The reason he has "trust issues" with the last round is that he doesn’t know the exact chamber pressure of it, but he does know that .500 S&W Magnum, which is less powerful, is near the limit of what that particular gun can handle.

.454 casull is no joke, its essentially a .44 on steroids. Theres a reason Alucard uses it as his main sidearm

Bear skulls are notoriously thick and dense. The round bouncing off is the whole reason there is a debate on what a good bear round is.

Bears are literally built for raw power, so I'm not too surprised. There aren't many animals that can tangle with a Moose and come out on top, but bears are one of them....especially Polar Bears! You don't want to mess with them if you can avoid it. Though thankfully in most cases bears will try to avoid people than get into a confrontation with us. It's when they feel threatened and backed into a corner that "problems" can arise.

If you "run into" a polar bear... No, you didn't, it came looking for food and found you.

Uh, just so you know, if a bear is actively after you, a car/truck is not protection, I camp in bear country regularly, you have to make sure there is nothing scented or edible left in your car because a bear ANY bear can peal your car open like a fucking tin can, they can roll your door up like tinfoil, I have seen them rip the doors strait off of cars trying to get at a candy wrapper. The bear spray is absolutely the correct answer.

His video about his 50 cal when it accidentally exploded was quite good and definitely worth a watch. Nothing real bad is shown so it'd be safe to watch. It's a good example of what can go wrong if you use ammo that's sketchy and you aren't like... nearly 100% sure about. Hearing his talk about going through that was very interesting too. I for sure say you should give a look eventually.

He has a video going into great detail about when he nearly died, and he explains all of his injuries and what happened that day. It's worth checking out just to see how lucky Scott is to be alive. By all rights, he _should_ have died that day, but he certainly had some guardian angels watching over him on that day. Just look up his video titled: *"My .50 Cal Exploded"* and you should find it with minimal difficulty. It doesn't show anything graphic, as Scott himself points out that the graphic stuff happened after the fact. But it just shows why it's important to not only understand how to safely operate the guns you own, but to also be certain of if the rounds you have are legit or tampered with.

More specifically, Underwood specializes in pushing the ammo and firearms to the limit of safety. Example. .357 Magnum ammo was officially reduced in pressure some time ago to about 75% power. Underwood got that memo and burned it. They still fully load .357 Magnum.
The reason .357 was downgraded was because some newer revolvers (Ruger LCR for example) started blowing up because they were not designed for the pressures of .357 Magnum.

Big hand gun, big rifle , bear spray and lots of friends with BIG GUNS. Or be on a boat with a guide so I can fish in peace down the river and if a bear tries to get to the boat we all know what to do. Not fight just leave. Great video thank you.

The running downhill thing is a myth at best.
Bears live and hunt in the woods and Mountains, they´re used to Hills.
And even if not, they´d probably be faster than a human downhill anyway.

Bears can be as fast as horses over short distances, not sure how short the distance is, but you're not outspeeding a bear.

"playing dead" works because grizzlies are very territorial, and it shows them that you are not a threat.

    • @thetigerobsidian
      @thetigerobsidian 4 місяці тому

      Playing dead does *not* work.
A hungry bear will go right up to you and turn you into lunch. Bears are carnivores and scavengers and if your fresh, your bite fodder.
Black bears you want to stand tall, spread your arms, and make a lot of noise. That has a much better chance of success than playing dead. This has the possibility of success with juvenile browns.
Adult browns: depends on the situation. Main thing is to not immediately run. It *WILL* catch you and turn you into a picnic basket on the spot.
      The intimidation tactic might work.
Do not look it in the eyes and backing away then moving hastily once you're out of sight will work as well.
The main thing is if you're going where you might encounter a bear - don't take it for granted you won't run into one and go prepared with a strong bear mace/OC, or something with which to defend yourself.
The best advice is like he said - don't go where a bear encounter is guaranteed.

@@thetigerobsidian Brown bears don't get intimidated like black bears, so always have bear spray on you, if not, then go to the ground, protect your vital organs and hope that they aren't slow eaters.
