This is the episode when you realise they lulled you into liking absolutely horrible people with no regard for human life. Very very Dark.
I always thought from reading the manga that she was happy because she now knew that the evil of stealing the ring was nothing compared to some people out there like the Danes. Ive never heard the perspective of wanting to be like them but I guess it does make sense.
I think you are partially right with your original interpretation. But the main reason is I think, because her entire life she was surrounded by people that were god fearing and law abiding. She probably never even considered that not caring about that was an option. And by their standards she was evil, sinful and doom to end up in hell. But these Danes sure as hell don't give a shit about any of that, so maybe I also don't have to. So I think it's combination of wanting to think like them (but not necessarily act like them, I don't think she wants to go massacre people) and her own sins seeming trivial in comparison. At least that is my interpretation.
What she meant was she feels elated that she may be able to be reunited with her family in heaven, since her sin of stealing pales in comparison of people like the Danes.
I think I always read it a slightly different way, like she must be in hell to think that such horrible people exist, that hell is earth, and if her family is dead then that must have been the rapture, and they were already judged. All of the faithful will reach heaven through death, and all the sinners stay on earth until all is misery and sinners only sin against each other. Might not be the most accurate reading but it's slightly more interesting to me that way and fits into Canutes philosophy, so, I stick with it.
@@backinmydaycartoons7957 I definitely agree with that. It’s nearly identical to Canute finding love through death with the priest.
No. She says herself that God will not allow her into heaven with her family-
"you aren't going to call me there to right"
So she already believes she isn't going to heaven at this point.
Jons interpretation is correct, she admired how Askeladd and his men acted unburdened by gods judgement. This is bolstered by the official english manga translation aswell.
@@askechadd2473 I did notice that after, I do think there are multiple meanings though, since she doesn’t go full Viking afterwards after admiring them for disobeying God.
Ep 14 and 15 back to back are such masterpieces
Awesome insight JD. If you want to watch a show that reflects on religion a little bit, try Hellsing Ultimate. The show is brutally violent, but it does touch a lot on religion as well. Plus there’s vampires lol.
Thanks for the reupload
U should watch Frieren next u would love it
Just to let you know, most people don't agree with your interpretation of annes "elation" line, but i defend that interpretation everytime it comes up, because you are correct. It is the only one that makes sense and it perfectly wraps up Annes arc of being burdened by gods judgement and then being freed from this burdensome judgement by seeing men like Askeladd who act completely unafraid of god, she idolizes them and wishes to emulate them.
This intepretation is confirmed even more by the offical translation in the english volumes of the manga (not the fan translation that did it wrong)-
"Dear god... are you watching me now? Have my brother and sister... and dad and mum and grandad... all reached you yet? I suppose... you didn't want me. Of course you didn't...after all, my heart went racing... when everyone was murdered. I mean, I never thought... there could be... such evil men in the world... so bold and daring... and unafraid of your judgement... my heart is racing... the way it did... when i stole this ring..."
The interpretation that she is happy because she thinks people are more evil than her so surely her crimes against god will go overlooked doesn't match on to her praising Askeladd as bold, daring and unafraid. She also mentions that her heart was racing whilst seeing her village get murdered, and no i don't think she meant she was scared, because she suggests the reason god wouldn't allow her into heaven was because her heart was racing at seeing them killed, which wouldn't make sense if she meant she was just scared. Also she even admits here that God would never allow her into heaven anyway so the conclusion that she thinks god will overlook her crimes is also disproven by her own words.
The episode I was finally waiting for! 14 is really an all time favorite from me and left me speechless by the end. Served as a reminder that these people are in fact terrible and don't forget it.
hi i don't wanna be rude but any ETA on the last 2 episodes of AOT? or is it a patreon exclusive ?
throwing you a view for the re upload
It’s fixed! But something’s missing🧐episode 13👀 we will live if you don’t drop it tho as long as you release the finale and pretty much all of season 2. This show is gold and your reactions are great with a bit of wisdom sprinkled throughout
when AOT final episodes?..
In American public schools we had to say or pledge of allegiance and our states motto everyday, as in contrast to the Lord’s Prayer
The line about Anne being elated tends to leave a lot of people confused about what she really meant by it. They translate elated from doki-doki which is a japanese onomatopoeia for a heart beat. In the manga the dialogue is translated as
"I see that you didn't call me to come with them, of course since I...(thinks she was left behind because she stole)
Even though everyone is dead, my heart is still pounding. Since I realized that there are those so evil... that there are those who so casually flaunt your laws.
Just like the moment I stole this ring... My heart... is pounding."
That is the fan translation. The official translation in the english volumes gives the interpretation that Jon had, which is also imo the correct interpretation-
"Dear god... are you watching me now? Have my brother and sister... and dad and mum and grandad... all reached you yet? I suppose... you didn't want me. Of course you didn't...after all, my heart went racing... when everyone was murdered. I mean, I never thought... there could be... such evil men in the world... so bold and daring... and unafraid of your judgement... my heart is racing... the way it did... when i stole this ring..."
I think that the use of calling them bold and daring obviously suggests that she is admiring them and how they are unafraid of god which certainly would wrap up her own little arc.
Sir Aot reactions when ?
For me ep 14 is one of the best if not the best anime episode ever
DAMN I cannot wait for you to get to the next season. You're picking up on everything I'd hoped you would.
*Spoilers!!*
I hope you're already ahead on the Patreon. I will say that was always what stood out to me with Askelaidd, he doesn't really end up keeping this promise to Ragnar, he sort of does the opposite, and ultimately leaves Canute to his own decisions and destiny. But he never even made a promise to Thors, yet he has some kind of twisted way of caring for Thorfinn and raising him, all be it in a very BAD way.
Later in season two you get what is really a subconscious version of Askelaidd in Thorfinns dreams, and he's truly become THE father figure of Thorfinn, while Thors is almost a Jesus-esque character in Thorfinns subconscious. The person who tries to teach Thorfinn that he has no need for swords, battle, and violence is his father Thors, but the person who proves and demonstrates this to Thorfinn is Askelaidd.
By giving him a life of murder, violence and vengeance he shows Thorfinn that the whole journey was pointless and solved nothing. That there is more to life than what the viking culture taught him. A combination of life lessons the two father figures gave shaped Thorfinn into the person who his father really wanted him to be.
Those lessons being that no one has enemies.
Such an amazing show.
I think you mistakenly uploaded episode 15 instead of 13 Jon
