- Welcome to my imperfect minimalist home!
Rhubarb was really loving the camera on this one, I think she tried to make an appearance in almost every shot.
Today I am going to take you on a tour of my minimali-ish home where I live with my husband and our cat Rhubarb. It features some colour, texture, and lots of local artwork, and provides us with a calm, cozy and comfortable space. It is simple, intentional, and reflects our daily lives. It is definitely not perfect, and it may not be as minimal as some home tours on UA-cam, but it was designed intentionally and realistically, which is what minimalism is all about to me!

I love your take on minimalism. I consider myself a minimalist meaning that I only have things in my home that bring me happiness and contentment. I have learned how to let go of the unimportant. Your home is clean, neat, and it appears that you have the items that bring you comfort. Maybe my definition of minimalism isn’t strict, but I enjoy spaces like your’s for everyday living. I love your approach as well! That is the outlook I take - I think minimalism is about making space for what is important to us and letting go of what isn’t, it is not about a number. What is “enough” looks different for everyone. Thank you so much for watching 🙂

Your home is very nice! When I search for home tours, I am always looking for a home that is a little bit better organized and a little bit more minimal than mine. Even before I discovered the author James Clear who popularized the “one percent better” improvement plan, I realized that some homes were unreachably empty and others were stressfully cluttered to look at. We all need a spectrum of examples to look at and internalize on our way to whichever level of minimalism we want to park ourselves at. Your home is lovely and beautiful and perfect for where I am at right now. Thank you for sharing.

Your house is so calming to look at. I was told that I shouldn’t use essential oils around cats. Have you had any issues?
I heard that as well, I asked my aunt who is a long term cat owner and she said so long as they are in a big room or one they can move from if it’s bothering them, it’s okay! So for example I would never lock Rhubarb in our bedroom with the diffuser going. But we have had her for 3 years now and no issues :) thank you so much for watching and the kind comment ❤️

Please be careful with the diffuser, it’s not good for cats, I had to donate mine when I researched
Yes I was thinking this as well. I had to remove my diffusers for this reason.
I’ve heard of this too so I only ever diffuse in a room my kitty can leave if it’s bothering her, and I don’t use it that often. Thank you for your concern ❤️

Nice but I would call it modernist, not minimalist. There are lots of stuff which make the owner comfortable and happy, which is probably more important than minimalism just for the sake of it.
Everything is minimalistic except cat 😂

Everyone has different perspectives on minimalism - mine is having just what I need and makes me happy, which might be more than some people!
