I think Boston has had the ability to win a championship for years, but every time they faced a difficult team in the playoffs they've lost their confidence and tried to force a 3-point cascade to win and it has never worked out for them. This time, they have had a playoff run where each team has not caused them to lose their heads in this way and they are finally finding success. Helps alot that they have Jrue as well to keep things calm and under control.

We also need to talk about how Jason Kidd needs to be investigated. Puts in THJ who has 0 positive effect on the game, sits down Gafford and Lively for most of the game, calls a timeout when Mavs are going on a 20-2 run. This "he's a player's coach" bullcrap needs to stop - every coach has to be able to command respect from his team, but they also need to draw up plays and select rotations that make sense for the matchup and call timely timeouts. JKidd has been a crappy coach whole season, then gets carried by the players' excellent performance and gets absolutely schooled by a much more competent coach in the finals. And unfortunately he was given a multi-year contract - Luka's prime and Kyrie's tailend of his career will be wasted by that terrorist.

What about the accountability on the players who play.
His team is in the NBA Finals after beating the Number 1 seed OKC, and then the team that knocked off the defending champs, the media darlings the Minnesota T-Wolves.
Not one peep about how horrible of a coach he was then..?
The Celtics are just better, they are more focused and have been in the Finals recently.
Luka’s lack of defensive effort, his hero style of play… his lack of conditioning, being the leader and the most accomplished individual player on the court on either team…? Where’s the accountability for him.
Where is the credit for Jason Kidd molding a group of players late in the season, into a finals appearance…
      Everyone has an opinion…
however some are over the top weak and lack accountability.
      Stop being a victim.
      C O P E
The Celtics are just the better team.

@@mobrown1198 Luka played excellent defence this season and is the playoffs leader in steals. He got blown by Brown and Tatum because he can barely walk because he's so worn down by the playoffs.
Kyrie was also a net positive on defence, as was evident in the series against Twolves.
I do agree that Luka can improve more on defence but if you have watched any of the mavericks' games before the finals series you'd know that Luka has picked up his defensive plays immensely.
Apart from being a "good guy" I can't find many positives about Kidd, however - he doesn't call timeouts when he needs to and calls them when you must not call them. He keeps THJ for 18 minutes when he can't hit the broad side of a barn and nets us 0 points with 0 defense. He sits down our bigs when going to the basket in the first quarter is what earned us an early 13 point lead.

Also, besides Luka shooting those step back 3’s, getting himself into the foul trouble that he did was pretty insane to watch. He took two fouls on Derrick White and Payton Pritchard that he never should have taken. He didn’t think those fouls would come to bite him later. I've never been a proponent of being a "player's coach", so I think that Kidd & Cuban have a responsibility to hold Luka accountable for his childish antics in the court & complete lack of defensive intensity & focus. He cannot be this great offensively but completely ineffective on the other side of the court. Doncic is QUICKLY becoming prime James Harden. Idk, I've seen a LOT of basketball in my life & the way the Mavs play basketball is a recipe for disaster when playing against the Celtics or Warriors or Spurs brand of basketball.

Good video, Jonny! I too don't think the Mavs are coming back. Honestly, I can see them winning one. But, yeah, I wouldn't be shocked if they lost the next game too.
I agree about the Mavs' mistakes and missing shots. I thought they were going to come back and pull off a victory. When they had cut the lead to just 3 or 4 (can't remember exactly, but it was close), my hopes were up. But, as you said, they messed up and didn't step up after that.
I concur with your points about Boston too. I underestimated them because of how their path to the finals was much easier and with how the Mavs have played well and upset different teams.

They rely too much on their 1-2 punch superstars playing iso ball. They finally ran into a team that has enough athleticism and defensive ability on the perimeter to make them pay for that style of ball.
Obviously a team needs to win to get here and they did and the other western conference teams didn't so they did something right. I think the Nuggets would have been a better match up against the Celtics but they lost so here we are.

to answer your questions: Yes, this celtics team has an all time defense, from a personnel standpoint they just have the most 1-5 switchability ever, and this team WITH Kristaps as an athletic unicorn rim protector is one of the scariest full health rosters ever. But people separate offense and defense too often in the NBA and this series should put an end to that, its not football, the same guys who play offense play defense, and the way you play one is intrinsically tied to how you play the other. By efficiency metrics alone, its not the defense thats historic, it's the offense, with the best offensive rating of all time. no volume three point shooting team has EVER been this complete defensively with two All NBA driving slashers to drive and kick. This isn't just an all time defense, its a top 10 team all time relative to competition, and overall, I don't think there's 5 teams ever that could beat the 24 celtics in a 7 game series, both sides full strength.

If Kyrie gets it going in game 2, they probably win, and their only down 1-2 now at worst with a good chance to make it a real series.
It's not over yet, but assuming it is, Dallas made big strides this year. They need to continue improving the roster. Get a game-changing player or two for their bench. And Luka needs to lise some weight to get lighter and quicker on the court. It'll help him on both ends of the floor.

They've looked like the best team all year, and even with all the opponent injuries considered, they were still favorites to come out of the East. Outside of the Nuggets the Celtics were expected to win it all this year, and now they're on the verge of a Championship. Luka and Kyrie are still good, but they over-performed expectations this season (and I think they were overhyped by the media). But realistically what was going to happen?
