As an engineer, I would say be careful when you organise mains cables by twisting them into a coil (like the way you showed for the kitchen appliances). It's fine if the appliances are unpowered. But if they're powered up, the organised cables act as a coil, which might cause overheating - risk of fires 🔥. P.S. love your videos ❤
Well it doesn't act as a coil because the isolation prevents it (there is too much separation between cables, and two wires will cancel the magnetic field around it), but it can cause fire simply by the fact that live wire with high amperage will produce a lot of heat. If that heat can't go anywhere it can cause insulation to melt, short wires, produce a spark and thus fire.
Does it matter what country you’re in? I know that sounds like a “dumb-a$$” question but… say, I’m in the USA & I know our wattage in the outlets ARE different to say the UK. With theirs having that whole “turning the outlets OFF at the outlet”. To where here in America we turn OFF the whole thing by unplugging the object. And our wattage isn’t as high as the UK’s. I do know better than to close everything up in a box/container & just letting the HEAT stay confined.😊 Have I made anyone else as confused as I am by just posting this question? 🤷🏻♀️ ✌🏻
As a German Uni student in a tiny apartment, I loved this video! Thank you for your content! :) Your home is beautiful and what I aspire to have one day ✨
I have another idea for hiding the electrical panel. Fold a table runner over a dowel and hang the dowel over the panel. It adds some nice texture to the wall.
As someone who lives in an apartment, this video gave me so many ideas on how to organize everything to fit small spaces. I love how you design your house to make it functional and beautiful at the same time.
I love this video. The idea with the folding ironing board is genius. I’ve been looking for a way to fit on in a tiny apartment and that’s just the thing
I wish I could magic you to the UK and have you make my home look as beautiful and organised as yours 😊 ...I’ve been hooked on your videos since the first one I saw, the kitchen in your previous home. Your talent and vision, and practical skills, are awesome ❤ Suzy 🙂
A place for everything and everything in its place. Keeping things you use most often easily accessible. How I like to run my home too. Lovely vid. No words needed. You have a beautiful home by the way.
I loved this - so much content and no random chatter. What a kind and thoughtful presentation to help many apartments and homes feel cozy, intentional, and peaceful 🙏🌺
aw thank you! The first couple of days I regretted it because I thought it gave me swimming pool vibes 😂 but then it grew on me and I really love it now!
I am in love with how organized you are and how practical your tips have been for any person. We all have those unsightly cords for example. One tip, it might be different in Germany but in the US don’t cover the utility boxes! I know they’re unsightly, but I was told in the case of an emergency it’s important they can be easily found.
Thanks for making this compilation! It's super useful to be able to refer to it when looking for ideas. I struggled for a long time with the recycling even though I live in a city where there are containers for different materials less than two minutes away. It just feels like a waste to go there unless I have a lot of recycling :D So now I have two large laundry basktets - one for paper and one for plastic and metal - in a kitchen corner. They're plenty functional and okay visually too.
I know what you mean, in our previous apartment we had those bins at convenient distances but things would still pile up 🥹 The laundry basket idea is nice and easy!
Still watching, but the cable thing on appliances is genius! I don't have the space in my apartment to tuck away my rice cooker and kettle, so the cords are just kinda...shoved behind them. My kettle is glass, so don't think I can put a strip on it directly, but maybe I can put one on the wall behind it, wrap the cord, then push the kettle against it when not in use. Edit: Not a storage item, per se, but I like the idea of storing items that won't be used for awhile with a scented thing so it still smells nice when you finally use it.
Immediately knew you were in germany because of the paper you showed in the beginning, other countries dont really have to store binders full of documents lol. So this was really helpful for me as a german to watch.
Terrific video!!! Agree 100% that even the colors of cleaning products can be distracting. Your ceramic jars are a fine solution. Kudos on so many clever and wise ideas!
I love those shoe cabinets from IKEA (TRONES) - I am using them as mine main storage and laundry bin in bathroom and also as shoe and scarfs/hats/gloves etc storage in entry way ♥ Using them for recycling is great idea as the part that opens/actually store things is easy to take off to empty or clean...Also: idea to use stick note for drill dust is amazing!
