature.
We were here in Oct, and winter came early. Now we're here again, and winter is not wanting to give up. Today is a beautiful day in Skagafjordur, and hopefully there will be some color tonight!
We stayed at wondeful Husavik a few weeks ago, so much better in the North we believe, than Reykjavik, having stayed there last year. Much less busy and lovely people. We had not watched the "Eurovision" film prior to getting there, but as we were snowed in one day we watched it and it was great to see the local landmarks, including the apartments we were staying in. However, we were very concerned about getting back to Keflavic Airport in time for our flights as the roads were shut for a few days. Luckily they opened up on our due day back and we had a hairy journey back!! Added to the sense of adventure!! Now we find our selves watching the Husavik town cams to see the snow still coming down and checking roads.is, the North has definitely left a mark on us.

I think snow is such an incredible fun state of water that humans can do so much with: sculpt, build, play sports, slide down a hill in plain fun. And the amount of freshness and uplifting the whiteness brings - winters always should be white ❄️☃️⛄️🏂⛷

Thank you such a beautiful and scenic video. Here in Calgary we are expecting 15C for the couple of days then a few snow days dumping another 10 cm on top of what we had over the past two weeks! We always seem to get most of our snow in March and April!

As a New Zealander I just cant fathom what it must be like to like with snow like that, let alone to drive in those conditions. In some areas of NZ yes, but not the majority, not wherever Ive been living, not like that! Picture perfect, Simply divine.

Wow! It's been a couple years since we got that much snow here. April 1st was just a dreary rainy day, we even had some thunder. I can remember snow on Easter, but it's been a while. The bright colors on some houses & taller building really stand out. You live in such a beautiful place!

I can still remember we once had snow like this in London, I went for a walk in the park and the snow was so deep it went up to my knees. I know for some that may be normal, but just a once or twice in a lifetime event in London (England). Great fun, and of course soon gone! I'm happy with it this way too. Great video. I also noticed the snow melting off some house roofs, clearly a heating / insulation matter, and loved the heated driveway to one of the building's parking area.
Spring has sprung in my area of Canada (finally!) with 8° and 18° later in the week. Forecast is for good temp for at least 10 days and snow will be a thing of the past. :) Have a good spring in Iceland.

Lovely. I've thought of moving to Iceland many times since my first visit. But it is difficult and I've decided that coming to visit is more practical. But you fill in the gaps of what I am missing by not chosing to live there full time.

It's only when we get a sudden dump of snow it really makes us remember it's still technically Winter as we get use to less snow than we remember from our childhoods ❄️☃️
