- Nancy Wilson (born February 20, 1937) is an American singer with more than seventy albums, and three Grammy Awards. She has been labeled a singer of blues, jazz, R&B, pop and soul, a "consummate actress", and "the complete entertainer". The title she prefers, however, is "song stylist". She has received many nicknames including "Sweet Nancy", "The Baby", "Fancy Miss Nancy" and "The Girl With the Honey-Coated Voice".
"Do Nothing till You Hear from Me" (also written as "Do Nothin' Til You Hear From Me") is a song with music by Duke Ellington and lyrics by Bob Russell. It originated as a 1940 instrumental ("Concerto for Cootie") that was designed to highlight the playing of Ellington's lead trumpeter, Cootie Williams. Russell's words were added later. In 1944, Ellington's own recording of the song was a number one hit R&B chart for eight non-consecutive weeks and number six on the pop chart. - Розваги

That was terrific! I admire Nancy's decision to retire at the top of her game; but I do miss her.
Nancy had been suggesting that she was retiring for a couple of years before she dd; at one of her concerts a year or so before she stopped singing, she said "I"m trying to retire, but they won't let me" to a wild applause, so she went on a year or two more, but it was time. She gave us so much and now she's gone, but fortunately, we have her records so she will never really be gone! (And we understand she was a lovely lady also, nice to work with.)
THIS is the gift of UA-cam in that I've never seen/heard Nancy sing to Q in this fantastic clip. Q and Nancy still quite young and in their prime lives are a JOY to see and hear tho the fabulous Nancy Wilson is gone and Quincy thankfully still with us, if infirm. I don't think this sort of creativity exists anymore but I hope I'm wrong. So grateful to hear this in 2023 and remember that time of thrilling performances.
I wish she had spent more time recording standards during the 1990s. She was such a great band singer.