Wow. I am a bit suprised that you have sooo much pysical paper for everything? Here in Norway i hardly have any paper at all now - as just about everything now is pure digital - really does a lot for all the paper clutter, binders etc.. Love a lot of your ideas though. I have been searching for a similar laundry rack - looks so practical.
I'm with you on the removal of packaging. I moved to a rental studio this year and struggle with making a restful place. The only difference I have is that if I conceal things my brain thinks I don't have to work on them. Out of sight out of mind can backfire.
I may have to try the basket for my routers. Thanks! Maybe Ikea has a light weight kitchen island. The Kalax cube made a great coffee station. Trimming down my kitchen items has been a difficulty.
I have watched your videos since you started. They are always very pleasing. I love this one a lot, realizing how much visual clutter there are in the house. Thank you!
Omg super great tips!! Like the weave basket and the foldable rack, these are applicable to my apartment. This has been the best visual clutter video I have see on here. Thanks!!!
My first time finding your channel and I absolutely love your ideas and content. I aspire to have my home so organised and beautiful one day. We are minimalists but in a tiny space and could do with some more order in certain spaces. These ideas are practical and helpful!!!
Beautiful! I love seeing a well organized and functional home space. That mounted laundry drying rack is wonderful. It even looks nice when it's folded up.
Love love this!!! You have a beautiful home. I had such a wonderful time watching this video. I also get easily overwhelmed with too many flashy things in my space so these are super helpful thank you.
Covering electrical panels like safety switches (especially rentals) and such with fixtures in some places is against fire and safety regulations. I stuck a laminated picture on the doors of these in my old place and am now lucky they're in cupboards in my current place. Check with your real estate/landlord and local laws 1st (and have a few alternative options for them to consider).
Omg hands down the best video made ! So many new and original ideas! Even your video is not over stimulating ! So much inspiration for one’s home ! Amazing job ! ♥️
Thank you so much for this video 🫶 Not only are all the ideas and tips so helpful, the calm and soft vibes make it inspiring! Even if you “hide the clutter away”, you manage to do it without turning the space into a plain boring cold and generic environment, it keeps personality and feels warm and like a real home!
Amazing! I rarely stumble upon really useful tips, but your ideas are great! I'm so inspired to organize my space after watching your video! Greetings from Finland!
This video is the home organization equivalent of watching a video of someone teaching dance moves. You’re nodding and following along and then the instructor does a backflip into a split and you realize “I am out of my league. Also I love dancing.”
Wow, who knew trolls had such strong opinions about organising and small space living? AaaAnYWAY! I really enjoyed this and took quite a few ideas to implement at home. Thank you for sharing 😊
Hearing you say that about becoming the girl you journaled about brought tears to my eyes, it’s so uplifting to hear others journeys and transformations!
definitely going to incorporate some of these tricks once my husband and I have finished renovating our tiny flat - with 39sqm it feels impossible to keep everything tidy as well as accessible. I was wondering how big is your flat/house?
Do you have high ceilings? If you do, maximize the vertical space for storage! We have pretty low ceilings but the apartment is about 95sqm, which is very comfortable for us since we both wfh :)
My husband is a Director of IT for a large company and when you walk into his office there is literally NO paper. He can do everything with a computer and a Microsoft Surface Go, including making hand written notes, which it converts to text. It frankly freaks me out a bit because I love paper and writing, rather than typing. He says it's actually liberating, and it's an example to all the people (like myself 😂) who say they NEED paper. I'm sure we'll get there eventually because I know my kids do all their office and uni work on a laptop.
@StephBer1 It is very awesome you prefer old-fashion pen/pencil and paper. Myself, I have to type as my dominant shoulder won't let me write. I only hand write when need a signature, quick phone number, or when really have to.
Thanks for these wonderful ideas! May I ask what happens to the things you switch out throughout time, like the ironing board, clear dispensers? Do you f.e. sell them or throw them away? Thanks for your answer ☺️
